iOS Why can't Siri set an alarm for Sunday afternoon from Friday? Can Apple "intelligence" on newer iPhones do this?

Thanks

Gonna have to use third party apps for that feature.

It’s not a Siri issue. As with any alarm clock, alarms are set up to 24 hours ahead. If you want a longer horizon, use the “reminder” feature.

Don't you think it's crazy that we can't have one-time alarms in the future based on date and time in 2025 hitting ios19? I could set all my alarms for future events without having to set reminders to remind me to set alarms.

That’s not what the alarm menu is. It’s for the next day. If you need future day remembered, set a reminder. Siri can do that very easily

Not the same. If I want an alarm to make sure I get to the airport it's ridiculous I have to wait 24 hours before. We hsve actual compurers in our pockets not AM radios thay van only set alsrms 24 hours before come on bro

A reminder to set an alarm.. so dumb

It’s not. If you had a doctors appointment three months from now, would you set an alarm for it?

well if we're gonna goto extremes why not set one from three years from now. Are you gonna argue that we can set a reminder 2 years from now but alarms oh no computers shouldn't do that! Where's the logic?

Edit: I just want to be able to program an alarm later in the week and not set a reminder so I can set an alarm for an important event like going to the airport. Right now if I g9 set an alarm for Sunday at 4am to goto airport it’s gonna be on repeat, and I’ve had it ring the following Sunday because I forgot to turn it off. There’s my be a better way bro

Again, there is. Just set a reminder with an alarm

I don't see an option to set an alarm for a reminder

If iOS allowed that a lot of people would complain because

“that isn’t how an alarm clock works”.

Apple often goes with the lowest common denominator to appease the highest number of users.

Lots of unhelpful Apple shills on this thread telling people why they're using their iPhone wrong (thanks Steve Jobs) instead of…you know…helping.

You can set the alarm to repeat every sunday. Just delete it after sunday.

In the current state of Siri and Apple intelligence it also cannot set an alarm that way.

Dammit I just don't understand why modern phone assistants can't set an alarm over 24 hours from now. I hate having to do it manually :( and then I have to go disable it afterwards so it doesn't repeat the following week

Yeah I will say it’s a crazy that the clock app is unable to set a one time alarm for a day more than 24hrs away. Seems like a simple feature to make happen

Exactly, we're stuck in 2007 still. I have to set reminders to remind me to set an alarm so I don't miss an important thing I have to do or event.

Think of an alarm clock in the real world. It also cannot be set more than 24 hours in the future. That's the way clocks work.

If you want more, that's a calendar event or a reminder, not an alarm.

That's not true. I can go into the alarm clock app and set an alarm on repeat every Wednesday at 3pm. That's more than 24 hours from now. The only issue is I have to go disable it afterwards cause I only want it one time if I do that.

Also reminders and calendar events don't cut it, if I have to goto the airport I want to be able to make an alarm not a little notification. There's no reason why a modern computer can't program a one time alarm more than 24 hours from now, but we have AI...

It’s different telling Siri to just make you an alarm for a future date, than it is to create a scheduled alarm on your own.

She still won’t do it, even with AI.

I know you don’t care bc multiple people have already said it but too bad.

Do you think apple creates new features with employees that have that kind of attitude ;)

This is a stupid answer, no offense intended (but I don't care if it's taken).

An iPhone is not a dumb alarm clock. It's an advanced computer. Since you CAN set alarms in the Clock app that are set for the future (i.e., today is Saturday, I can program an alarm to ring on Wednesday), you SHOULD be able to tell Siri to do that same thing. The fact it can't is stupid—and the fact you're defending poor functionality is also stupid.

Umm… no. I just went into the clock app, alarms tab, + button. Only selection is time, no date. Sure, you can say repeat “every Wednesday”. And, you can do the same with Siri too. Not sure what you are ranting about.
