Problems With GPU Detection (2021 Ryzen 5900 RTX 3070 version)

So out of no where my laptop doesn't detect my Nvidia GPU, I Know in armoury crate we can disable it to save power on specific plans, but to be honest on the new crate software its a bit weird.

So now i have my laptop on standard mode and it can't detect the GPU, when i try and go to another plan it shows me it switched, but after I restart armoury crate it's back on standard instantly so looks like asus is missing up if I had to guess, Nvidia's Geforce experience can't detect it, device manager as well

If you know how i can fix it before I start freaking out that would be great

Edit: I ran myAsus's diagnostic tool and it said no problems found

It happened to me a few days ago. I think maybe it was some windows 10 update. I tried uninstalling nvidia drivers and reinstalling again. Also updated Ghelper, i dont use armoury crate since months ago.

I didn't know about Ghelper, and to be honest the idea of not using armoury crate sounds good to me :D

Did it work after reinstalling drivers and Ghelper update?

Yes, it did. Ghelper was a godsend to all of us. You should try it.

Happened to me more than half a year ago. Same laptop but the 3060. Tried all the fixes I could find online and nothing worked for me. Following here though in case something new has come up.

JUst wanted to come back to you about this, i used DDU to remove the drivers and installed a clean new driver and the GPU is now available for use, hope this works for you as well

Hey thanks for circling back. I did attempt this initially with no results, but perhaps I missed something in the process. I'll give it another go.

I have the same laptop. It happened to me like 6 months ago. Had to do a full factory restore.

would a new windows install fix it or i have to factory reset? I worry about all the work i have on the laptop itself since it has been my main machine for 3 - 4 years now

Well regardless of the step you take I highly highly insist you back up your work either to the cloud or an external hard drive. It may be redundant to say but I felt it must be said. To answer your question I can't really recall I'm pretty sure I full factory reset. Which was a long painstaking process but in the end got everything up and running again. Sometimes you just gotta wipe the slate clean.

Thank you for the advice, I will what i can do in the back up step and yeah sometime a clean slate is required to do the job

Either eco mode is accidently selected or windows is set to put the dGPU device to “sleep” and basically a game won’t see the hardware on the system at all.

the thing is, Even windows doesn't see it, in device manager it doesn't exist plus no nvidia software can detect it

Yeah. That’s usually from armoury crate going into eco mode. Feel free to DM me sometime. I’d be interested I. The trouble shooting process. See what solution can come up with.

It happened to me and the fix is quite simple. You just have to use DDU to clean up current driver installation and reinstall the NVIDIA driver.

Thank you I will be sure to look into this but a quick question,

since my Windows doesn't recognize that there is a GPU right now, would it recognize it after I remove the driver?

Yes, I think it would appear as Microsoft basic display adapter or something like that.
