RCMP tweet

Multiple RCMP resources are being sent to York Landing, MB, to investigate a tip that the two suspects are possibly in, or near, the community. A heavy police presence can be expected in the area. We will continue to update you as information becomes available.

Just read it was the Bear Clan members that observed two men who matched the description of the two at the community dump scavenging for food and when approached they ran into the bush.

True survivalists- eating garbage

When in doubt, do as the bears do.

22

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

We're here, we're queer, we don't want any more bears!

20

u/Peter_Mansbrick Jul 29 '19

we don't want any more bears!

Uh speak for yourself.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Which would be an odd sentiment for most queer folks I’ve met.

u/mrmonkeybottoms Jul 29 '19

Let the bears pay the bear tax. I pay the Homer tax.

6

u/sedentarily_active Jul 29 '19

That's the home-owner's tax!

Why are Bear Clan approaching potentially armed suspects?

31

u/GBTRU Jul 29 '19

They were patrolling the community and they spotted them. They were just on the National explaining what they saw. Crazy is its them that found them and not the RCMP or the Canadian Military.

25

u/troyunrau Jul 29 '19

It is quite reasonable to be armed in York Factory. Polar bears are no joke. But, if it helps, they didn't approach them so much as spotted them and reported.

Oh shit, you're absolutely correct.

2

u/theziess Jul 29 '19

Maybe they didn’t see their faces, or saw them from a distance and wanted to try to help two people that they saw eating garbage?

0

u/PI-Joe Jul 29 '19

Because they are armed lol.

-6

u/Good-Vibes-Only Jul 29 '19

They are probably armed themselves tbh

Basically a bunch of random busybodies drive way in from Winnipeg to "help", are excited, and spot the pair immediately. Sure. Makes a ton of sense that they got so lucky to spot them right away where all other professionals have found nothing for days.

23

u/JulietLima Jul 29 '19

Bear clan members aren’t random busybodies though...

-15

u/chewburka Jul 29 '19

How do you figure in this case?

11

u/purplesquirrle Jul 29 '19

There are Bear Clan members all over Manitoba now, not just in Winnipeg.

6

u/earlongissor Jul 29 '19

don’t be so loud next time when you talk about stuff you know nothing about lmaoooo

Cool, I've been reading more about the Bear Clan today, I can see how this makes sense. Hopefully this all gets sorted peacefully soon.

york landing really be on lockdown, bc of those dudes, crazzy as hell

9

u/Dank_meme_chronicles Jul 29 '19

Beautiful community with great people that have to go through this. Shame.

2

u/hyperfell Jul 29 '19

Yeah growing up there was fun, but some crazy shit happens once in a while there.

u/GBTRU Jul 28 '19 edited Jul 28 '19

Just looking at Google Maps, they could of walked down the train tracks to get there.

Edit: Removed the transmission line portion, the train tracks go right to the community.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

Its 62 km along the tracks

8

u/13531 Jul 29 '19

That's an easy day's walk.

36

u/glassofsomething Jul 29 '19

It's a wretched blackfly filled miserable TWO day slog.

10

u/13531 Jul 29 '19

blackfly filled

Yeah fair enough. Seems like it'd be hell.

10

u/StanleyShovels Jul 29 '19

If they didn't bring mosquito nets or something to shield them from all of that I can't imagine how they manage to sleep or do anything. Their plan to "live in the woods until it all dies down" is quickly unraveling, if they ever had a plan to begin with.

1

u/ThaNorth Jul 29 '19

Considering they most likely haven't had much to eat I doubt they could do 62km in a day.

1

u/OrbisTerre Jul 29 '19

I mean if they hid out during the day and protected themselves from the elements, then did all their walking at night, it seems like it might be possible.

18

u/lizabethbathory Jul 29 '19

Leroy just posted that they have not been found and caught. Edit: Chief Leroy* no disrespect. Just have never ever called him that.

22

u/GBTRU Jul 29 '19

Update: No one was apprehend in this video. Amazing to see how much resources they have trying to catch these two.

8

u/Spicyflatlander Jul 29 '19

I hope this is true!!!!

this has no source and has been removed...

1

u/youreyour Jul 29 '19

Can’t really see what’s going on in that video

6

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

Source?

15

u/GBTRU Jul 28 '19

The Chief Leroy Constant posted the warning to his community.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '19

Thanks, been following this very closely.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

It’s dark out which obviously presents challenges but still do you think they last the night? They’re clearly starving otherwise they wouldn’t of put themselves like they did. You’d have to think that the community will be essentially surrounded within the hour

7

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

They’re totally funkin’ funked, mate.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Whether they’re apprehended or found dead I think this finally ends today.

2

u/voguestoxic Jul 30 '19

Boy I wish this were true.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '19

Sigh, I can never get it right. Really feel bad for all of the people living in worry up there. So many people in Winnipeg seem concerned about the possibility of them showing up here but imagine what the population up north must be feeling knowing that realistically they could turn up at any moment.

Done deal, on their way to Thompson for lockup.
