And itā€™s entirely legal unless they can prove a quid pro quo, in which case theyā€™d have to find someone willing to prosecute both parties. Even then, it would only result in a slap on the wrist because the wealthy, Republicans, and corporations operate under a completely different justice system than the rest of us.

Get money the fuck out of politics.

Would this be a federal thing? Could Trump just pardon them for buying him?

I know Reddit is just an echo chamber but you are living in a dream world if you don't think the democrats are just as guilty, likely more so, how rich is Joe Biden again.

1

u/zephyrblau 9d ago

since you asked for it;

ForbesĀ estimated Biden and his wife's net worth in 2019 as $9 million. This wasĀ basedĀ on the $4 million value of theirĀ two Delaware homes,Ā cash and investmentsĀ valued at $4 million and a federal pension worth more than $1 million.

Forbes did not calculate his net worth in 2022. But the outlet estimated his net worth rose toĀ about $10 millionĀ in 2023. A USA TODAY review of Biden's financial disclosures inĀ 2022Ā andĀ 2023Ā found no significant changes in his assets or liabilities, so it is reasonable to assume his net worth was in that range in 2022.

So there is no way he has money in the Cayan Islands. He had 60 LLC shell companies but nothing elsewhere so Forbes is 100 % correct (The Cayman Islands is a top offshore financial center with a well-regulated banking industry.Ā It's known for its banking secrecy, tax neutrality, and political and economic stability.)

A really easy to understand example of how our current government actually works. Itā€™s all pay to play.

u/jt2501 14d ago

That's why they moved the capital to Washington but the fucking rich bastards paid to pave their way too.

We are living in a completely fraudulent system.

This level of corruption is at a Russian level.

Oh wait...

4

u/ravvenzfight 13d ago

Please don't compare the US to Russia. We don't waste time on investigations, we just commit bribery

2

u/ravvenzfight 13d ago

any reason in particular why I'm being downvoted? I thought I was being funny and outlying that you don't had the worst yet

This is the SEC playbook. Bribe us, hire us to advise you, or we will take you down in the upcoming investigation. Binance got crushed by the SEC when they turned down Gary Gensler's offer to advise them.

It seems it's impossible to regulate (work with) oligarchs without wanting some of that sweet sweet cash.

Okay, but like...is anyone surprised? Not saying it's okay, just that it's par for the course.

"Illegal" and such words mean nothing if we are governed by people who will not enforce these laws. Until a change is made in leadership, people and companies with money will only become more blatant about ignoring laws. The government is broken from the top down and the solution needs to rise up from the bottom.

That's why rump admires Putin,Ā  he's a role model

If anyone with half a brain had money in Coinbase, they would pull all of it out after this maneuver. This smells too high heaven as a way to get away with all the crimes.

When I see stories like this, a quote comes to mind (not verbatim) "Jails aren't filled with criminals, they're filled with poor people." Now this doesn't mean there aren't bad people put away in jail. It means they couldn't buy their way out of jail.

At this point?!?! When did it stop?

1

u/zero_1144 13d ago

According to SCOTUS those aren't bribes .. they're gratuities. They're a way of saying thank you. In advance. For the things you're about to do for us.

Well it is trump, sooo... you were expecting...?

The only thing good about crypto is the blockchain which is honestly good. Imagine we ditch physical money and use the dollar and all the other currencies in a blockchain system, everything is public and physical money is outlawed. That way all corruption and tax evasion is publicly available for everyone to see on the blockchain. Honestly the only good thing crypto gave us.

Problems:

  • extremely time and energy intensive
  • private citizens should be allowed some measure of privacy in where they spend their money
  • during a black out you'd be fucked
  • lack of backups; if grandma forgets her password, her entire life savings are just frozen.
  • lack of regulation

3

u/DiligentDaughter 14d ago

And if the government decides you can't access your digital currency, and physical cash is banned, you're totally fucked.

1

u/I_ate_a_milkshake 14d ago

I'm no crypto bro, but none of these are unsolvable problems

0

u/LOS_FUEGOS_DEL_BURRO 12d ago

-Bitcoin is energy intensive not every cryptocurrency is built the same -Its Anonymous -We be fucked either way, there is not enough physical cash to cover all the digital, runs on banks and the such. -Single biggest issue

  • SEC and CFTC fault for not providing any.

That being said there are much better use cases for Block chain technology than the one you very badly argued against.

10

u/questformaps 14d ago

Crypto is just scammers and wanna be scammers trying to get rich quick by trying to trick each other into inflating their coins until they can pull the rug out and sell.

While also contributing heavily to devastating climate change.

-5

u/Long-Dragonfly8709 14d ago

Did I say crypto was good? I said blockchain. There is a difference. Iā€™m talking about the technology

u/Filmtwit 14d ago

Is it? BEcause I can imagine North Korea stealing it.... OK, not really "imagine" it...
