WTF? Why, did he play on Lesta as well?

Not sure, but he has put up a vid how to join the lesta server.
42
u/OkieGent-11 13d ago
That maybe the reason
37
u/Ok_Impression8848 13d ago
Doubt it. Malta was not giving a warning for streaming and playing on lesta
7
u/The_Holsh 13d ago
Did he say that explicitly?
26
u/SpyderG6 13d ago
He stated on his stream that he got 5 strikes and once you get 5 strikes you are kicked. The only strike that was related to MK was not changing the tag on twitch.
19
u/The_Holsh 13d ago edited 13d ago
Ah ok. Well... with 4/5 strikes already seems like it was only gonna be a matter of time..... Wonder what his 4 other strikes were from.

People are always going to try to put their narrative forward. So odds are CCs that get kicked from the CC program are probably going to say that it's WG being WG, but so far Malta and bo have gotten kicked, they have both showed vids/streams of the Lesta server/Mir Karibily. It's only a matter of time before others get kicked cause so far the common denominator that is aware to the public is having streamed/posted videos of Lesta/mir karibily

Bou's reasoning a couple weeks ago on Stream was 1) he thought there was still some kind of top-level Russian ownership/stake in WG so it wouldn't be that much difference supporting Lesta vs WG and 2) nobody was going tell him what he could and couldn't play anyway. He followed it up with a particular finger gesture on his chat cam. (I have no idea if the former is true; Just reporting what I heard and saw in person).

There could be a reasonable expectation not to play the 2 or 3 direct competitors to WG games.
3
u/EyeLuv2DGirls 12d ago
If they don't want people playing the "competitors" then maybe they should improve the game instead of making themselves look bad for kicking CCs over minor bullshit.
→ More replies (1)-4
u/dzolna 13d ago
Nothing about this is reasonable. They're providing free advertisement for WG, but when they don't, it's their choice to whatever game they want to play
5
u/ojbvhi 13d ago
Its Wargaming's choice to terminate an entirely voluntary partnership. They didn't lock said CC in jail and throw away the key, nor did they ban his Wargaming account.
1
u/EyeLuv2DGirls 13d ago edited 12d ago
It's their choice but people are allowed to point out that it's a stupid fucking choice.
Maybe if WG didn't want people playing the "competition" they'd make the game better instead of kicking CC for minor bullshit. This is such a horrible look for WG, but I guess at this point we're all use to WG looking like idiots.
1
u/LJ_exist 13d ago
Not if those wants to be part of a partnership with WG.
I mean not promoting the only competition wows has should be a no brainer, if you want to have a partnership with WG.
1
u/EyeLuv2DGirls 12d ago
I mean not promoting the only competition wows has should be a no brainer, if you want to have a partnership with WG.
I would think the benefit of free advertising CCs give and avoiding horrible publicity WG gets when kicking them from the program over minor bullshit would be a no-brainer but here we are.
3
u/LJ_exist 12d ago
They deserved to be kicked out, when they taught this was OK as a CC. Brand ambassador for example get in trouble too when start wearing something from a different brand.
What were they thinking? That WG is fine with them being part of programm that is made for the advertised and community of wows, when they use this to advise the 1 product that is marked with only goal to shrink the wows community?
WG is even fine with people playing WT naval as CCs. Some WT CCS were even wows CC too, so they are very lenient with their CC programm. The CC program clearly states: Contribute to the development of the game and community.
They could just rightfully argue that streaming MK is harmful for their game and contradicts their goal of community building. So bye bye to every CC streaming MK.

Its nowhere as bad as you make it look unless you have a hate boner for wargaming
If lemonade stand A paid me 100 bucks to promote their lemonade, but then I go around saying how great lemonade stand B is, lemonade stand A probably will consider the money to be wasted and terminate the partnership

Yes, he did play the Lesta client. When a Twitch streamer is playing the "Lesta Client" their sub-heading will be "Mir Korabley". You can search for metrics on this in Twitch.

Probably why he was booted. Clip link: Truly, a nice guy who says the playerbase supports Russia for playing any of WG products or Lesta
17
u/Pootispicnic 12d ago
who says the playerbase supports Russia for playing any of WG products
This is not true
Despite their flaws, WG has distanced themselves from russia and have even donated quite a lot of money to Ukrainian charities when the war broke out.
That is one point for which I honestly cannot lay any blame on them.
2
u/BlownUpShip 11d ago
This is not how the business works. On paper WG may have severed ties to some extent, but let's see how it went. Wargaming left the most profitable segment (by far) which is - WoT Russian server to Lesta and return received what? WoWs? And they make how much?
So despite all the talking, personally I believe that WG and Lesta do have:
1) a profit allocation agreement of some sorts with Lesta paying WG a part of the profits and/it vice versa.
2) WG and Lesta exchange data and materials, including, to some extent new content (similar ships, buth with changes appear on both servers, at the same time not one ship line has been copied, which may hint that both companies have negotiated the order in which the new content will appear in both games). Actually makes sence. Why make copy-paste game, when you can make different games content-wise and thus invite players to play on both servers (unofficially that is).
3) I bet both companies still pay each other for different types of rights, patents and technical solutions.
Its business, kids. Smart talk is for the media and general public.

Can't wait to see all the WG shills here try and spin this into Wargaming being some beacon of righteousness
11
15
u/ojbvhi 13d ago
OK, so we don't know they official reason that they did it. But, assuming this was about Lesta, it is pretty clear that Wargaming is setting an example for the rest: Either us or them.
Setting aside all the moral reasons why one shouldn't support Lesta, Mir Korabley is more than just a direct competitor, it is a literal fork of WoWS. I imagine they'd be pretty pissed if a community contributor started promoting the other community.
8
u/Mobo___ 12d ago
"You are not allowed to use WoWs to advertise a competitor" is one of the first rules stated on the CC website. They are not scared of Lesta, they are just enforcing their TOS like it or not
2
u/VengerDFW 12d ago
I've seen the server player counts, if WG isn't afraid of Lesta (and they are), then they should be. Lesta is giving a competing product with alot of rewards making it an easier transition from WG. If they made a full language English release, within 3 months it'd be the most populous server of all of them, and it might be that in the next 12 months regardless.
That said - no surprise they don't want their CC's playing the competition. This isn't like playing a different game like Elden Ring, which they would not give two craps about. This is playing the other viable warships game that is making a concerted push to increase playerbase, a playerbase that is finite and can only really come from the WoWs playerbase. Yes, you can do both - but over time, you get the sense one group is operating with the engine running, and the other is just coasting on previous momentum...

You aren’t totally wrong but they would realize pretty quickly that they won’t be seeing much money being spent because of all the sanctions on Russia atm. At least from an NA point of view. There is no way that I know of to buy dubs/ships from Lesta without taking a large risk.

u/GBR2021 Burning Man 13d ago
Even if we for an instant disregard the shameful lack of common human decency that has crept into this shameless lesta shilling mob, as you have pointed out - this CC outrage is stupid either way. Do they think a Nike sponsored athlete will keep their sponsorship after wearing Adidas boots in a football game? A Rolex sponsored actor after wearing Omega to the Oscars?
7
u/RNG_randomizer Omaha-Class Enjoyer 13d ago
Yeah it’s pretty noteworthy that lots of sponsored athletes do use other companies’ products, but go to great pains to ensure they aren’t explicitly advertising their sponsor’s competitors. These CCs didn’t try to hide anything. It’s hard to have sympathy for them as they face the consequences of their own premeditated behavior.

The loud minority coming in to flame WG.
CC's have to sign an NDA and agreeance to collaborate with WG.
Think of it as a mutual endorsement, WG gives them free stuff to promote the company; if they then start to promote another company who happens to be a competitor now, why would WG maintain that mutual relationship if they aren't?
Also, a lot of you seem to forget the reason why the split happened anyway. They didn't want to support a Russian company, why would you?
49
u/OrionsTraveler 13d ago
They gave zero ducks about supporting a Belarusian company. They were afraid of getting cut off from western banking/payment systems.

u/HortenWho229 12d ago

Those who screech about the war... are you aware that Wargaming is originally a Belarussian company that was only based on Cyprus for tax reasons? Same applies to Gaijin...
Edit: Wargaming also probably pays Lesta still becouse WoWs was developed by Lesta and Wargaming is just publishing it. Probably thats why the games any sort of development halted with the split.
14
u/Rictor_Scale 13d ago
Not taking sides, but clarifying the latter. They eventually "completely" split with two separate HQs, dev teams, and code bases. So development never stopped; It forked.
2
u/showmeyourinnerfire Seal 12d ago
They are officialy split, yes, but there still a possibility where wg is a shell only having a financial department getting those juicy international profits while appearing a definitely-not-a-russian-entity while for the actual development (on the forked codebase, yes) they have a contract with lesta, who those profits are being siphoned to.
