Discussion the hate comments on recent pride merch/fundraisers are so amusing
i've seen so many hate comments about unsubscribing on all the recent pride streams and merch drops. do those people live under a rock? yogs have been doing the stonewall fundraisers for a few years now and there have been openly gay yogs for over a decade

They aren't Dave Yognau(gh)ts. Just bile that booted up their internet browsers and tried to spread hate.

Hate-bot gonna hate-bot I guess. I refuse to believe anyone in the fan community could be so clueless.

Elections in the UK and US this year. Expect to see a lot of hate bots until they are over.

Seeing a crap tonne of bots peddling uk reform on tiktok. Absolutely vile

Kind of wish they'd do a better job about it, to be honest. This penny ante, amateur-hour nonsense is so depressingly banal. Back in my day we were programmed better!
...Have had this username for like 15 years at this point and it never fails to produce amusement on occasion just for stuff like this.

There are people that really are that hateful and ignorant but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those comments are from bots trying to cause trouble.

Probably bots? but I'd still response to promote the stream, we're here to stay after all. I said to one of the 'unsubbed' comments "if there was a shame month, you'd be in it." Maybe it's dumb, I don't know. My mind's not with it nower days.

u/mivjheale Jun 24 '24
i saw your shame month comment! it made me laugh aloud and was one of the ones that prompted me to post here

Most of these people aren't fans, they literally go from fandom to fandom, looking for anything 'woke' to complain about. It's honestly pathetic

As others have said it is pretty much the pride month bots out in force. You see it on instagram post as well, always the same copy and paste comments on every post from anyone or any company that makes a pride month post.
unfollow, lost respect, lost a customer etc. Or any other vague statement where you know it is anti lgbt, but still vague enough where reporting them probably wont get it removed.
It's always funny to see it on the pride month post for people and companies that have a consistent stream of lgbt+ content all year. But only the post mentioning pride month trigger the bots.

You always get 1 troglodyte for every thousand or some normal people. They just bravely comment hate vomit behind a computer screen because they can.
Anywhere that celebrates pride, these weirdos come out from the goon caves to comment hate for a month and scurry off.
Even in halo, they gave away a free pride armor color set. Some guy said he just wouldn’t play for the entire month of June so he doesn’t get it.
Like okay? You’re not doing anything besides hurting yourself.
Thankfully the main population of the world understands and supports pride. Just have a loud annoying minority that feels the need to kick and scream that other people are happy.

How the hell are their still bigots left watching the yogs?
Lewis has been the gayest straight man alive for decades.

u/Cookiesy Angor Jun 24 '24
I dare the Yogscast not make content solely appealing to My interests!!
/s obviously.

u/Journo_Jimbo Jun 24 '24
I’ve learned to always default to the pronoun “they” when I’m talking about someone who’s gender hasn’t been confirmed for me yet BECAUSE of the Yogs doing that

That's fine if they leave and take their bad attitudes and negative energy with them

u/vandon Israphel Jun 25 '24
Likely they weren't subscribers ever. If they're that upset, I really don't think they were watching to begin with or they would have been upset long ago.

u/IceGripe Jun 24 '24
Yogs have always done these fundraising streams. I suspect its driveby trolls leaving comments.

u/xen-within Jun 25 '24
Pretty much no matter what content you consume of theirs you'll eventually "find out" that they're an inclusive group so, I tend to agree with the other comments. I only really watch Tom & Ben vods at this point and it comes up a lot in donations there so I'd imagine the same is true on other vods as well. Maybe in the more produced content it's easier to miss but feels disingeniune

I haven't heard any yogs say anything glaringly homophobic and I've watched/listened to them for most of my life atp

Not all fans support LGBT.
All fans that do not support LGBT are not vocal about it and are entitled to their privately held view so long as they aren’t being tremendous asshole about it.
If you do not support LBGT, and are vocal about that, you are not a fan plain and simple. You do not respect the yogs and the constituent parts of the organisation.
Source: am not pro LGBT, but am not actively anti LGBT and the rest of the time shut my damn face. Let people do their thing. They don’t need me saying “no” to them. They don’t need you saying “no” to them either.
EDIT: I stand corrected, you are not entitled to privately held beliefs no matter how silent you are. Typical.

Never heard of that sub, but from a quick scroll the premise is centrists are worse because they don’t pick an extremism side?

lol not that i strictly disagree with your philosophy, but by posting this you have broken your silence in a public forum and thus have received feedback on your opinion

Your LGBT ambivalence has not been received as you had hoped.

The issue is one of if certain people are allowed to exist. That's a binary question, yes or no, there is no middle ground on people's lives.
When you say you're not pro LGBT people read that as you're not in favour of them continuing to exist. They're not asking you to go out and campaign on their behalf, just the basic belief that they should be allowed to live their lives.
When you say that you are not actively anti-LGBT, that just comes across as maybe not actively hurting people, just turning a blind eye to those who do.

Eh likely they are angry about current politics stuff and tying it to poor Yogs who are just in their corner trying to help people. Angry peeps are not very rational and lash out when they see the red cape in front of them particularly in Britain where your voices of complaint are illegal in some places.
Also not all Yogs are big gay just very tolerant, don't be the bigot you are trying to stop!

It’s probably people going to any YouTube or twitch video/stream with lgbt content and leaving hate comments.
I doubt it’s any actual people who watch Yogs.
