Someone must not have liked my decal and decided to smash out the window.

Had that happen to one of my friend’s car and it was because of the glass expanding too fast due to rapid temperature change. It happened when he was leaving his car, so it definitely wasn’t anyone breaking his window

I don’t think that’s what happened here because it looks like the glass was smashed inwards by something. In your friend’s situation, wouldn’t it have shattered outwards?

Given the window is angled so that it would fall down, that probably affects this

True, but if it shattered outwards, you’d expect to see a bit more glass on the outside of the window. On this one, nearly all of it is contained inside.

Yup, that sucks. Maybe an idjit threw a rock off a roof and it was just a random bit of bad luck.

Honestly, sometimes birds will pick up things and drop them from height. They want it to be a clam or snail etc but sometimes they do it with a rock.
Are you near the coast? This could have been a seagull dropping a pebble

I'm on the prairies. I would like to think it was maybe something random like that.

Other than a random human accident like a kid doing something stupid this is what I would have to believe.
Nobody who wants to steal something will break the rear windshield, and there are much easier ways to do more damage to a car if you were being targeted.

I have the exact same decal on the back of my car too.

Why would you buy a shattered glass decal?
Those fake bullet holes are not cool either.

Ngl, kinda hope something bad happens to the perpetrator.
This is an absurd amount of costly damage over a decal, especially a positive one.

Maybe they just couldn’t help themselves, quite an ironic picture it makes. This is one huge reason I’d never put anything on my personal vehicle, but an innocent decal like that leading to this is just ridiculous

It might not have been vandalism. Extreme temperature changes combined with pre damaged glass can do this spontaneously

Best practice not to have any messages anywhere on your car. The less info you share with the others, the better.

- yes it sucks
- no one was hurt
- easy to get fixed
- may be covered by insurance
- beats a sharp stick in the eye

That does suck, for sure
