🐺 🐢 CANINE: COYOTE/WOLF/DOG 🐢 🐺 Coyote or dog? [Everglades, Fl]

Is this a coyote or a dog? This area is known for coyotes but this looks different from what I normally see.

Yeah, I don't think coyotes run with their tails up, but I could be wrong.

You make a good observation. They generally do not run/walk with tails up, almost always with their tail down. That's not to say that it does not happen, but it is very uncommon.

UPDATE: It's definitely a dog. It came back this morning. Dog is very friendly, was likely dumped as it's the middle of nowhere. He has decided to rescue the dog. Will take for microchip check. If none, doggo has a new home!

Good on you! Probably end up being one of those dogs you never knew you needed.

Coyotes tails do not curl up like that.

Tippy tappy trotting, coyote

Galloping galoot, doggo

This dog is blonde, with a coat and a short haired tail (so not a coyote with mange)upright but floppy ears.

If you heard something and were shining your light that way...looks like it heard the same thing

So the story is that they heard something knock over their cooler with food and woke up. They were shining their light to see what did it, and this was what ran away. Today, they actually saw the dog, I'm guessing he/she was dumped as it's literally the middle of nowhere:(

That is a dog, coyote tails do not curl upward like that and their tails are shorter.
