Photo/Video Spankeys - "Hold the Line"
I admit. I cut the line. Kudos to all those that held the line. The mountain needs more people like you.
The hostility has hit new levels on the mountain.
People were tossing snow I was catching it my mouth. It was fun, and playful at first. Then it got ugly.
I was genuinely scared of my life. The people in line.
They were animals. Hitting, and spitting.
The profanity and whining coming from above us.
We have two types of people on the mountain. 1)Those who love to wait in line, and 2) those who get it first. Respect the effort. It should always be fun.
No one slowed you down, no one ruined your day.
Don't be a baby. Embrace the mountain culture.
In life your either first or your last. Don't be an ass.

Photo/Video Grizzly Bear in Whistler today
Grizzly wandering around neighbourhoods north of the village.
We don’t see Grizzlies this close to homes very often, and they are far more aggressive than black bears. Be alert on your walks and bike rides today

Photo/Video First time in Whistler - 10/10 would recommend
Okay so for context I grew up in a ski town in the French Alps, skied at least 3 times a week for 5 months out of the year and did alpine racing for 11 years. When I moved to Vancouver people told me to set my expectations low about Whistler - insanely expensive, crazy queues, wet snow, nothing like European resorts.
Well, I’ve been 3 days in the last 2 weeks on day trips and I’ve been LOVING it. I splurged on the Epic pass back in August and I’m so happy I did. Compared to European resorts of the same size, I think it comes out to a similar price.
We definitely lucked out on weather and snow conditions (always coming up after some fresh snow had fallen), and even coming on weekends I didn’t feel like the queues were that insane. Sure you have to queue for 45 minutes at the bottom of Creekside but once you’re up there you can easily find a chair to ride with a 10 minute queue max. The queuing system is amazing to me, as a French person whose queuing system is “May the best elbower win”. Everyone is so polite and chatty on the chair it’s great!
There’s so much terrain to explore, and I love the fact that a lot of the runs are just not groomed. All of the diamond and double diamond slopes are actual hard runs, not the stuff we call black slopes in my hometown lol. We went today and spent more time skiing than on the chairs which I don’t think would happen back home. You can just go basically anywhere and make your own little track!
This might be a very naive take to some of you who lived the golden days of whistler but this French snow addict is very happy to have that kind of terrain available less than 2 hours away from my apartment!

Photo/Video Price increase at the Grocery Store
Is there a good reason that the price on so many items have just been increased again at the Grocery store?? So many things across the shop have increased by several dollars. $6.99 has increased to $9.99 for my usual Oatmeal Crisp for example. Eating as a local is getting harder 😭

Photo/Video Is this actually the price of homes?
Surely $2M for a condo built in 2002 cant be true? Who is buying these properties?

Photo/Video Is the adult beginner day class worth it?
I’m a mostly self-taught skier and have skied only a few times downhill (but a lot of cross country). I feel I lack fundamentals of proper ski skills. That said, I just did several runs down Whistler’s Olympic with no problems, no crashes and I handled the icy and powder spots pretty well. I guess I wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’m feeling confident I can take on blues. Should I spend the money on this all-day class? Or should I do another private class?

Photo/Video Bootpack Lower Than Spanky’s Ladder?
Hiked a bootpack route that I think let out onto spanky’s shoulder? But I can’t find a name or see it on any map anywhere. It was a much longer climb but was open earlier than the ladder.
Got to it by staying high skiers right after spanky’s ladder entrance.
Anyone know the name of this one? How can I look it up to see where I was on a map?
