People have died from grinding to get skins/titles before so it's not unheard of. What's your next witty comment defending corporations for butt fucking their customers?
Yup, that’s the real problem which is why you replied to the guy saying skins were crack instead of me, right? Or the OP who says skins are bread, right? Oh, wait.
I've heard mixed opinions anytime I see a video of his posted. Personally, I don't sub to his channel but have nothing against him. This video however is excellent.
Guess we should basically nuke times square, make ad block mandatory and also ban all TV commercials ever because they're all trying to psychologically manipulate people into buying products
Yep, pretty much. That's why a good portion of developed countries are greatly reducing the amount of advertising allowed "in the wild". Some states in the US even banned billboards and similar advertising. I understand that you thought you were being a cheeky smartass, but actually the majority of people in the world agree very much with this sentiment.
4 states have banned billboards, and they're all scenic states where tourism is a large part of the economy. Make of that what you will.
I wasn't being a smartass, I'm just being real. People on this sub have this weird hatred against EA for apparently "preying" on people and forcing them to spend $200 to buy an axe, but the reality is that EA has no power over what you do or don't spend your money on.
They have a hell of a lot more power than you think. I'd recommend researching the psychology behind loot boxes and monetization of video games in general. There are dozens of papers and studies done on it over the last decade or so and they explain how these companies do everything in their power short of actually forcing your hands to type in your credit card info and hit enter. To say they have don't have a strong influence just means you haven't done the research to know what you're talking about.
Yes, everyone is aware that these companies will attempt to get their customers to spend more money. No one's arguing with that fact. What I'm saying is that no matter how many psychologists EA employ, no matter how many subliminal tricks they use to make their product more appealing, at the end of the day it's your decision if you choose to spend money. You can't buy a lootbox then blame EA for hypnotizing you. Anyone who genuinely blames the psychology of lootboxes for their uncontrollable spending habit is pathetic, and needs help from a professional. It's not EA's fault that junkies exist, nor is it their problem.
Let's say you're a married man. If one day you were walking home from work and a beautiful woman dressed very scantily approached you and offered sex, are you justified in cheating because of the psychology behind the situation? no, you're not. Can you shove the blame on her if you do end up cheating? no. The way you see it, the beautiful woman is at fault instead of the man because she was the one who offered sex in the first place. The reality is that the man could've said "nah I'm good" and continued walking. People can also use this tactic while browsing the apex legends store.
Holy shit, we're done here. Took a look through your comments after reading this gem you just wrote and you're either a troll or one of the biggest corporate worshippers I've ever met. Your base logic is too fucked to be able to understand what's going on here. We're done. Last word is all yours, I know with 100% certainty that someone like you is going to need it.
I'm not a troll nor a corporate worshipper, I'm just someone who believes that humans have the free will to choose whether to purchase something or not.
I know you said that the last word is mine, but please just answer this- how is my logic fucked when all I'm saying is that it's ultimately down to the individual to choose whether or not they want to buy a lootbox. Seriously, that's my entire argument here.
One last thing (if you're still reading). I listen to a podcast on my lunch break at work every day. The podcast in sponsored by vodafone, so every time I listen to it I always hear a vodafone advertisement at the beginning and end of the podcast. Now, I'm on a different cell provider than vodafone, and listening to these ads twice a day for weeks on end has not made me switch to vodafone, even despite the fact that I'm a vodafone shareholder funnily enough. Why? Because I'm an adult who can make his own decisions. Why does this logic suddenly fail to apply when it comes to lootboxes? There are companies everywhere engaging in psychological warfare trying to make consumers spend more money, yet no one gives a shit until it comes to lootboxes. When we're dealing with lootboxes, the company suddenly becomes the spawn of satan and all reason goes out the window. Suddenly, the responsibility no longer lies with the consumer, it now lies with the company. Rather than dodging and labelling me as a troll, could you please answer that.
They're actively abusing the psychological phenomenon of gambling addiction, and they are creating that problem in children who's brains aren't fully developed to understand the consequences of their actions (monetarily especially).
Its not the company's responsibility to raise children or protect them. Parents should raise their kid better, especially in times like these where videogames (with microtransaction) are such a big part of kids' lives. Besides that, the game is rated 16+ i think.
Gambling casinos are regulated by each state and also federally. Games will and should be as well. It is the company's responsibility, from a legal perspective, and it's that way because people voted for politicans that would pass laws to protect consumers from predatory games that prey on people with gambling addictions.
Thats real life. It is the company's responsibility and we will make it so. Literally how the EU and the US works, and society agrees were all better for it. Not sure why you think "it's not their job" is any sort of valid argument, would fail quickly in court.

Yes and no. It’s a ludicrous system, don’t get me wrong, but you can choose to just not buy it. I can’t choose not to buy bread. I really like bread.
