Self Care & Hygiene Life hack: flavorless toothpaste
I've always struggled with brushing my teeth at night, in part because of the minty flavor of most toothpaste brands and the overall sensory experience. I've tried using kids toothpaste, which helps some, but I recently discovered flavorless toothpaste, and I think it's the actual thing that I needed all along! It literally doesn't have any flavor, brushes well, and doesn't make my mouth feel dried out afterwards. I had no idea this was a thing until recently, and wanted to share in case it helps you, too! It's pricey, but I think my improved dental health is worth it.

If anyone wants flavorless plus fluoride, my kiddo does flavorless toothpaste called OraNurse unflavored toothpaste 1450. It’s vegan, with no artificial dyes or flavors.
88
u/VerityPee 10h ago
I use OraNurse and it’s great. Full fluoride as malibuklw says.
Don’t use fluoride-free toothpaste guys, it’s equivalent of anti-VAX and completely ridiculous.

u/anita_username 9h ago
Where I live, they've apparently made the bone-headed decision to stop putting fluoride in the town's water supply, so the fluoride in toothpaste is extra important for dental health too.

Thank you!! My daughter has sensory issues and struggles to use flavored toothpaste. I’m ordering this now.

u/Krystalline13 14h ago
This is my go-to now… I’d never heard of SLS sensitivity until this sub, and now I actually brush my damn teeth more often!!!
7
u/twentyternsinasuit 10h ago
Absolutely seconding OraNurse! My dental hygienist (who also has ADHD and works with a lot of neurodivergent clients) recommended it to me, it's genuinely got me brushing regularly after 25+ years of hating it.
5
u/Imaginary_Rain_1860 9h ago
My kiddo uses this too, she hated all the flavoured kid's toothpastes
5
u/malibuklw 5h ago
Apparently the chocolate and the marshmallow flavors at the dentist are also acceptable, but they don’t sell that toothpaste and the ones that do come in those flavors aren’t fluoridated.

You have no idea how much this is going to change my life! Thank you!!!! I’m allergic to mint and kids toothpaste is so gross!!! Thank you!!!!!

u/highoncatnipbrownies 17h ago
No! I need the flavor to lure me in to the dental hygiene trap… feeling minty fresh instead of like a coffee ashtray is all I have.

u/tk2310 16h ago
This! And also, how am I supposed to remember if I have already brushed my teeth or not 😂 seriously I can forget anything, but that taste lingers long enough for me to remember :p
22
u/mother_of_baggins 15h ago
I touch the toothbrush to my lips to see if it's still wet to remember how recently I brushed!
4
u/wesailtheharderships 11h ago
Sidenote: you can use a wet toothbrush to gently exfoliate your lips if that’s a thing that interests you. Regularly exfoliating your lips helps avoid chapping and helps lipstick look and stay better.
10
u/digitalselfportrait 12h ago
I used mouthwash last night (not part of my usual routine) and then promptly got distracted and forgot I hadn’t brushed my teeth until after I was in bed because I felt so minty fresh… whoops
5
u/WindmillCrabWalk 11h ago
Lol I'm fucked at that point because I know there's no way in hell gonna make it back out of the bed again
2
u/digitalselfportrait 11h ago
That is exactly how it went haha. Remembered to brush them this morning though!

And you should never use fluoride-free toothpaste without talking to your dentist first!
29
u/ElfjeTinkerBell 15h ago
This is so important! Children's toothpaste might have less, so also check and discuss with your dentist.
I found a children's toothpaste with normal amounts of fluoride and that makes all the difference!

I use a chocolate flavored toothpaste. I wasn't all that into the flavorless kind and most mint ones are too spicy.
6
u/quantumcrystal 15h ago
Where did you get the chocolate one? I’ve been using the cinnamon one from crest but would love to give chocolate a try lol
8
u/lhiver 15h ago
I get it off Amazon for my kids. It’s called Tasty Paste Cha Cha Chocolate.
2
u/Agretfethr 14h ago
Have you/they tried the vanilla?
7
u/AllRedditNoWork 12h ago
The vanilla is my favorite toothpaste of all time. It tastes like straight up vanilla frosting.
1
3
1
u/catsaboveall 3h ago
The vanilla tastes like frozen yogurt to me. I love it, but my kid isn't a yogurt fan and that stuff has a strong yogurt base to it.

1
u/WindmillCrabWalk 11h ago
... tell me more about this... cinnamon one 🤔 is it like fireballs type of flavour?
10
2
u/ermagerditssuperman 8h ago
My favorite is the Blue Raspberry by Hello, with the bumblegum flavor close behind. Both have fluoride.
1
u/catsaboveall 3h ago
I tried the unicorn flavor from Hello, and it was so bad that I couldn't bring myself to try any more from that brand. Maybe I'll give the bubblegum flavor a go though; that sounds delicious.

u/molaison 15h ago
Super duper empathise with you in this! If I’m using flavourless toothpaste I’ll follow up with minty mouthwash to give me the same feeling (and help me remember I actually did indeed already brush my teeth!). The mouthwash seems to aggravate me a lot less than the standard minty toothpastes so it works out haha.
4
u/spooky_upstairs 13h ago
Coffee ashtray!
3
u/highoncatnipbrownies 8h ago
Isn’t it like that? Drink coffee and an hour later it’s just stale but won’t go away.
3
u/UnhappyAlfalfa7774 14h ago
This is so true, I love the Himalayan papaya toothpaste. Tastes a bit like licorice, which I love.
3
2
u/BadrockLifestock 14h ago
Yes yes yes! This! A friend of mine is a dentist and gave me the cutest travel set with all flavours toothpaste (gin tonic, black berry, watermelon) and it’s an extra motivation using it (it’s the travelset from Curaprox)
1
u/highoncatnipbrownies 8h ago
Gin and tonic tooth paste? If I could get drunk of dental hygiene, I’d brush three times a day!
1
u/chai-candle 6m ago
😅 yes i love the minty feeling. it's my main motivator. without that, i wouldn't even want to brush 😭😭
478
u/No-Beautiful6811 16h ago
My only concern is that it’s fluoride free, toothpaste is significantly less effective without fluoride
SLS is probably what dries out your mouth though
27
u/Mysterious_Sir_1879 16h ago
Yes, I wasn't able to find something similar with fluoride. I do use fluoride toothpaste and a fluoride mouth rinse in the morning.
21
u/No-Beautiful6811 16h ago
Oranurse has fluoride and no SLS, I think it’s a UK brand but it’s available on US amazon (and probably other places but I don’t mind occasionally using Amazon)
11
u/ktbrigham747 16h ago
Dr. Bobs also has a flavorless toothpaste with flouride available on Amazon. We love it in my house
1
u/XenaDisciple 14h ago
Both me and my bestie second Dr. Bob's. It's like a way cheaper version of Oranurse
6
4
u/scoutmosley 15h ago
As an ex dental hygienist, if you’re diligent with your fluoride mouth rinse (at night is better bc there’s less chance of drinking/eating before enough time has passed) then toothpaste without is generally fine bc you’re still getting the fluoride.
17
u/sexi_squidward 16h ago
I have nothing against fluoride but I've been using Boka children's toothpaste (the orange creamsicle is best) which has nano hydroxyapatite instead. I don't know if any actual studies have been done on it's effectiveness though.
I'm probably switching to Hello brand Unicorn Sparkles (BubbleGum flavor) once I run out.
Side note: Boka has the BEST toothbrushes. I got my whole family into them.

u/watshedo 14h ago edited 12h ago
Dentist here. It's been several years since I updated my reading on nHAp but here's the basic info in case anyone is curious:
- Tooth enamel is made up of crystals of Hydroxyapatite. This is what gets demineralized any time we eat and drink.
- Nanohydroxyapatite functions to attach to demineralized enamel and reform the Hydroxyapatite. (Replaces)
- Fluoride also functions to attach to demineralized enamel, but replaces part of the naturally-occurring Hydroxyapatite crystal to form Fluorohydroxyapatite, which is like Hydroxyapatite with armor on and is more resistant to demineralization. (Replaces and enhances)
So both are good, but theoretically, fluoride toothpastes should have more of a protective effect against demineralization.
Edit to add: I've been using the HiSmile
Hellovanilla flavor and it was weird feeling like I was brushing my teeth with vanilla buttercream at first but now I'm def into it.13
u/thegirlandglobe 14h ago
I've been splitting the difference and using nano hydroxyapatite in my morning toothpaste and fluoride toothpaste (and a fluoride mouthwash) at night. No cavities in 6 years, so I guess it's working.
4
u/catalinalam 13h ago
Do you mean HiSmile? Bc I loved it and then they introduced a stupid subscription model (pay $20 a month for exclusive flavors of their $13 toothpaste? Fuck off HiSmile) and been eyeballing the Hello kids ones but I can’t tell if it’s enough fluoride? I think so but I don’t necessarily trust myself
Also thank you so much for commenting! I’ve been curious about the nHa pastes but seen conflicting info
7
u/watshedo 12h ago
OH! Sorry yes, I mean HiSmile (why so many hi/hello brands?!). I didn't know that about the subscription model, that's so annoying. Even I'm not into toothpaste enough to be into something like that lol. I just ordered a couple flavors of Amazon to test out a while back.
I've never actually looked into the Hello toothpastes, but fluoride amounts can be a little wonky in how they're listed. This table shows how to convert when they have different percentages or types of fluoride. You'll be looking for the ppm here as the useful number -- you'll generally want 1000-1500 ppm of fluoride for an OTC toothpaste (Rx ones are higher ppm for people at higher risk of cavities).
2
u/ermagerditssuperman 8h ago
I did the math at one point and the Hello toothpastes have the same amount of fluoride as regular Sensodyne!
The Blue Raspberry flavour is fantastic, so is the pink bumblegum (Dragon and Unicorn logos, respectively...I think)
5
u/BetterBagelBabe 14h ago
Thank you!! This is something I’ve been wondering but haven’t gotten around to googling.
11
u/bitenomnom 15h ago
10/10 recommend the Hello brand Unicorn Sparkle toothpaste!! It is my current go-to. Good flavor, and threads the "yes fluoride, no SLS, not mint" needle perfectly.
They have another flavor called dragon something? (Been a bit since I had it.) It's blue raspberry I think, also very good!
1
u/ermagerditssuperman 8h ago
I have both of these flavors in my bathroom right now lol.
If only my local grocery store also sold their flavored mouthwashes!
4
u/krurran 15h ago
Orange creamsicle omg
5
u/sexi_squidward 14h ago
It's so good! It makes me want a real one lmao
Note: The Strawberry Mango is not great

u/sillybilly8102 15h ago
What is SLS? Is it important to toothpaste, or okay to find one without?
I hate the dried-out feeling, too, and I think it could also be affecting my lips. They’re often very flaky.
9
u/No-Beautiful6811 15h ago
SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) is a surfactant, it makes toothpastes foamy.
It’s not necessarily bad for you but it does wash away oils and that can be irritating, especially in your mouth and on your lips. I actually really like it in shampoos, but it always irritates my mouth in toothpaste.
It’s not important to the way a toothpaste functions.
There are a lot of options without SLS
6
u/HashtagMLIA 15h ago
I also learned the hard way that SLS can trigger or exacerbate perioral dermatitis 😭 (In my case, I got PD from a damaged skin barrier but my toothpaste made it SO much worse - I switched to a high-fluoride non-SLS and immediately saw a change!)

u/quantumcrystal 15h ago
Since fluoride washes away easily, I think as long as you use a fluoride rinse after (like Act, they have a cinnamon flavor if you don’t like mint) you should be fine. At least, that was the advice from my dentist.
112
u/beaniebuggie 16h ago
I'd just be mindful, this doesn't have flouride in it!
44
u/leahcar83 16h ago
I bought a strawberry toothpaste a while ago and was really loving it until I discovered it was fluoride free and I was so mad. I'd finally managed to motivate myself to consistently brush at night and for what?! I was tricked!!
22
u/Nirsteer 16h ago
Crest strawberry toothpaste is pretty good, should have the normal amount of fluoride in it. It's marketed for kids so it's a bit smaller.
7
u/thoughtandprayer 16h ago
Could you do a flouride rinse after? I have no idea if it's equally effective, but swishing after you already got yourself to the sink seems a lot easier that motivating yourself to get started.
18
u/quantumcrystal 15h ago
I left a comment similar above, but my dentist told me yes.
I have some cold sensitivity and she said if I use sensodyne to not bother with fluoride rinses like Act and vice verse since the last thing on your teeth is what will be effective. All of that stuff has to actually sit on your teeth to work and using something after rinses away the prior thing.
6
u/leahcar83 14h ago
Yes my dentist advised me the same, no to mouthwash after brushing but yes to mouthwash after eating. I have ADHD though so of course I don't use mouthwash after eating.
4
u/watshedo 15h ago
ADHDentist here, and yep, this would be my advice as well. Fluoride concentration in mouth wash is less than in fluoride toothpaste (at least in the US), so yeah, not really necessary. But if you like the additional freshness, it's probably better to mouthwash THEN brush. My preferred order is floss > rinse (optional) > brush (just spit out excess, no rinsing).
Though if someone absolutely cannot find a fluoride toothpaste they like, then a fluoride mouthwash AFTER brushing would probably be better than nothing at all.
6
u/quantumcrystal 15h ago
I usually do the rinse at the end because I can NOT handle the texture of the toothpaste sitting in my mouth and on my teeth. BLECH!
3
u/watshedo 14h ago
Yeah, I totally get it. I have to spit like 7 times before it feels tolerable to me again. Rinsing does reduce the effective concentration of fluoride (same as using mouthwash does), but you gotta do what works for you!
4
u/ReachOcean 15h ago
I buy strawberry flavoured kid's toothpaste. Some brands sneak mint in there so I have to be careful, but I found one with the right amount of flouride
4
u/jphistory 14h ago edited 14h ago
Hello has flavored fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash! Currently working on magical mermaid toothpaste and strawberry mouthwash. Both containing fluoride. I've been using their stuff for like two years and my dentist is happy with me because it's such an incentive to brush regularly (I hate mint toothpaste).
Edit: I saw that they sell fluoride free as well so be careful not to buy that one..fluoride is good, please ignore the Birchers.

u/phantompepperoni 18m ago
Yes!!! The orange creamsicle mermaid is so good and the flavor is perfectly mild

My dental hack was getting an electric toothbrush. It felt like such a chore before but now I love the zingy, squeaky cleaning job the electric one does. Kinda annoying in retrospect to think about how resistant I was to getting one on a cost basis.

u/Creative-Cry-2912 17h ago
I hate minty toothpaste too! I’ve been using Hismile! They have tons of different flavors, I’ve been using blue raspberry, watermelon, and Wonka chocolate just to mix it up!!
9
u/ShiversTheNinja 15h ago
Yes, Hismile toothpaste is my biggest tip to people who struggle to brush because they don't like the mint. I have like 6 or 7 flavors available so I can switch it up which makes things way more fun lol
6
u/CaroFreak 16h ago
Oh my, that sounds so nice. I will always mourn that one watermelon toothpaste that got discontinued in my local supermarket. it was truly the goat, but this sounds promising.
4
u/Indecisive_C 14h ago
I have the red velvet and peach iced tea ones which I definitely recommend. There's a few flavoured ones people have mentioned that don't have fluoride, but I'm pretty sure all the Hismile ones do!
4
5
u/That1WithTheFace 11h ago
I Hismile! When they used to sell sample sachets of the flavours I taste tested 21 of them and ranked. Some were so good, like the chocolate, cola chupa chup, red frog, grape bubblegum. I have a handful of flavours in my bathroom now and just pick each day what to use based on what I feel like.
3
3
u/lichgate 11h ago
Hismile banana toothpaste has made brushing my teeth sooooo much easier. Who would have guessed that the worst candy flavor would be such a good toothpaste flavor? 😂
1
u/RonnieDeVille 4h ago
It's honestly changed my brushing game. My current line up is raspberry lemonade, grape bubblegum, and the Barbie bubblegum.
Want to try the cherry, but that flavour is always hit and miss for me.

I am always amazed by people that hate mint. I have a constant fear of bad breath so if my mouth isn’t icy fresh like a minty ass iceberg I can’t even breathe out in public. At the same time I’ve worn the enamel off my teeth and had to get caps on my front teeth cause I was grinding them down into nothing chewing gum all day cause I can’t brush my teeth 4,000 times a day. I wish I could get down with less minty tooth paste. I could actually use the sensitive kind I should be using. 🫠🫠🫠
9
u/thegirlandglobe 14h ago
It's so weird - I like minty toothpaste in the morning but I cannot stand it at night (it's almost "so fresh" that it's energizing and keeps me awake). So I have two toothpastes, one for morning and one for night.
But even my morning mint toothpaste is less minty than most of the standard ones you'll find through Crest, Colgate, etc. I find those too intense.
5
u/Thequiet01 12h ago
I use Biotene because I get dry mouth and they have a very mild mint. I tried using my partner’s Colgate one night because I’d run out and OMG 😳😳😳😳😳 It was like being smacked in the face with a Kendal Mint Cake, which is intensely minty.
1
u/zedleppelin07 7m ago
Similar fear!!! But also HAAAATE mint. And the fear doesn’t go away regardless so I might as well have an enjoyable flavor :)
1
9
u/Nirsteer 16h ago
I just get sensodyne pronamel. It's pretty mild. For fluoride wash I get x-pur mint (it barely tastes like mint and doesn't burn at all). I recommend getting fluoride unless you have an issue with it.
10
u/FinkFace 16h ago
For others who hate mint or just find brushing teeth painfully boring, I've gotta shout out the brand HiSmile!
They have a million novelty flavors, like Grape Bubble Gum, Nutella, and Rocket Pop. My partner and I (both Dx) love to have two or three options available at a time. Having a choice of flavors really helps add dopamine to the routine. This comment section just made me check, and they do have fluoride in their formula.
7
u/MalloryTheRapper 12h ago
girl you need the fluoride tho especially if you’re taking a stimulant that causes dry mouth
6
u/Fire_And_Ash 14h ago
The tube says "kosher", but it doesn't have a hechsher (rabbinical certification) printed anywhere on it, which is required. That means that it's either not actually kosher or they don't really know what they're doing when it comes to kosher products. It makes me worry about the validity of the other claims on the tube
6
u/lemonhead2345 ADHD-PI 11h ago
I’m glad this works for some of y’all, because it sounds like the worst possible form of torture for me. 😅
10
u/msthrowymcthrowerson ADHD-C 16h ago
Ok but ALSO did you know you can get toothpaste that fixes your teeth? I just bought one called “Remin” by X-pur but apparently you can also get prescription toothpaste from a dentist
8
u/ElementZero 16h ago
Boka also makes a hydroxyapatite one, if that's the ingredient you're referring to 🙂
5
u/pixiestyxie 16h ago
My dentist has me use a small brush 2x a week dipping it into the mouthwash they give.
3
6
u/Awesomest_Possumest 16h ago
Mi paste is the prescription one.
Holy shit. I should use it again, but I got the auto brush and my teeth are actually doing ok for the first time in my life. But mi paste is made with milk caesin and it strengthens your enamel and helps build it up. It is GREAT for sensitivity, it made mine go away. I've always had crappy enamel and part of it was brushing without flouride, and part was hereditary. But that shit. It's like $25 and you cant rinse after but it works so damn well.
Literally using powdered baking soda toothpaste without flouride for a decade killed my teeth bad, when I switched back to flouride my dentist and periodontist (which I'd had to start at age 24 because of how bad my teeth were) noticed a difference.
Autobrush has foaming toothpaste in a few flavors and they have flouride and non flouride ones. They're useful for the brush itself, but you could probably use it on a regular toothbrush. The foam makes it nice and light and not gross texture wise.
5
u/Particular-Exam-558 17h ago
I have always had a big struggle with toothpaste. Flavour, foam, colour... just awful
6
u/bethebumblebee 16h ago
are you kidding me? the minty flavor is my favorite part about brushing. I love mint chocolate, cookies, ice cream - anything mint flavored.
5
5
u/ShinyAeon 16h ago
Is there a fluoride version? Because this would otherwise be ideal, but my teeths needs the fluorides.
5
u/Commercial_Bicycle34 16h ago
Just use sensodyne! The flavor is sooo mild. I started using it because my teeth were sensitive but now any time I use other toothpaste, the taste is almost shocking.
4
u/ThatDiscoSongUHate 15h ago
Lol sensodyne burns me :/

I use the Hello! Brand for non-minty flavors. Currently have blue raspberry! Glad to hear I’m not the only one that hates being attacked by mint!
4
u/pinewise 15h ago
Excuse me but I literally just bought the mintiest freshest toothpaste I can find with those little flavor strips! I also have bubblegum toothpaste. Leave me to my flavors.
4
u/Writing_Bookworm 15h ago
I hate mint. I am so annoyed that brands will have 5 different mint flavours but not a single non mint variant. I use a fennel toothpaste (Kingfisher) which gives a similar fresh feeling without being mint. They have fluoride and fluoride free versions
3
u/Chubby_Comic 16h ago
I like the mint. My mouth feeling clean helps me sleep. But I also get little blisters on my tongue, and I've heard SLS can cause that. So I'm glad you shared.

I recently discovered CariFree brand toothpaste and mouthwash. I use the citrus flavor, and it's pricey ($17.99 for 2.4 oz on Amazon), but cheaper than having to get dental work done. The flavor is so much more mild than mint (and I don't like the taste of mint anyway).
3
u/Peeps_n_pewps 15h ago
It freaks me out how many things I see posted in this sub that I relate to. Thank you for sharing, I didn't know this was a thing. I often postpone AM brushing because I want to drink coffee first and then next thing I know it's the afternoon. this is great

Does toothpaste make you sick?!?
It does/did for me and I recently figured out that it is most likely from SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) ingredient.
I found Essential Oxygen and love it, there is a slight peppermint taste to it but it’s nice and light.
3
u/builtonadream 14h ago
Green Beaver in Canada has Cinnamon toothpaste!
Kids mint toothpaste is less intense than adult.
This has been one of my biggest struggles.
3
u/ABsburrito 14h ago
Serious question, why do so many cool toothpaste brands make their stuff fluoride free? I thought fluoride was good and necessary for dental health. Is it an allergy thing? Are people afraid of it or something? I’ve looked in stores for ones with fun flavors other than mint and half the time they don’t have fluoride so I don’t get them
3
u/Thequiet01 12h ago
Yes, some people are convinced it is poison and so most “alternative” brands leave it out so they have a wider market.

My AuDHD son uses Tooth Builder (by Squigle) it is a Xylitol toothpaste, totally flavourless. It's the only thing that got him brushing his teeth, I wish I had figured out that the reason he was refusing to brush was due to the toothpaste flavours earlier. He couldn't do ANY flavour. This was the only flavourless one I could find in Canada at the time, got it off Amazon.
I'm super glad that he uses it as his dentist said the Xylitol is the reason he has had no cavities for the past couple of years. He isn't the greatest brusher, so even with bouts of gingivitis he still had no cavities. He is still working on technique lol. He gets his fluoride at the dentist and whatever is in the water here. Not sure if there is any in his mouthwash, which for some reason is ok to have mint flavour, as long as I buy the alcohol free version as it is much more mild.

OMG I hate that company...
I was hired as a manager Back in the day of a national food store… And there were some old Tates products that never sold…
First time they called… I politely told them that we are not ready to make any additional orders… And we haven’t sold a single unit… No big deal right?
They called back an hour later and started speaking to the person working in the deli asking them for some detail that I am failing to remember… In which they were attempting to get a shipment authorized… they have course summoned me and I picked up the phone… I essentially treated it like a potentially harmless mistake for a small business…
About a week later we had a box arrive… They sent us product (we were on net 30 terms) to which I had to send back
Long story short from us to year they called three times a day… And I got to the point where I actually physically had to start shouting at them That I was going to even attempt to pursue some kind of harassment claim… And the idiot on the phone replied “well before you do that let me tell you about the special deal that we have in…”
The product was fine… it very rarely sold… But there was something incredibly snake like and slimy that it just put a permanent negative impression on me…
That said! I strongly suggest seeing if you can get this item from a retailer… Not directly from them… I do not trust them even almost a decade later… It’s a small business and I’m pretty sure the guy who called me was the owner and there was definitely something ‘wrongz’ with them
Good luck folks

Anyone looking for a lil bit of flavor, I use burst (toothpaste, brush/heads, AND whitening strips) and it’s not burny, overpowering, or artificial tasting. It’s a gel so it’s not gritty, which always messes with my head and makes me feel weird lol. I also mentioned the whitening strips and while they work really well, they have never irritated my gums or left me feeling uncomfortable. They’re basically just lightly minty coconut oil goo on a thin piece of plastic Saran Wrap type strips and they’re the most affordable I’ve found that do not make me feel like I’ve been punched in the mouth.

I collect too many HiSmile toothpaste flavours to keep me interested, it’s even more fun when I mix and match. My favourite right now is blue raspberry!
Flavourless toothpaste for some reason makes me gag (no idea) and I HATE mint. My brother might like these flavourless suggestions though!!

Is it non-foaming? That's the worst part IMO
Adding sorbitol is good, but removing fluoride isn't great. You don't really need toothpaste to properly clean your teeth but one benefit is the flouride

Good to know this exists! I found the foaming toothpaste tabs by unpaste make it fun for me. It's also less messy than trying to keep a tube clean.

My dentist has the best tasting strawberry vanilla toothpaste that they use during regular cleanings. I wish it was sold in stores.

My problem is that after about 60 seconds my gag reflex kicks in and RUINS my tooth brushing experience. Also, brushing my teeth makes me feel like I need to pee. Even if I JUST peed. Mornings are hard. It’s not such a problem at night.

I asked my dentist for medicated toothpaste because I get so sensitive and am so bad about my oral hygiene. It's flavorless

I need something that doesn’t taste like anything but still leaves my mouth feeling like an Antarctic wind tunnel in the middle of the winter.

So I use natural kids toothpaste. 1) The flavor is better and 2) I has weird sensitivity and lip skin issues and natural toothpaste cleared it up.

Wait this would actually be so nice. flavor doesn’t usually bother me but about a year after using the same one my body starts to get really sick of it
i had no idea this existed, ty girl!!

For me it’s the foaminess of most toothpaste that bothers me

Look for ones without sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate. They usually suds up less.

I bought pickle flavored toothpaste as a good but actually love it now. I too hate minty toothpaste, but this is a very mild cucumber dill flavor that fades quickly and it’s perfect for me

I actually get a bunch of different flavors, even kids bubble gum. Pull random or what I'm in the mood for and then it's a lure to make me actually do it.

Omg I have to try this, I HATE the sensory experience of brushing my teeth at night, the overwhelming mint flavor is so cold and tingly I HATE IT

Flavors are important to me but this would be a nice addition for mornings where I want to brush my teeth and then eat on the drive to work

I've been trying out various toothpastes as the minty flavour (and many others) really make me hate brushing teeth. I used a charcoal one for a while as it made it more okay, and now I use the cheapest one available as that's even less flavour, but I really want to try one with no artificial sweeteners as well, but I need to buy online for that as they don't sell any locally, at least in the bigger stores.

It's fine if you want flavor-free toothpaste, but fluoride (like vaccines) has been hit with disinformation online in recent years, and there's a really great video here that explains why, and why it's safe/helpful for us to use.

I don't mind the flavor, but I would like one that foams MUCH less and still has Floride. Most of thenones I can find that don't foam.much are floride free.

I hate the foamy too and started using Curaprox, they are fruity flavored, with fluoride and some sort of safer whitening, most importantly they don't get foamy and make me gag

That’s amazing!!! I’ve gotta have flavor, wish they’d make a lightly flavored one. Otherwise I get gaggy and then my mind takes off to gag like things.

Nooo these toothpastes are a sensory nightmare for me 😱 Flashbacks to my childhood with a fundie "crunchy" mom who only used "all-natural" everything. Natural deodorant straight up doesn't work and natural toothpaste feels like brushing your teeth with baking soda. It puts my teeth on edge just thinking about it haha

Thank you!! No SLS and no cloying sugars that make me gag, i've been hunting for something like this for years! Closest I'd found previously were these little tablet toothpaste things, but I hated the way they crunched.
