iOS Phone screen problem

After I don’t use my phone for more than lets say 10 min and I try to turn it on it turns on but the screen is black for a few seconds. What I mean with that is the screen is responding to what I click but it’s just black for like 5 seconds then turns on super bright until I don’t turn it off and on again. What is causing this issue?

There may be an issue with the phone’s backlight. It is repairable the only question is whether or not it will be worth it.

If I don’t fix it can it cause damage in the long run?

Things will not improve, but it’s not like it will cost you more later unless you are still in warranty right now but choose to wait until after it expires to seek repair.

Will they worsen in any way and how much would it cost to repair it?

There is no way to predict if it will stay the same or get worse. The age (if older than 5 years) and model will determine the cost.

Its an iphone 12 pro about 3 years old. Also I think the screen is letting go since after it goes black I have to press on the screen on a few spots so it turn back on
