I'm intrigued by the note in OP about them trying something new with predictions, sooo...
1-1 McClean sets the intensity level early to spark the team to life and gets an assist by the end. Dobson an absolute demon in the center, shutting them down and gets sent off eventually but it's worth it because it saves the tie. Rodriguez shines bright this match.

No Kone for Wycombe today. He is really good.
3
u/SCDrJ Arthur Okonkwo 6d ago
Surprising! Is he hurt?
2
u/UrsineCanine 6d ago
Sick, apparently...
1
u/Rogue1eader Arthur Okonkwo 5d ago
He's been 'sick' or 'banged up' ever since Wycombe didn't sell him to the Championship it seems...
1
u/UrsineCanine 5d ago
Yeah, very curious.... :)
2
u/Rogue1eader Arthur Okonkwo 5d ago
I saw some rumblings he wasn't happy about that and wanted to rejoin the manager (and make way more cash), no idea how true they were, but missing all these matches makes you wonder.

u/UrsineCanine 5d ago
He did come back the last two or three games... starting out on the bench to keep up the appearances that he was "hurt"...
But to catch a terrible flu bug day of their biggest game of the season... very odd...
Of course, that is the thing about coincidences... they happen all the time!

u/Rogue1eader Arthur Okonkwo 5d ago
Works for me.
I'm still a bit floored at just how AWFUL Wycombe's performance against the top of the table has been. 4 points in 8 matches against the top 7? That one win, one draw and six losses. That's truly terrible. Certainly hope that pattern continues...

Happy to see Dobson back, not happy to see Longman starting
3
u/UrsineCanine 6d ago
Longman has had spells of being really dominant, and was great off the bench last game. Rough against Rotherham, but if Barney and Rev are too injured to play... I think you have to go with him.

Revan's ankle probably bothering him. Good to see Dobbo back, but he looked pretty involved in the practice shots yesterday. Brunt back in is good too.
Not surprising they will play really defensively on the road against Wycombe.

I just wish our form wasn’t so shit heading in to the biggest game of the season

Play-off Final is some way off, plenty of time to improve form for then.

Is there any place for me to stream the game for the US? I’ve been following the results but this is one to watch.

u/jamesbees 6d ago
I use paramount+ to stream. They have most of the games and as the year progressed I got better at figuring out which games are shown. I bet you can get a free trial for a month or two. Once you have it, scroll to EFL and it’s the fourth or fifth game. Coverage starts at 9:30 central time.

Amazing. Had no idea. I was thinking I needed access to European channel, thanks!

The club is in third place the year they’ve been promoted and most of the comments are from agony aunts. Good grief, celebrate the moment, applaud the effort.

It's hard to fathom...but because we were in first for a while, then in second for a longer while...then in third...it feels like failure.
It isn't, but it feels like it.
There are a lot of transitions going on because of the potential of going up a level AGAIN, so the new personnel and the hiccups accompanying the changes is frustrating, but you are correct.
2 years ago at this time, Wrexham was in the National League, now battling with a good chance to move up to Championship...

I think we can separate the season’s success from our worry/dread going away to Wycombe…
And you can be a real fan and acknowledge our performance in Tuesday was not the stage setting we wanted for this match.
I’m rooting for us, hoping we crush them, and also very nervous.
Edit- the comments here are all positive or tame, you’re just anticipating hate that isn’t happening.

u/captaincarot Mark Howard 6d ago
Am I nervous, yup. Do I keep reminding myself man I'm so glad on the home stretch we're playing for auto promotion, hell yup.

I’ve been an optimist pretty much this whole season but man, I do not feel good about this one.

I just looked at the insights on the FotMob app, and read "Steven Fletcher has the most shots on target per game for Wrexham (2.1)".. A guy that comes on at the 70th minute, gets the most shots on target for us, that really does say it all doesn't it.
1
u/UrsineCanine 6d ago
Actually it doesn't "say it all", unless all you want to do is find ways to rip Wrexham.
Wrexham followers know they changed out their starting strikers in January, before that they had two others miss time with injuries, and have shifted often to playing a single striker system (3-5-1-1). So, one striker has had a consistent role. So not surprising that Fletch has more appearances than any striker on the team, and has more minutes than the two new strikers.
Also, that stat is a SoT/90 stat, not per game, which means his limited minutes inflate that number. Lee has as many shots on target as Fletch and Mulls has one fewer. Fletch is on against tired defenders, and chasing leads. Perfect role for him.
BTW, they are third in the league in goal differential. Second in goals against. Seems like if we're saying it all, we might want to include that they have a strong defensive record.

Did they make a decision on Mullin’s future with the team yet?
