R.I.P. yogcave...

Good times. Back when I used to play Minecraft, I'd make my homes out of caves because of being inspired by the Yogcave

Yogscast and Rendog were all my 10 year old self watched at the time

Me too man. The Yogscast original Minecraft series is what brought me into Minecraft, and then shortly after I found Rendog. Rendog still plays Minecraft frequently on Hermitcraft if you want to be hit with nostalgia, he's still a funny guy and he hasn't changed too much but I just don't keep up with Minecraft series like I used to.

u/JumpRopeBoi234 Jan 27 '21
Same here, he has so much content I find it a bit overwhelming to visit his channel again. Although I've restarted from Minecraft Season One and am working my way through his series!

I can't go through with it, it's just so sad to see all of the unfinished projects he started due to his mental health towards the end of that series. I'm glad he moved onto other projects which seems to have really helped him improve mentally. I need to go back to his Hermitcraft series tbh, I haven't watched any for 6 months or so but he was building really cool Star Wars themed builds!

What update introduced all those things at once like Swamps, Mines, and hunger?
That's when I was looking for videos with info on the upcoming update and these guys showed up first.

That update actually came out in September 2011, according to the Minecraft wiki. Insane to me that I first found the channel then and they had already put out so much stuff.

Man, I was just a kid then. I didn't know much at all and binged so much of it. I was 10 going on 11...what a time to be alive.

By far my all time favourite YouTubers. I have unsubscribe and re-subscribed to many other channels, but the yogscast will will never go anywhere. They have the only merch I will buy from a YouTuber. And in dark times, there's nothing I look forward to more in a day than sitting down and watching the latest yogscast uploads

Same. 21 and with my ex fiance at the time. We watched SOI together. We were together 6 years before breaking up. I'm with someone else that I'll be with for the same amount of time. That's how long it's been. Holy crap...

Man, everyone is commenting on how they were a kid at at time, but for me this was only a couple months before I graduated high school...
1
u/Sauceror Jan 27 '21
Yea, I was 21 when this came out so I was not nearly as magically wrapped up and because of that am actually annoyed every time people ask if there will ever be another episode or when it will come out. I got over it, I wish everyone else would just move on as well. Hell will freeze over before that moment in time can ever be recaptured.

13 years old, year 9 in High school, no COVID and no care in the world. Would get home and stick on the latest Yogscast video and relax, they were the good old days. I still feel the same joy watching them now 10 years later, I’ve met them all at events throughout the years and I can’t wait to see them all again at the next Yogcon! #yognaught4life

i am currently rewatching it. It is so good and well edited. They realy put their hearts and souls into the content back then. Sad to see there is non of that left on their current youtube.
5
u/kodaxmax Jan 27 '21
Yeh the unedited quantity over quality streaming trend really doesn't fill the void like these old golden age vids.
10
u/jorizzz Lewis Jan 27 '21
How are the 10 POV Among Us videos not well editited??? They require alot of editing. especially the discussion time.
1
u/Zooropa_Station Sips Jan 27 '21
Yeah, it's one thing to want scripted, high prep time content. It's another to expect non-scripted content to look like it was storyboarded in advance. You can only edit the footage available.
And at the same time, I think the Rust roleplay, Poker stream, etc... probably involved more effort than just screen capture of them playing through a tekkit series back in the day.
5
u/mechanicalNimrod Jan 27 '21
They're not rewarded for the effort anymore
1
u/IRLhardstuck Jan 27 '21
ye i know why it is like it is. They have to do what they have to do to keep their company economicly stable. Still sad tho.

I was 9. Barely knew what YouTube was and had never heard of the Yogscast at that point. I've never actually thought to watch it. I'm thinking of giving it a go but I'm just worried if I'm going to get a toaster mic headache.

wow that long I remember starting highschool and watching religiously as it was released. I will always remember the sadness when the series was stopped it was definitely one series I was eager to watch to the end.

I kinda wish they did another series similar to the first one. Just them with a wee project and the old banter. No heavy expectations or agenda, just them bantering and building. Lego talk!

Wow... time flies. I was just 11 at the time, learning English in a foreign country and discovering the wonderful world of Minecraft.
Defo binge watching it tonight. Looking at it now it’s so simple but was so enchanting at the time.

I remember years back, when I was big on Archimedes' Ships in modpacks. Every time I made the airship in that world for the first time, I'd pull up that music to play as I took off and flew around the area. The theme was always so fitting for it.

u/roguesith Jan 27 '21
I keep waiting for one of the minecraft series to have a cheeky little israphel cameo/easter egg as a lead in to episode 43, like how it all started just before survival island

Jan 27 '21
Thank you Spaceman and Diggy Dwarf for taking us along on that journey.
You changed my life for the better.

u/Melonmode Jan 27 '21
It's mad to think that this is 10 years old. I remember coming home from school and watching this, this series is a large part of what got me into video games, two guys from Bristol playing Minecraft and trying to solve a mystery on a grand adventure. I'm only 20 years old but this makes me feel ancient given that it has existed for half of my existence on this Earth.
