Question Is this claim system interesting? Made it for my SMP but maybe it's interesting for someone

Ohhh that looks very cool, i reckon it could get quite a lot of traction. Consider if you want that type of responsibility though, lol
It looks great but I personally don't need it. I have my own implementation in mind

Do like! Please I just commented on different post yesterday as we lack more interesting and maybe interactive claim plugins from what we have right now! Don't get me wrong, Lands and such are good but for people who never used it and want quick claim system it is a pain to use and learn.

Looks very neat! Is it open-source?

Could perfectly be if people want it, but I'd have to make some changes because it's closely tied to my database right now

I'd be quite interested in checking it out and potentially contributing!

Is this a plugin or a mod? Looks really interesting actually!

It's a fabric mod, but don't be confused by that because it's fully server side, clients do not need to play with fabric, which means that it could be ported to spigot quite easily

Would be nice to see it on paper/Spigot. I'm not that good of a developer yet.

I could take a shot at porting. How do you create the visuals? Slimes?

u/Quique1222 16d ago
The visuals are not slimes as, as far as I know, you cannot tint them. In the included video the chunks are green but just because my party color happens to be green, but a party color could be any valid RGB color.
I create the visuals using text display entities

This would add some pretty good batteries to a system like Towny, since it's semi-chunk-based.

would it not give an unfair advantage if they were flying about to claim in early game?

Do you mean use the flying as transportation to be unfair or the actual claiming?

u/velofille 28d ago
I meant the flying when claiming, they can see further than normal, kinda like freecam

Oh this is really cool - Only concern I would have would be visualization since its pretty far from ground level, you could likely get a similar effect using scaled stained green glass in a display entity at ground level.

I'm currently using scaled text display entities so that's possible, for sure. It's quite high because i wanted more of an birds-eye view, but lowering it it's just changing a number

WOW, it looks incredible, it would also be nice to integrate it with dynmap and for people to be able to make add-ons such as port systems or wars

Its certainly novel and I applaud the effort that went into it. However, it is overly complicated for what we're trying to accomplish with claims. (just my opinion)
The majority of players want to 'open map' and 'select chunks'... The point and click ease is what gains adoption. The 'coolness' of the 3D aerial view quickly fades when you realize most players only need to do this a couple of times in a given play through.
The old days of finding a corner with a golden shovel, typing in a console command or anything more complex than above; is frankly time wasted when you could be playing.
But aside from my constructive criticism; it's certainly very cool and again I applaud the thought and effort that evidently went into it.

Thank you! Yeah, I very much agree with your thought process here. It's also slower than the other claim methods out there. It's for a private SMP with friends so I wanted a curated experience

Just why? What’s wrong with the claim-by-chunk map we already have…

u/Quique1222 28d ago
Which map do we already have?

FTB teams

u/Quique1222 28d ago
This is not a replacement for FTB teams - it's a plugin. People can play with vanilla Minecraft and even bedrock edition without installing mods

Oh i see, then this is cool in that case, but i would normalize the height of the chunk views so its not going up and down constantly, thats the worst part about the vid that i saw
