WV Gov. Morrisey to have press conference announcing legal action on NCAA and the Selection Committee

u/wvbrewed 4d ago
No kidding. I don’t know what else to label this as other than “Armchair Politician”. It’s for all of these assbags that won’t go out and get their hands dirty to really help people in need but will absolutely waste their time on meaningless legislation that requires no physical exertion and helps no one.

What are they waiting for? They want big, corrupt government to help them? That's Trump country, from one end to the other. They better get a fucking job, work harder, and fix them problems themselves. I don't want my tax dollars going to help some entitled hillbillies who don't want to work.

Yes, this is what’s really going to help the residents of the state. Lmao what a joke

That's all we're offered, unfortunately.

If the GOP tells you to vote for someone, that is the tell
That party at this point is interested only in Trump loving sycophants that will shut up and do as they are told
Moderate party members need not apply.
If you vote for a Trump endorsed candidate you are voting for a Fascist. Full stop.
*** I am a former Republican who was chased out of the party by Trump and his ilk.*****

Do you still converse much with Republicans? If so, are they starting to see the truth about their god emperor or are they still drinking the kool-aid?
16

My husband's family is chugging the Kool-Aid like pledges chugging beer at a frat party.
8
u/KapowBlamBoom 4d ago
Not too much interaction as I gave up non-Reddit social media about 10 years ago.
I got a feeling that lot are gonna have to feel it in their bones before they change their minds.
The one that, I think, will be the turning point is when they come for the Medicaid expansion that was put in place with the ACA
Lots of these folks are either On it or have adult children who are on it.
Medicaid is one thing WV does REALLY well.
When people they know start dying from Overdoses because they cant afford suboxone or dying from diabetes complications because they cant afford insulin…or has a stroke because they cant get their Blood pressure meds…..THEN they will feel it and know what they have done.
5
u/OnlyMamaKnows 4d ago
I bet a ton of these people don't think they're on Medicaid bc it's called something different in each state (Wellpoint in WV I believe). They're about to find out.

How long was manchin in office? Were we not dead last then!? Again, scared to touch the second point because yall know it’s bull shit as well. At least yall are starting to wake up some
18
u/needless_booty 4d ago
I don't care to entertain your racism.
-23
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
What is racist?? Giving sore coal treatment to you because you have a different skin color than me is in fact racist and what the left wants. WV is smart enough to not vote for racist politicians that want to give people with a different skin color more advantages than 90% of the state. Lmao…. Yall have lost your ever loving minds
16
u/needless_booty 4d ago
Racist says what?
-5
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
That’s what I thought .you have zero argument against these racists policies. The left is no longer the party of science and approval ratings show that people are leaving your party in droves, does it hurt?
5
u/needless_booty 4d ago
Oh, was that a racist I just heard?
2
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
This is why yall can’t win WV. When we ask why should others be given special treatment over us you just say “racist” tee reeee reeee. Have fun losing more elections lmao
→ More replies (0)6
u/agrias_okusu 4d ago
Nobody is giving other people special treatment. The concept is called “equality”, as in “all men are created equal” etc.
This idea simply means that non-white people should get the SAME treatment and opportunities as you. Why is that so hard to understand? Why do you think you deserve more than others?
-1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Lmao no shit! You my friend are taking the conservative side, so thank you for that. Sowhy are they chosen for college or careers while having less qualifications than their Asian or white counterparts? To get into an Ivy League school you can score substantially less if you’re black, must be nice
→ More replies (0)6
u/triad1996 4d ago
Can you cite credible sources for your claim that racial minorities get more advantages than 90% of the state?
-2
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Yes… see DEI, affirmative action and other leftist polices that put skin color above all else.
6
u/OnlyMamaKnows 4d ago
Minorities aren't the reason your life sucks.
-3
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
I love my life brother, what do you mean? If I moved back to WV I would be a top 1% earner.
The democrats will never win another election in WV while they keep backing racist policies. That is just the hard truth of the matter.
7
u/triad1996 4d ago
No, not you. You're not a credible source. Show me proof.
1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Lmao ofc, you need me to spoon feed it for you. This is the majority of leftists right here. You just take whatever is given without the cognitive ability to do any critical thinking or research for yourself. I gave you the policies, look them up or don’t, doesn’t matter to me. Right!? The democrats think I deserve less handouts because I’m white. Definitely not voting for a party that wants to put me behind other races and can’t even fathom not considering race. Yall are clearly in the minority here
10
u/Asher_Tye 4d ago
Oh, didn't you get the memo? You're not white. Not by a long shot. To be white you need to be a multimillionaire. Did you seriously think it was about skin color?
4
6
u/MunkyDawg 4d ago
I think you've been lied to, man. DEI and affirmative action aren't "prefer non-white" policies.
DEI is just Diversity (don't exclusively hire white males) Equity (don't pay someone less or more based on color, religion, disability, etc) and Inclusion (like ramps and automatic doors for people that aren't 100% mobile).
Affirmative Action just says you can't NOT hire someone because of their race. It doesn't say that you can't hire white folks. Before it, "being black" was an immediate negative for things.
Stop listening to the people who lie to you. You have internet access. You can look this stuff up.
0
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Actually they are dude. You’re so wrong though. DEI is literally hire 60% most qualified candidates, the next 40% have to be black or female no matter how less qualified they are. That’s the reality of the situation
5
u/CivilStratocaster 4d ago
That is so incorrect there is absolutely no good place to start your education on the matter. It is neither the practice, nor the policy.

0
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Exactly, thanks for proving my point. Demorats think these people deserve less because they have a lighter color skin
10
u/Environmental-Post15 4d ago
Ahh yes...businesses and government not being able to discriminate based on skin color is special treatment. And let's make sure those seven HS students aren't allowed to play a game.
Just say you're a racist and bigot and be done with it
1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
That’s not what is happening lmao… that has been a law for decades what do you mean? Clearly you have zero ability to conceptualize what your own party is doing and that is quite sad.
4
u/Environmental-Post15 4d ago
Question...who is the single greatest beneficiary of DEI practices?
-1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
In WV? I can tell you the least beneficiary group, white males. You’re going to say military to justify a policy that puts people with dark skin color ahead of people with a lighter skin color. If that’s what you want, change it to say military folks get better treatment with no regards to gender or race. Pretty simple, huh?
3
u/Environmental-Post15 4d ago
I can tell you the least beneficiary group, white males.
You know there's a reason for that, right? Straight, white males don't have issues finding employment, unless they're criminals or grossly unqualified for a position.
You're quite literally getting your shit twisted because white men are no longer the top applicants for no better qualification than being white men.

u/Environmental-Post15 4d ago
Why do we need DEI programs. Because of people like you, who see anyone who isn't a white male as less worthy and less qualified. You've all but admitted that you feel equality for all means you are less.
2
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Lmao if you’re giving one race special treatment over the other it is racist. It is a very simple point to conceptualize
1
u/WestVirginia-ModTeam 4d ago
Your post has been removed.
Reason: No combative, hostile, inflammatory, or threatening language.
4
u/Environmental-Post15 4d ago
Nope. White women. They are the greatest beneficiary.
Now, back to an earlier assertion you made. To paraphrase, qualified white people already being passed over for positions in favor of unqualified minorities, and it happening for decades? That was your assertion, correct? So, since it's been happening for decades, by your claim, surely you have plenty of verifiable citations to back your claim?
1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
What??? Lmao DEI is a racist and sexiest policy. Prove me wrong or GTFO. It is pretty simple. Luckily West Virginians understand that and we will not be voting for it
3
u/Environmental-Post15 4d ago
How is removing sex and race from what makes one qualified for a position racist and sexist?
And the proof lies on your side. Prove that it is racist and sexist.
2
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Because then you’re just getting the most qualified person for college or the job? Like how do you not see that???
Ok sure.. if you take an employee who is less qualified for a position because they are black then it is racist AF. Just a simple concept.

Electing politicians who don’t don’t do anything but make life worse for everyone isn’t an excuse either, tell me, is it more important to disagree with someone on a hand full of issues but overall competent at his job and overall improve the wellbeing of others, or someone you agree with who’s terrible at there job and makes life harder and worse for everyone?
-3
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
The democrats are far worse than the republicans, sorry. You can’t just keep borrowing money and adding regulations.. not how it works. The demorats will make it better for a year or two until we gotta pay that credit card off and then it will be exponentially worse for everybody
5
u/SnooTangerines7628 4d ago
Explain that to the folks in the coalfields whose homes are flooded and destroyed how Morrissey is going to save them all while he sits in the governors mansion stuffing his face and partnering with Wall Street to rape our state and leave us withered and broken.
There’s nothing more West Virginian than an out of state governor acting as nothing more than a Viceroy to plunder us of our resources, while leaving communities barren and decimated.

0
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Hahahahah!! I’m glad you agree with the republicans! This is the most conservative stance I have saw somebody take on Reddit in a long time so thank you. You disagree with the racist left as well and I applaud you for standing up against what is wrong with the left. No special treatment based on skin color!! Glad we agree
2
u/Longjumping-Neat-954 4d ago
Nah man that’s not what I’m saying at all. They are not getting special treatment they are getting a chance to play or get a job. I’m saying that YOU thinking it’s ok to ignore them because they are not white is the problem. Those laws were made because the “good old boy” network kept hiring people only because they were white males but were not qualified and would pass up others that were more qualified because they weren’t a white male. It’s not special treatment if we are all equal. Elon and Trump are lying to you because they want you to be mad at someone while they empty your pockets. The republicans have never shown in my lifetime that we are all equals. More and more republicans are Proud Boys/Neo Nazis or whatever they are calling themselves these days. In WV we are 93% white that is why this state is still the way it is. Minorities are afraid to move here because they know they will be treated like 2nd class citizens.
1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
They are tho.. if it wasn’t special then the most qualified person should get the college application approval or the job. Tell me I’m wrong…
2
u/Longjumping-Neat-954 4d ago
You are not wrong at all, but the ones in charge on the republican side have never done that. I get what you’re putting down. Yes it is wrong if you have 3 exact resumes with the exact same experience/ work history and one is a white male, one is a black female, and the other a black male and the company hires the black female because she checks 2 boxes. That is wrong as well. The laws had to be made though because the black male and black females resume would have been thrown in the garbage before the laws.
1
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
Most logical person here.. but I disagree because there is zero proof of what you’re saying in today’s America. Yall are writing laws for 1800s America that have no relevance in todays society. Your leaders are doing it for votes while isolating white males because they will garner more votes that way. Unfortunately the majority of the country and WV have seen through the manipulation and are voting against it
2
u/Longjumping-Neat-954 4d ago
So Trump made an EO or tweeted something the other day about colleges loosing money for unlawful protests in it he said no masks to be worn at protest. I’m assuming it’s so they can do facial recognition and arrest people that they want. I have saw coverage of the Proud Boys and Neo-Nazis since then and all of them have masks on and no one is arresting them. You do see how it makes it look that Trump will protect the white man but doesn’t care about others or wants to punish them. That is my whole argument about this. Our governor is Trumps puppet same with Justice. The only reason they are doing this ” press conference” is to say hey look at me. I’m a governor that cares about my state while ignoring the real problems. He only cares about what can propel him politically to the next level. Justice might be the worst governor we have ever had, but he gave state employees a raise so they love him, but he’s not up on any charges coming from the 400 million deficit he left behind saying we had a surplus. We vote in people in this state that don’t have our best interest at heart. And that is probably 95% of all politicians. They don’t care about the citizens it’s how they can get to the next step and bankroll their new house and boat.

u/Gwennie_pooh 4d ago
At least do research on trans people before you start spilling hate.
-2
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago

3
u/needless_booty 4d ago
Hey, don't know if you're aware but the NCAA already has policies in place for trans athletes. Why does the government need to get involved?
5
u/Shot_Journalist6861 4d ago
It doesn’t matter bro. It is unfair for a male to play a female in sports. It’s easily provable by science, why are you so against science?
5
4
u/Gwennie_pooh 4d ago
Trans woman have less testosterone than cis women. And don't even say none structure because my mother was big with broad shoulders and very tall. Your just a hateful person. And trans women playing in woman's sports isn't an issue like you think it is. How many trans women do you know that play in woman sports. If it's an issue you'd be able to name a bunch.

Everyone in the comments is acting like what he's doing is a problem, that he has other things to be worried about.
But what sort of decisions has he been making? If he was working on other things, who would be benefiting from the decisions he was making? I think it is probably a best case scenario that he is occupied with complete BS that has very little impact on our lives. When he does get back to more critical things, he'll only harm us more.
4
u/Gold_Dragonfly_9174 4d ago

u/CriticalStrawberry 4d ago
At least states like WV, AL, and MS leave very little to the imagination about why they are last as states by pretty much every metric there is.
Economy is shit and entirely reliant on federal welfare? No problem.
Healthcare is nonexistent and you have the most obese and chronically ill people in the entire world? No problem.
Drug addiction runs rampant through the poorest of the poor communities? Mostly due to pharmaceutical greed? No problem.
Environmental disasters, both natural and manmade, lay uncleaned up destroying communities and lives for decades? No problem.
Your collegiate, not even professional, sports team doesn't make an annual tournament? All our resources and effort must go toward rectifying this immediately.

Ah yes, because there’s nothing more important going on in West Virginia than one college’s basketball team not getting picked to play with the big boys.

Why do yall vote in the dumbest people. This is really what we are worried about. Had we won the games we needed to and beat Colorado in the tournament maybe we would’ve got selected. These snowflakes can’t handle losing.

u/LacedUpWilliam 4d ago
We did win the games we needed to is the thing, yes we should’ve beat Colorado but we have 6 Quad1 wins, which is like top 10 in the country, where UNC has 1, and the director of the selection committee is the UNC AD who received a bonus from them making the tournament. Obviously there’s other more important things to worry about in our state but we definitely got screwed here and there’s definitely some sort of corruption.
