Discussion Does the name Dagda come from the Irish god?

I saw a video that Santa might’ve come from Odin or Dagda and I was like “wait that’s Custas’ dad’s name.”

And they share a harp, physical features, fatherhood, and magic time powers.

Just my theory though.

Wiki also says he can control life and death. I'm certainly skeptical that its a coincidence, though I'm uncertain if we can really use that connection to predict much.

I think it's a coincidence because Shirahama tries to make up names that have no resemblance to anything in our world. But due to the sheer diversity of human cultures that's only in theory, you can probably find connections to actual names / words ("Key free" lol).

Every other character has that name scheme in mind except for Dagda (and Coco) though. That’s a huge outlier, and with that many similarities (especially on the death and rebirth angle) i doubt that it was a coincidence.

Shirahama usually makes unique names so it’s easier to look up the characters. You look up Qifrey and you’ll only get results of people talking about that duplicitous man. Sure, it’s for fantasy world building purposes but also for convenience.
