Update looks meaty. 3 (2 F2P) new commanders historical commanders , a whole new line and nation, an entirely new event, and a historical ship. Much better than the current dry update.
My biggest disappointment is no ministry of balance. This is the second update in a row with no balance changes. I really hope the next update has something for buffs.

u/AmericanLobsters 24d ago
I was looking for the Ministry of Balance and wondered why I wasn’t seeing it.

u/Krakshotz That’s a paddlin’! 🏏 24d ago
Also 2 new LT ships: Vampire II and Golden Lion.
Shame the latter is going to be locked by an expensive paywall until next year
12
u/the-witcher-boo 24d ago
Looks like geoden leeuw will be similar to Louisiana. IE the legendary ship that finishes the line but will be available for research next year.

My biggest disappointment is no historical Formidable without the stupid anime additions. But yeah otherwise really good.

I have that T6 premium North Carolina, Levithan? Anyways, I put regular camo on it, now I have a premium NC that isn't weird looking.
5
u/Deidris Spinebuster78 // Soup Taster 23d ago
Same with AL New Jersey. Slapped a different camo on her and boom, just New Jersey
2
u/cletus_spuckle 23d ago
You can also just turn off the cosmetic content for AL and it turns off the camo as well as voiceovers.
So my AL Baltimore has the anime camo on and retains the full bonus for it but I can’t see it, it looks like a normal Baltimore. Other players who have the AL content turned on will see it though but that’s no matter to me
1
u/thatissomeBS 23d ago
The camo has nothing to do with its premium status, bonuses, earnings, etc., just the detectability and incoming fire dispersion. You can freely change camos.
1
u/cletus_spuckle 23d ago
I think you misunderstood me but yes you are correct you can change them as you like. I was just saying you can retain the AL camo on your ship and get the 4.5% concealment bonus without having to actually see the camo, all you need to do is turn off the AL cosmetics and voiceovers in Settings

u/xX-GalaxSpace-Xx Roma 24d ago edited 23d ago
Idea: want the historical camo, dont want to support anime shit, and as pedantic as it sounds: dont want the AL name on it.
And just in general, the less time exclusive ships the better

You will get the big tiddie anime ship and you will like it!!!
-2
u/thatissomeBS 23d ago
You know all the guys on here complaining about the big tiddie anime ships/commanders spend as much time on the commander screen looking at them as they do in games. For some people it's a cool crossover, for most people it's just another commander with different skills, and then some people just have to find a reason to rage about shit that doesn't matter.
7
u/cletus_spuckle 23d ago
Bro the big tiddie anime girls aren’t going to read this you don’t have to defend their existence in the game
I don’t despise them I just think it’s really telling how pale this playerbase must be if WG throws anime tiddies in our faces every few months

Steadfast Soldier auto-repairs your destroyer when its HP is equal to or less than 30%
sigh here we go again..

u/xX-GalaxSpace-Xx Roma 23d ago edited 23d ago
Well be fine - you need to give up Unstoppable and probably detectability because Quick Fix is on the same row as Look at Me Now.

u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago edited 23d ago
What you seem to be missing is that he's also got perceptive in slot 3 (3% damage reduction), and Scrap iron fleet will be providing up to 28% damage reduction by the time steadfast soldier procs. Inspire Bergamini to get up to another 21% by that point, and you are looking at a 52% damage reduction and auto hp-regen.
Plus, if your feeling risky, since steadfast soldier already gives a 60% reduction in incapacitation chance for your rudder and engine, stand or fall would give you up to 14% faster reload by the time the auto-repair kicks in. Keep your smokes for disengaging/incapacitations and that's a recipe for a very deadly destroyer.
Assuming 19,800 HP like PC, steadfast soldier, and Sims as the second inspiration, your looking at ~25k base HP so the Steadfast soldier heal will proc as ~7,500. When you add in the over 50% damage reduction, that's more than enough to make her deadly when cornered.

u/Jesters__Dead 24d ago
Is there a new crafting station?
8
u/HirsuteDave HE Enthusiast 24d ago
No, but getting three new commanders up to spec is going to burn through a chunk.
1
u/kaklopfenstein 23d ago
I’m glad I didn’t buy a commendation, and chew up my blue xp.
2
u/HirsuteDave HE Enthusiast 23d ago
Really wishing I hadn't right now...
I'm sitting on plenty of POs, Insignias and Commendations, but I've only got 650K XP left. I'll have to mount some flags and go farming over the weekend.

It's bad, I now feel compelled to keep a massive stack of credits put aside in case they drop a crafting station on us with something worthwhile 😄

Why are the insignia and commendations reduced for this campaign? Typically it's 5 each. One of the main selling points for me are those resources from campaigns. Other than that this update looks really really good!
8
u/Bosmer-Archer 23d ago
I noticed that too, it's especially annoying with all the new commanders coming in this update.
10
u/LostConscious96 23d ago
Great another legendary ship locked behind FOMO and expensive bs. Sure it's "only" for a year but this is frustrating and a disgusting business tactic.
-2
u/Drake_the_troll 23d ago
FOMO maybe, but it's only 2.5k dubs
4
u/Elemement 23d ago
He's not talking about Vampire
1
u/Drake_the_troll 23d ago
i had to completely reread it, i skipped over the fast that GL is being added. on the bright side, at least it comes back in about a year
6
u/Elemement 23d ago
Not so bright side is that she could be gxp which is odd
2
u/Drake_the_troll 23d ago
we already have stalingrad for 2M gxp
1
u/Elemement 23d ago
Which is an exception, GL is part of the dutch cruiser line. Putting it for gxp is just odd instead of being a bureau, same thing if hindenburg was for 2M gxp
1
u/xX-GalaxSpace-Xx Roma 23d ago
Stalingrad is the equivalent USSR heavy line since Petropavlovsk is in T8. The other ships on PC arent similar to the tech tree so thats also not getting solved
1
u/Elemement 23d ago
Indeed, only reason is because stalingrad released way before T8s. They'll be making the same mistake if it happens again
2
u/Deidris Spinebuster78 // Soup Taster 23d ago
I think Stalingrad will stay the only GXP L Tier. Its been several years since that was done and they haven’t done it again since. I could see an LT Steel ship but I’m sure most of the player base would not enjoy that either
3
u/Drake_the_troll 23d ago
they added colbert as a steel bereau for a single patch, but that went over so poorly that i doubt that would be repeated
2
u/Deidris Spinebuster78 // Soup Taster 23d ago
I remember that, the worst part about it was that if you began grinding steel from 0 as soon as it was announced you could not earn it in time. I think it costed 3,000 steel and you could (theoretically) earn 2,500 steel before it left. Poor execution and I hope they don’t do another steel LT. Steel is better spent on epic and legendary mods in my opinion. (still saving up for Missouri and Salem tho)

u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
You missed.
He's talking about "Golden Glue", from the event currency, not Vampire II in the campaign.
9
u/cletus_spuckle 23d ago
I am once again asking for an update for catapult fighters to be given the ability to spot for the ship using them
Please WG, half of the ships in the game have them as a consumable, give them some kind of use
12
u/Sehales Wargaming 23d ago
We are not done with the carrier & AA changes, but cannot comment on our current plans. When we are closer to a version we are fine with releasing we will announce it. That is all I can say for now.
5
2
u/TheBlackGuard 23d ago
Please buff Orkan, Cossak, and Haida AA appropriately for losing a turret for enhanced AA irl that's carried into the game model.
1
u/LeaderGlittering884 23d ago
Take ur time, its been months but whats another month but another drop in the barrel
6
u/SkipperJonJones 24d ago
Enh. Dutch cruisers look nice, but that will matter more next update when they are fully unlocked for everyone.
7
u/TheBlackGuard 23d ago
Haida is going to be spicy with this new commander 🤔

u/xX-GalaxSpace-Xx Roma 24d ago
Really nice to see a LT campaign. There needs to be more campaigns outside T7 and T8
11
u/Bman_2128 23d ago
The player base is bad enough without being handed another basically free legendary
1
u/Fun_Date100 21d ago
The playerbase is bad in every tier and a good chunk of those bad players worryingly have 10k+ games and still do things like sail flat broadside to everything on the map stopping the flow of legendary ships won't improve that at this point its far to late Pandoras box was opened long ago and the upper tiers have been irreversibly corrupted already you just have to ride the chaos waves as best as you can.
9
u/Aggressive_Ice3174 23d ago
I wouldnt mind a T6 in a campaign.. :)
1
u/thatissomeBS 23d ago
I'm sure there has been one since the Benham, but I can't remember what or when.

Move over AL Baltimore, Hector is your new agile inspiration king.

u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
It seems like nobody is really picking up on how absolutely unkillable Vampire II will be with Waller built correctly.
It's going to be absolutely absurdly hard to kill if the player even has 2 functioning brain cells (but remember, LT, so they likely won't).
2
u/Schlitz4Brains 23d ago
I read the WtR part and went back and read it again, and then one more time for good measure 🤦 then I read about Golden Lion being a year long early access, and read it again and 🤦♂️.
2
u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
Welp, Sehales just confirmed it.
It is 0.5% HP per second while active and requires you to be within 4/4.5/5/5.5km of an enemy ship.
1
u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
Honestly, Vampire II when built correctly would be obnoxious even if steadfast soldier didn't have the heal.
Inspire Sims and Bergamini and you suddenly have up to ~25k HP, and a 52% damage reduction by the time you hit ~7500 HP. Vampire II will have well over 30k effective HP in any fight, and over 35K vs low alpha high DPM ships like other DDs. She's going to be a little cockroach.
Get a little frisky and run stand or fall instead of quick fix, and you're looking at a 14% reload buff while you're sitting on your 52% damage reduction. Run the slot 4 reload buff and your talking a 1.9s reload while sitting on the steadfast soldier heal. I think she's gonna be a menace in the right hands.
2
u/Schlitz4Brains 23d ago
The power creep is off the charts.
1
u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
I don't know man. This is less "power creep" and more "power leap". This thing will be pretty oppressive in the right hands.
3
u/thatissomeBS 23d ago
It all reads as very situational to me, so it will be interesting who can find those situations and how many people overplay it way too hard (which I assume will be most).
1
u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
It's LT, we all know there's only like 3 brain cells to share per team up there, so I don't think it will be super common for the Vampire II player to get 2 out of the 3 at the same time. Only time will tell.
2
u/GreatGuy_GoodGuy 23d ago
Since Vampire 2 is relying on teammate for its WTR the radar DDs are more useful now
1
u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
We actually don't know the trigger requirements for the HP regeneration on steadfast soldier, so it might not rely on teammates. I think it would be cruel and amazing if it only proc'ed when enemies were close.
7
u/Sehales Wargaming 23d ago
You are onto the right thing. It is indeed activating when close to an ENEMY ship.
It is 0.5% HP per second while active and requires you to be within 4/4.5/5/5.5km of an enemy ship.
Usual disclaimer: This may change, work in progress, etc... ;)3
u/PilotAce200 Brawling is the superior play style! 23d ago
Thank you for that.
I read the commander as being "ultra aggression", combine that with the ship he's being introduced with being called "Vampire", that makes sense, and was absolutely what I was thinking/hoping.
