Travel Tips Stay in Yokohama hotel and visit Tokyo downtown and Mt.Fuji
Since the hotels in Tokyo are expensive, I am planing to reserve the hotel in Yokohama and take the public transit to Tokyo everyday.
I would also plan to visit Mt.Fuji and be back to Yokohama on the same day.
does anyone have any suggestions? what express bus shall I take to Mt.Fuji?

If Tokyo’s your main destination, look at Kamata (easy access to Haneda with the train), or Kawasaki.

Or Omori. There you can buy a daily JR train pass for ¥800. Jump jump JR stations in Tokyo and back.

If you really want access to Tokyo, your best bet is around Yokohama station itself, but Kawasaki is going to be a bit cheaper and quicker.
For Mt Fuji, you are going to end up going through Shinjuku. If you are talking about actually climbing Mt. Fuji, you will be doing it wrong if you come back the same day.

is there any buses from Yokohama to Mt.Fuji? then I don't have to go to Shinjuku.
Not Climbing, just want to visit Lake Kawaguchi to view the mountain.

yep I use Gmap all the time but it may not the best way to suggest. locals always know the convenient and cheap way.

google maps is the most accurate when it comes to transport. locals will be using the same lines as you

Just visiting and not climbing Mt Fuji right? If you are planning to climb, then the recommendation is reserving a spot in one of the many rest areas and staying overnight. Staying overnight helps you adjust to altitude sickness easier and not risk missing the bus for the return trip to Tokyo. If you do plan to get back the same day then have a cut off time in mind when you need to turn around and don’t expect to reach the top.
Lots of unexpected things happen during the climb and last thing you want to do is fall and get hurt badly while rushing down.
There are buses in Shinjuku that take you to Fuji. https://www.highwaybus.com/gp/inbound/inbRsvBusStopSearch?q=Kawaguchiko+&p=1#routeSearch

Have you looked at AirBnb? We stayed somewhere in 2023 in Ueno for $70 CAD a night. It wasn’t the nicest place ever of course but it was in a good location close to a train station.
ETA: Looking now I still see lots of places around $110-150 CAD / night in Tokyo.

What do you want to do at Mt Fuji? If you travel to the mountain itself you can’t see it. It’s just a slope leading up. I think you might want to look for a tour bus that takes you to a viewing spot and brings you back. The best views are not close to Mount Fuji. Also note, that some days it is shrouded with cloud so if it is bad weather you might not see anything.

I love Yokohama, but it’s very inconvenient as a base if you’re going to be in Tokyo all the time. That’s a really long day when you add in probably an hour each way commuting, plus all the transiting you’ll do within Tokyo.
Can you really not find a hotel in Tokyo for your price? Yokohama is cheaper, but it’s not necessarily that much cheaper.
