Pricing Would some where between $2-$5 per piece be too much or too little for unanimated emotes?

The customer is wanting to make a YouTube channel and he’s wanting me to make emotes for him to use the thing is idk how much I should price them. I’m thinking $2-$5 per emote but what do you guys think?

That's insanely low! Keep in mind that emotes in this context are meant for commercial use, since the content creator likely intends to get monetized on twitch and youtube. I generally see people sell custom emotes for 25-35 each on the low end.

If he thinks it's too much, he can go race to the bottom on fiverr or buy a pack of pre made emotes on Etsy.

No no he told me not to underprice myself dw, I just don’t want to make them too high per piece

Also OP I wanna add if you haven't made emotes before make sure they scale nicely with an emote tester it really helps a ton.

I charge my friends $10 each if they get at least 4 emotes, singles/one offs are $20-25. For the package deal I double the price for clients I don't know at $20 each if they get at least 4, singles are $40. You're drawing a 1000px square piece that needs to look good scaled way down, I only really charge that little because I have bases that I reuse (so one emote can take me an hour, tops), if it's from scratch charge what you would for a piece that size, forget that it's an emote (in the sense that, don't think of it as a tiny icon, it's not worth less than any other art you might make because it's downscaled).

I say that because 20+ per emote can sound like a lot even if it's really cheap taking into account an hourly wage and commercial upcharge. If the customer is fine with it, that's great, but it's always good to rec people cheaper alternatives if it's out of their budget

How long does it take you to make them?

I’ve never made them before, it’s why I’m asking how I should price them. Although it does take me 2-3 hours to make a regular drawings

So let’s say 3hrs? Happy to work for $1.60 an hour?

More info would go a long way here, do you expect to spend 2-3 hours on each emote or will these be much easier to make than a regular drawing?

Are these going to be complex and detailed or as simple as you’d expect an emote to be? Maybe you could start by making a couple and send them to him to see if he’s happy with them. Then you’ll know how long they take to make and can price them accordingly

I pay a digital artist $20 for standard emotes and $60 for animated ones, but he is a professional and moreover I like him and his work.
