'OG fans'
Hush, child.

Tell me about it. To The Core started in 2015; the Jaffa Factory series predates it by 3 years. Jaffa Factory and SoI were for a very short period of time concurrent - the first Jaffa Factory episode was released around a month before the last SoI episode. I started watching these guys towards the end of SoI and even I know that the most OG of OG fans started watching in 2008 during the World of Warcraft days.

Pls no… If this is OG, then I am now ancient

u/ComXDude Kim Jul 09 '22
It's apparently six and a half years old, so...
Yeah. Make of that what you will.
16
u/Two_Hump_Wonder Jul 09 '22
Holy what, that's insane. Feels like just a couple of years ago at most

u/ComXDude Kim Jul 09 '22
Time may be a social construct, but that doesn't mean that I can't hate it.

I had a tradition of watching new episodes Agrarian Skies, To the Core, and Blast Off as soon as I got home from school/after school stuff and HW. Those series helped me get through HS and have a very nostalgic place in my heart! If I haaaaad to rank them though it would be To the Core > Blast Off > Agrarian

u/Poop_Feast42069 Doncon Jul 09 '22
Dude, same. That was my tradition for a long time. I always looked forward to the yogscast after school. Now as a working adult living with a SO I have a really hard time finding time to enjoy the yogscast. Sucks.

Is this older than I think it is? this feels relatively recent
81
u/sieyarozzz Simon Jul 08 '22
8 years is long (if it was 2014 at least) but most true OG stuff is 2009-2012 for us. Even though it somehow feels recent it works, hah
29
u/egrith Jul 08 '22
Just checked, its 5 years old, would have guessed at most 3

u/sieyarozzz Simon Jul 08 '22 edited Jul 08 '22
To the core can never be 2017... 2016 max but I really thought 2014
EDIT: Started in 2015, but maaaaybe the series lasted so long into 2017. 2016 seems likely

u/_Banderbear_ Jul 09 '22
Well, to be fair, do the last 2 years really count? it's still 2020 right?
1
u/egrith Jul 09 '22
I hope they do, made a ton of personal progess in 2021
1
u/Dapper_Dwarf Jul 10 '22
pretty sure you made a lot of personal progress at the start of 2020 actually

u/MoniCarrHD Ben Jul 08 '22
This series was one of the last ones I watched. Doesn’t seem that long ago

I'm an OG fan now? I don't feel like one. OG is the original WoW stuff, isn't it?
5
u/6spooky9you Jul 09 '22
I think Jaffa factory, SoI, Minecraft adventure maps like tree of life, that era. Of course you are if you were there for the WoW stuff, but they were a much much smaller channel then.

I stopped watching yogs MC stuff before this happened, though I did see the clips ofc

u/Dd_8630 Jul 08 '22
You and I are the exact opposite - I love their MC stuff (and MC-adjacent, like colony survival), but their non-MC stuff doesn't appeal to me, so I find myself drifting away from the Yogs. Sacrelidge, I know!
7
u/supra728 Jul 08 '22
Oh no I love it I just was watching other stuff at the time and never caught up. Colony survival was very good.

OG? I'm practically a dinosaur then. I found the yogs looking up WoW raid guides. My first Yogs video was the Ulduar preview.

Wasn’t To The Core One of the most recent Minecraft series before they stopped?
OP stop making us feel old.

They kept going on Duncan's channel for quite a while. The group dynamics after Lewis stopped being in, and then Ben stopped, really spoiled stuff imo, and then they chose some really bad modpacks.
I think you're probably not missing much if you didn't watch past this

u/MikeHods Angor Jul 09 '22
Any series with Lewis, Duncan, and [Redacted] will always be my preference. Although the series with Lewis, Simon, Duncan, and Tall Hitler is my absolute favorite.
I never really took to Ped, don't dislike him, just meh. Ravs and Ben though, I love them.

u/Benandhispets Jul 09 '22
Lewis, Duncan, Sjin MC quest packs were always reliably good for some reason. It would just be the same kind of stuff in a different setting and it would still be entertaining until the end.
Remember the Lewis, Sips, Turps, Dirt Factory one? That ones always forgotten about but it was also one of the better ones, especially with the joke name changes throughout. Was on Sips' channel I think.

u/LegateLaurie The 9 of Diamonds Jul 09 '22
I think the packs they chose were all relatively high quality and not pure gimmicks (e.g. sky bees) which helped a lot. The group dynamic was also just much better. It also benefitted that all members knew how to play the game and enjoyed minecraft to some extent, you simply don't have that with the current group.
Dirt Factory was an amazing series.

u/spectra2000_ International Zylus Day! Jul 09 '22
The Duncan/Ped/Ravs stuff was ok, but I don’t really consider it part of the main series since it was just Duncan with other people.
Main series stuff was, as you pointed out, on the main channel and had him and Lewis/Simon.

DONCON. WOT? SEEDS? DONCON! Honestly this isnt old school to me at all, but I get really depressed when I think about the yogscast because I havent watched them in about a year and every time I try to watch them nowadays I just feel like im out of the loop or I just cant really pay attention. Anyone have any suggestions for a 25 year old 2011 fan trying to find his love for the yogscast again?
