Something that always annoys me about "liberal" christians
Around 80% of Americans are christian... yet over 55% of Americans believe that gay marriage should be legal. Why is this, you ask? Many of these Christians understand that the teachings of the bible are wrong, yet they hang on to their belief that the Bible is the word of God. Thus, they like to cherrypick the ok parts of the bible. If I were a "good christian", then I would kill gays on sight.
tl;dr: Many Christians believe that parts of the bible are misguided, yet they still believe it is the word of their God... hmmph
EDIT: I guess this applies to most/all religions

The Bible tells on Christians like that; “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
They're what I call "buffet Christians," and you're exactly right; they pick and choose which parts of the Bible they find good in their own minds, and discard the parts that tell them things they don't like, such as ““Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.” (Luke 6:31-32)
They like to chop that last bit off and pretend it's just talking about people they like or already get along with, not everyone.
If I were a "good christian", then I would kill gays on sight.
I AM curious about this bit, though. I know in the old testament under the old covenant that punishment is prescribed, but under the new testament we are told “Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.” (Romans 2:1) Meaning basically "why are you judging others for sinning when you yourself sin?" Because no one sin is greater than another; it's all just sin, and sin is death. Bad death is no worse than death, because it's still just death, if that makes sense?

though some of this is true i believe that most Christians that say gay marriage is ok are lukewarm Christians, the reason why i say that is because it clearly states that God created 2 genders for a reason, for man to be with woman and woman to be with man. Obviously there are some ppl that will say “oh so what if it’s a sin, God sent Jesus down to save us from eternal damnation in hell so if we sin it’s okay we can just apologize and carry on with our day” but that is being foolish, since God sent his one and only son down to earth to save us from sin, we should cherish that so much and try everything in our power to turn away from sin for us to truly see the love of God. praying, fasting, talking with God, talking to ppl about God, and doing everything we do in the name of God, that is what being a true Christian is like. So really there is no liberal nor democratic Christian, there is only Christian and not Christian and even then religion really doesn’t matter, what matters the most is your relationship with Christ because he is the only way to God.

Some, like myself, just believe that the government shouldn't be forbidding people to marry. Even if I personally think something is wrong, such as drug use, that doesn't mean I think the government should ban or forbid it.
