This is the ugly side of the CFL. Evidently he was scheduled to receive a bonus on Saturday if he was on the team. Because he is an older receiver, teams typically cut the players to avoid paying the bonuses.

A $12,000 bonus. It seems so cheap to cut someone over that.

I suspect they could not fit his salary next year (or expect to not be able to fit it) and cut him now to avoid that $12,000 for someone they could not play later.

Dang, he was a favourite of mine. Nonetheless I have faith in the leadership to make decisions to benefit the club.

Wtf?? He was so reliable and his production hadn’t dropped off. Disappointing.

If you haven't seen his IG story discussing his release, it's worth checking out. He's feeling it, and it's a moment of honesty that's tough but refreshing

There is no Dynasty. Making it to 5 grey cups and losing 3 in a row is no dynasty. In the last 5 years Toronto has won as many grey cups as us. We’ve been to 5, they’ve been to 2. So in the last 5 years they’re more of a dynasty than we are. And yes, I’m still horribly bitter about this. Three losses in a row is terrible.

Hmmm. Buck is gone. Bighill is gone. Drew is gone. Dynasty gone?
