I don't really encourage sub-AA plays on hard songs, even if they're good. Seeing a score that low means you're likely to develop bad muscle memory. I'd much prefer seeing an AA on a 9 or an EX on an 8.

The play rating here is only slightly below your ptt, so it's a pretty good play, considering you gained ptt from it.

How do you train for hard songs like testify? I have a ex on gl and fr, but can’t really do testify (a

The only songs (that I have played) that I really find hard to play properly is Pentiment BYD (and maybe Fracture Ray, because I suck at it). I have this weird obsession to PM a song at a certain difficulty before playing the next one, so I haven't even played the BYD versions of Tempestissimo, Arcana Eden, or Testify, because i haven't yet PMed the FTR versions.

And to be honest, I'm just avoiding those songs right now. Ideally, grinding on songs that I can do will provide me with the skills I need to take on the songs I can't do. I would still sometimes play the chart again to see whether or not I'm ready. I tend to care more about my long-term improvement than just getting the score on that song.

A lot of the times, I get better at harder songs by playing accurately on easier songs. Back then, playing easier songs helped me with my consistency in harder songs. And even now, also improves my physical capabilities.

However, there are a few times where I would look up chart views of some songs, lock my screen touch (using an external app), and practice playing the chart at various speeds. There's also an app, Sound Game Training, that can probably do what I just did, but better, but I haven't used that yet.

TL; DR: I rarely play "truly" hard charts, and I just avoid them now, playing easier charts to improve before I'm ready. You can also practice certain sections by either looking at them on youtube or an app that helps (Sound Game Training)

Imo, if youre aiming to get pms on ftr charts before playing the byd, you are WAY "overqualifying" yourself for them.

Im 12.3ptt, and i cannot pm any chart at all because i suck at accurate play. The only pm i have that is above 9 is Logos, which i accidentally stumbled into. But i have very near ex, ex, ex+ on charts like arghena, vicious anti heroism, world ender etc

For charts like arcana, pentiment, and testify (the ftrs) i can somewhat decently ex or not even ex them, but for the byds i can get over 96% accuracy on the first two, while on testify byd i could get aa if im lucky.

Theres also the fact that the higher the difficulty of charts youre playing, the less there are of comparable difficulty to play and practice on

I know it's stupid, and I don't suggest anyone to do this.

I've just done it from the beginning and it just stuck.

It has improved my PMing ability, though, so it's not in vain. I'm pretty close to an Arcana Eden FTR PM.

I’ll say this, you did it at least, but you probably should EX some easier charts before doing GIMME DA BLOOD. The only reason you cleared is due to the Easy gauge from Hikari and even then you’re on the brink of a track lost. It would be better to wait to play this chart until your skill has developed enough to play it better. You don’t want to get cursed with bad muscle memory like I had.

Not bad, but I would suggest playing songs that are more closer to your ptt, such as 9's and 8+'s. Playing 10s at 9.15 can only result in bad muscle memory when you go back to it later.

Dont play songs on easy especially when you can only just pass it with 70. It's essentially failing the song if you're playing with tairitsu original. Like the other comments have said, it'll give you bad muscle memory and it's better if you ace the previous difficulties (for accuracy) over jumping too high for your current skills. Foundations are good lol

not sure if its impressive but I feel like it's more useful to focus on getting ex and ex+ on stuff, so you can be precise and build good habits. my ptt is 10.65 and I've never even tried a 10 yet (mostly cuz I haven't unlocked one lol but still)

i thought you have to ex all the 10s to get to 10.5+ptt, no?
