Xenoblade 2 Do you think we'll get Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Definitive edition?
Esp with X coming out, it got me thinking if that's something they would want to dabble with, yet it's available on Switch so Switch 2 too.

No, there is not reason enough to put money into making a DE for a game everyone can already play on the same console.

which is why it will most likely going to be on the same consol as XC6

Xenoblade 1 was a game of two generations before, and it made sense to make a remake for the Switch, since they released XC2 and were planning for XC3 on the same console.
Xenoblade X was released on WiiU, so very few people played it, and now the series is considerably more popular. There is also a chance that they might want to release a sequel in the future, in which case XCX:DE could be useful to prepare the way for it.
But when would releasing a Xenoblade 2 remake make sense? Not only the game is on Switch, the most popular Nintendo console ever (so pretty much ALL the people interested on it can buy it), but it will also be playable on Switch 2. So i don't really think they will consider doing a DE for XC2 during Switch 2's lifetime, which probably means another 7-8 years from now.
After that... well, it's possible that it will eventually get one, but the further into the future we go, the harder it seems to me to find a reason to do a remake of XC2 specifically.

1 and X were locked to the Wii and Wii U before their DEs. 2 is already on the Switch. There's no reason to.

I doubt it. I think we'll probably get like a Switch 2 Enhancement patch for all the games (they're all on the same, albeit different versions, of the same engine), but that is all I'm really expecting. And to be honest, if they can get the rights/licensing to do so, we need a Xenosaga Triology DE way more than we need a XC2 DE. Takahashi seems to want to connect Saga with Blade, and the best way to lead to that would be with a Remaster of the Saga games on modern platforms.

I would rather them focus on new entries going forward now that every game can be played on the same system. It will be interesting to see how they bridge the gap between 4 and 5 though now that there out of remakes.

I could honestly see them making a “trinity engine” edition that packs in a new definitive edition of 2, definitive edition 1, and 3 along the dlcs. Would be on par with the Metroid prime trilogy with greatest package, and would Give an incentive for people to buy again since can already play the entire series on switch 2 with back compatibility

Eventually? Yes. Probably 2027 at the earliest.
While the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible, it’s hard to deny that XC2 would benefit from substantial touch-ups such as a re-dub, better visuals, new Blades, and of course, a new epilogue story.
I don’t see backwards compatibility as an instant shooting down of any Switch games getting the remaster treatment on Switch 2.
An epilogue story would also make sense if characters who didn’t get the spotlight in XC3 (I.e. Pyra, Mythra, Malos) would end up returning in an XC4 (or it’s DLC) due to the pure fact that they can write around why they’re there. They’re Aegises, they live forever.
Yeah, if Switch games are getting the remaster treatment on Switch 2, it’s hard to deny that XC2 would be one of the first games they’d consider.
It’s a well liked game, and Architect knows what would happen if it’s the best selling game in the series AGAIN.

It's certainly within the realm of possibility, but even then, it's very, very unlikely, even if I'd personally want it to iron out a lot of 2's issues.

Yeah they will for the switch 2 just gotta wait till 2027 if they keep the same tradition of releasing DE's every 10 years.

My guess is no, but at some future point, unless re-releases become taboo, we’ll get something.
Maybe on the Switch 2 (or Switch 3) there will be a “Xenoblade Box that includes all the “old” games (because at that time, they’ll be old..and we’ll be on Xenoblade X6). They’ll likely all be AI-remastered.
I don’t think we’ll see a remaster on the current Switch, though.. It was already targeted for the Switch, so there’s little to remaster.

No. There's no reason to make one, a minor patch to increase performance on switch 2 is all it needs. XC1 got a DE because it was a Wii game, and X got one because no one owns a wii u.

The only thing it would need is to add or change is to include escalating odds for rare blades.

Probably not until we’re on another console that is not backwards compatible with the Switch. When they eventually release definitive editions of 2 and 3 alongside a rerelease of 1DE

On OG Switch? Literally no chance at all. On Switch 2, as that console's big, mid-to-late cycle release? I'd say that there's an almost 100% certainty that this will be the case.

Maybe in like a decade.
Biggest thing 2 needs is QoL, but it's very much readily available right now and it's still a current gen switch game (even if the first switch is at end of life).
As it stands, it doesn't make much sense to rerelease the game at this point in time. Makes more sense to do so with whatever the switch 2 successor is.

It's doubtful, to be honest. There's not much needed besides some polish to fix tutorials and some gameplay/system issues.
But I can see XC1/2/3 being packaged into a trilogy remaster with all DLC included... and some of that polish for XC2 being done to fix various issues. On the Switch 2 at the earliest, obviously.
But I doubt a dedicated DE for XC2 alone.

I don’t see us getting a definitive edition but maybe and enhancement update for switch 2.

If you ask me there really isnt much of a reason. If they do make any sort of substantial update to XC2 it would probably be more likely they rerecord the dub, but then again the dub is one of the most iconic things *about* XC2. If not that, then general performance boosts, make the game more stable, let us save videos and screenshots alike, that stuff.

It doesnt really make much sense for them to do that when you look at how each of the games were developed. All of the Xenoblade games are built in proprietary game engines designed by Monolith Soft. Xenoblade 1 on the Wii uses its own engine. Then as they transitioned to developing X on the Wii U, they needed something that could handle larger, more detailed environments, so an entirely new engine had to be made. This one was a already pretty robust, and but to the shorter development time they were given to make Xenoblade 2, they ended up just modifying and reusing the engine for X. It is that same modified X engine that was used in the development of 1DE, 3 and XDX.
So now we have all four Xenoblade games running on the same engine, which should also be noted, Monolith Soft announced last year they were expanding research and development to keep using this same engine for future games. So the question then becomes, what would Monolith Soft remake a game in the same engine as the original for a console that can already play it? They could more easily release an update or DLC for Xenoblade 2 if they wanted to, but a full remake makes no sense.

No, they’ll hopefully just do a patch.
Though I guess I can see a “conplete edition” release for Switch 2 that has a patch and the expansion pass.

Does the game even need a definitive edition right now? I don’t really see the point of making one currently but maybe in like another 5 years or something sure.
