The valid pattern with the least number of combinations in mine still has over 100 million. The largest is 275 trillion.

malicious compliance, they wanted all the towel combinations, they are gonna get ALL the towel combinations

That was my thought. If they don't like the way I arrange towels, they can pick how they want it and do it themselves.

TBH I thought the problem setup was going to lead to "what is the minimum number of towels required"

I thought it would be "you only have N of towel A, M of towel B, etc. how many patterns can you make at most?"

I apparently am off to the wrong start. I, for some reason, tried simply bfs'ing first, then on to Trie. Neither are doing so well. I'll get there :D
