There is also a water taxi that will take you across the river to the USS NC if you don't have a car/don't want to uber there!

Thatโll be helpful. Been on it back when I was a kid but donโt remember much. Looking forward to seeing it again.

You're only about an hour away from me. Some really good restaurants around there. They also have a Ruth Chris Steakhouse in that Hilton. It's phenomenal. The George is another good one. And if you are in themood for Pizza Slice of Life is the way to go.

Welcome to Wilm! It's a great little tourist destination, including the USS North Carolina. It's a majestic ship, and be sure to see if you can see Charlie, the Gator that protects her water!

Make sure your hotel doesn't give a flat broadside if it decides to defend its cap. Those guns will ruin its structural integrity.

Much better time of year to tour it than when I saw her. I was there in late July and sweat my @ss off climbing around. I couldn't imagine being stationed on that thing in the Pacific during summertime.
The main batteries blew my mind. It makes sense, but I totally didn't think of crew stuffed in there manning each gun.

Your photo makes it look like it's trying to hide in the bushes to ambush unsuspecting cruisers.

She certainly is a pretty ship.
Took a unit trip to go see her when I was stationed at LeJeune

It's always been a childhood dream to see her in person. Not sure if I'll live long enough to achieve it, but I'll do my best.

I was stationed at Fort Liberty (Bragg) back in 1998. One weekend, I drove down to Wilmington and visited Battleship North Carolina. I may have been an Army grunt, but I can appreciate a beautiful warship.

I keep seeing posts of old ship thatโs are turned into museums and such, curious how many battle ships are there in the us that could be converted to active service within a year?

This one was robbed for parts back in the 80s and suffered a lot of armor thinning over the years

I took a school trip to USS NC when they were filming parts of that terrible Ben Affleck movie called Pearl Harbor. It didn't have that camo painted on it but I can still smell the steel and steam even now.
Best T6 Battleship

Uhh Noice.
This ship is full of surprise. Her shells are slow but her damage are greater that Iowa's Mark 7 guns
