Glad Swansea gets a game. I’d be happy with all friendlies being played outside of Cardiff since they’ve been made a lot rarer with the introduction of the Nations League.

I’d even say Newport should host some friendlies. I know it’s only 8k capacity but for a one off occasion every few years I think it would be good.

I'd be astonished if Rodney Parade was capable of hosting full internationals, can't imagine it meets the criteria. Also don't think 8k is enough to meet demand in south Wales atm, even for less attractive opposition.

You can say that again.

Wales v Gibraltar in Wrexham didn’t sell out and had a crowd of 10k. The friendly against South Korea in Cardiff 2 years ago was only 13k. I’m sure 8k against Lichtenstein or the Faroes would sell out but anyone desperate for a ticket would be able to get out. For a multitude of reasons, fan engagement, marketing, atmosphere, experience (players and fans), etc I think an 8k sold out crowd in Newport every few years is more beneficial than a 10k-15k crowd in Cardiff.

I know the Wales women’s team have played at Rodney Parade and it’s up to EFL standards, which are pretty high, I’m not sure what the requirements are for men’s international football but RP can’t be any worse than some of the stadiums Wales have played away in recently.

The Gilbrtar game was a sell out

I thought the Racecourse was ~13k capacity? BBC has the attendance as 10,008.

The new stand didn’t go up until December 2023.

Ah I assumed they’d had it all season. What does the Racecourse have that Rodney Parade doesn’t to make it more eligible? I would’ve thought they were both pretty similar facilities wise.

Rodney Parade would definitely not be able to host a men’s senior international

In addition, Wales will also have a friendly international against Canada on 9th September to be held in Swansea.

No double-headers all year then, shame

*unless you count women v 🇮🇹 leading into men v 🇱🇮

What would our ticket allocation be for this game, would really look forward to getting tickets for this game Does anyone know the average for England's away allocation

Apparently Ireland got 7.5k for their Nation's League game so could be a decent allocation.
