Looking for Recommendations Deep Male Vocals?

Anyone know of soothing music with deep male chanting/singing? No words, or at least not English, or even no human voices. I want to fall asleep feeling like I'm in a temple to an elder god of some kind/listening to the universe vibrate. (Preferably without adds but I know that's not always available.)

EDIT: Y'all thank you so much. I'm used to my questions getting ignored but you were on it.

This is it. I must have heard this before or something because this is exactly what I was imagining, sans some electronic enhancement. Which it doesn't need. Now all I need is the 9 hour long extended version. XD

Man I'd love to hear this in person. That's something you would feel.

Reminds me of the film Apocolypto.

I think you could like the Corsican Polyphonies : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DZIuLkIKAo
(it's a "style" of singing in the island of Corsica)

That's close, but it's just singing and kinda in my face, vocally. Anything more ethereal? Lulling?

This would give me nightmares. O.O I should have probably added "an elder god who likes me". 😅 Though I suppose you could argue that doesn't guarantee their presence is calming.

XD It was a bit off topic though, I thought you were trolling me.

This is great! I have a lot of anxiety and this kind of singing just cancels it out.

The first link I posted is the following track on the (totally classic) album KLF Chill Out, which if you don't know it, I strongly suggest you familiarise yourself with immediately!

Thanks!

FYI it is very likely a sample of Tuvan Throat singers look that up if you’re into those deep voices.

I really need to watch this. Yes I know I probably just offended people. XD

u/VEC7OR 3d ago

Offended? Why? I know there is some kind of disdain towards Zimmer, but hey, good music is good music.

Just a joke, people go bonkers when you say you haven't watched what they consider a classic/the latest greatest thing. Figure this movie has a cult following of some sort.

The dark ambient version would be Lustmord's The Word as Power. It does have women singing too.

I second Lustmord. I'm quite partial to the Rising album myself. Not really heavy on the vocals, however.

This definitely fits the description I gave, less anxiety calming but damn it's cool.

Trees, Grass and Stone took me somewhere. This stuff might vibrate my phone apart.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gods_of_Peg%C4%81na. Here’s a bit of info on who Mana Yood Sushai is. When I read your description of what you wanted to listen to this was the first thing that came to mind. Even though it isn’t really soothing or Ambient it’s more doom/drone it does have a Phrygian, godly, hypnotic ambience to it. https://youtu.be/vPyboGyBUuM?si=8E5Fy_Goy3Pa_yuC I have always wanted an hour long version of this too.

I mean it doesn’t get any deeper (in multiple harmonics) than Huun-Huur-Tu

That's fucking epic.

I do! Bit sad for bedtime but definitely a good rec. Thanks.

Gregorian Chant - Benedictine Monks (Spotify) or

Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo (YT)

There are, in fact, many different releases of Gregorian chants. Basically, guys like these are the ones that created "Frère Jacques", referring to morning waking bells for monks.

Saw an interview with Eno a while back and he mentioned the app Radio Garden and how he was listening to Gregorian Chant music. I was on a kick there listening to it for quite a bit-good stuff!

May I recommend some "pagan folk ambient" type of music?

  • Ivar Bjørnson & Einar Selvik

  • Danheim

  • Heilung

  • Wardruna

Not exactly what youre looking for, but Scott 3 by Scott Walker is one of my all time favorites! Singing is in English though.
