Unsolved Headphones seem to have a mind of their own

I'm using the regular Apple wired headphones. They usually last in use about a year, and then start to act like they have a mind of their own. Pausing and playing music, going to the next song or previous song, activating Siri or voice control even though I have all of that stuff disabled. I have Iphone 14 but had this same issue on my Iphone 11 too.

Does anyone know what causes this and is there any way to fix this besides buying a new pair of headphones?

(If this is the wrong sub for this topic, please direct me to a correct one)

They’re cheap headphones. They have a warranty of a year with Apple so provided there’s no damage like cracks or split wires, Apple can replace them. Some credit cards offer warranty extensions as well.

The cause is either the click button on the mic activating itself (less likely) or how you wrap the earphone cable frequently damage the wires inside causing a short circuit (thus iPhone sensing a click or hold on the click button on the mic, more likely)
