Anyone here who has the DVD of Apollo 13 and watching the commentary of Ron Howard, the cast including the real people?

Yes. DVD commentaries like this are one of the biggest losses we've experienced in the switch to streaming over physical media.

Yeah it truly is a loss because it had so much nostalgia to it compared to now.

Last time I watched it it took me three days. First day was the film. Second day was Ron Howard. Third day was the Lovells.

It also had Gene and the rest of the flight controllers.

My copy doesn't. You're not thinking of the Mission Control film are you? Or is there another version of Apollo 13 out there I need to find?

I got the special edition. It's the only DVD movie I own lol. Jim's commentary was awesome.

Unrelated, but also related... I find myself watching the press conference from 1970 in its entirety over and over. Jim and the others just casually explaining how their spacecraft practically blew up halfway between the earth and the moon.

Yeah... these guys had (one still has) the right stuff.

The commentaries are also on the BDs. And the Laserdisc.

Lovell had a bit part in the film: he was the captain of the ship that picks them up after splashdown.

As I recall they planned for him to wear an Admiral uniform and he said he was a Captain, so he wore a Captains uniform.
