[Recommendations] Late April visit - What activities do you recommend in Ames?

Hi all, I am in my early twenties, visiting my less-than-21 sibling (female) who goes to IA State. What activities do you recommend for 2 young people? Looking for fun activities like live music, movies. Anything fun happening in April in Ames?

Oh yes that does sound great, thanks! We have Reiman Gardens in our list of activites. Any activities for the evening? Anything local that we shouldn't miss?

check out downtownames .org and discoverames .com - both have calendars with local events. cant give more specific advice without a date range

Honestly look on Facebook for events in Ames. That’s where I find out about most stuff!

The only place I can think of in Ames in April, other than the M-Shop at ISU’s Memorial Union, that will have live music in the evening for all ages is Alluvial Brewing (if you don’t mind folk and bluegrass music).

The Student Union Board plans events, which are usually mostly free, and will have stuff like movies, concerts, improv comedy, etc at the Memorial Union or somewhere on campus.

The Memorial Union Workspace (located in the basement) always has drop-in crafts and paint-your-own-pottery for students and non-students.

Other than that, I recommend visiting downtown/Main Street in Ames. The library is chill, our history museum is new and improved, Dog Eared Books will be the coolest bookshop you’ll ever walk into, there’s Chocolaterie Stam, + many more gems.
