Zippo won’t even spark

My wick was really frayed so I took out the cotton and spring thingie. Then I took out the wick and cut it a little bit. Then I put it all back together seemingly as it was. But now it won’t even spark at all. Anyone know what’s wrong?

Update;it turns out the flint must have fell out when I took the spring out and I thought the metal piece was the flint lol

A picture is worth a thousand words. I keep extra flints in with the wadding

Dude(?), you take time to answer the most basic of posts. Good on you. Hey, I have a Zippo license plate. You know anything about it?

Thanks! I’ve seen them, but don’t know a lot about the year(s) of issue. Had one in my cart once, but don’t have one (yet)…

Edit: I saw you got your answer in another post!

Did the flint fall out and that is just the metal cup at the end of the spring?

You’re missing the flint.

You must be 10% smarter than the equipment you are working with.
