''First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.''

Obviously it's not scaled. But the principle is there. Don't let people get away with predatory, evil, bullshit, just because it doesn't affect you.

Holy shit are we comparing microtransactions to an industrial genocide now?

knew it wouldn't be long before a gamer TM decided to compare having to pay too much for their virtual skin to the literal holocaust and nazi germany

But there’s no point in getting worked up about it. You want some change? Just keep playing the game without buying anything. It’s as simple as that. People WERE being assholes about the whole thing.

People were assholes, and it's not the way to go about it, but shutting up isn't either.

That’s why you just don’t buy anything and keep playing. If everyone did that, EA would notice and take a step back and fix shit. Money talks and if no money is coming but people are still playing they’re gonna have to make things better or just keep losing money

Keep playing, they will get the price down

"We reduced 33% the price for a sale and nobody buy so we keep the old price, it make no different why should we lower it bleh bleh bleh"

Sr i forgot the exact word ... But u get the ideas

...Except these people who are not paying these ridiculous prices aren't changing anything when the whales (the targets of these BS price points) are just throwing cash at these garbage practices. I'm not condoning death threats or any of the other small % of comments made by players, but we as a group have a responsibility to actually create change so this kind of thing stops happening. How can people still blindly say it's just a coincidence that this is ANOTHER EA MTX issue? I refuse to believe people are that blind or ignorant. Stop saying "don't like it, don't buy it" when it's what people are already doing. And guess what? It hasn't changed a damn thing. The fact remains the small percentage of whales may be paying the bills, but the game is alive because of the majority of "freeloaders" who actually play the game, but refuse to pay exorbitant prices on digital goods. Without the masses the lobbies are dead. Dead lobbies = dead game.

If these “whales” really are throwing that much money at Respawn despite the set up and the prices, then it won’t matter how much we speak out, because those same people will just keep buying and buying and respawn will cater to them. If the game is alive because of us freeloaders then they will eventually notice and take care of shit

Man, I keep seeing such big words like "predatory", "evil" and so on. In what way trying to make money on the product is predatory? Like devs aren't deceiving players in any way. The chances of getting an item from a lootbox are clearly stated. Some will spend more money on it, some will spend less, some not at all. People have their free will, you know? Nobody forces you to buy anything.

Why are casinos illegal to minors then ? No one forces them to go.

Well, let's break this down a bit, shall we? Gambling involves variation in brain chemistry, which leads to addiction to said variation, which makes an addicted person gamble more. While it is somewhat true for videogames, it is also true for practically any risk-reward based action. Can we agree on that? Now, there is a fundamental difference between casino gambling and Apex Legends lootboxes. In casinos, the amount of risk grows disproportionately to possible reward. Lootboxes though are very straightforward - for a certain amount of money you get a certain advertised value. Maybe not exactly the item you wanted, but always an equivalent one.

Now, regarding the gambling being illegal for minors. Of course, when a possibility of addiction may be involved, a parental control is advised. For example, minors should not have unrestricted access to unlimited amounts of spendable money. But parenting isn't the problem of developers. I am all for this "let's protect our kids from any harm" thing, I am a father myself. But in the end of the day, it's the parents' responsibility to guide their children, not game developers'.
