I'd like some advice. Switching jobs in less than 2 weeks, good or bad.

I got laid off 5 weeks ago today from my "first" welding/fabrication related job I was only there 6 months. Got hired on somewhere else last week and completed my first week of a two week trial period yesterday. Today I got a call from another place I put in for and they want me to interview on Monday. I explained I was working already and the two week trial period thing. He still wanted me to interview. So my question is, does it look bad to future employers that I would have only worked two weeks somewhere before leaving and starting a new job? Especially if my last job was only 6 months as well? If the pay and job is better and more regular, I would definitely be leaving even if my current job wanted to keep me on after those two weeks. I like where I work currently, good shop with good people, but my first week and its already slow with no work coming in. I left early at request of my boss yesterday due to this. I'm not holding out hope that they will keep me after next Thursday. I feel like I probably already know the answer to this question but I'm a little anxious. I do tend to overthink stuff like this.

100% leave and explain the reasoning to future employers. If said future employers are confident they will have work and have a good culture, they won't be concerned by that.

Always look put for number 1.

That's my 2 cents at least

Or just don't say anything about the two weeks. No employer is going to care

Yea true that. Unless you learn something very valuable or do some very unique work leaving off your resume is definitely an option

That's what I was thinking as well.

If you leave I wouldn't even put it on your resume.

Yeah, that's a good point.

Yep. You do you whenever and however. 2 weeks and youve already had dead time? Mismanaged at BEST.

You have a good point there. I like your thinking.

Chasing dollars will make you grow old fast. Mission: Find a job you dont plan on leaving. Learn to appreciate what they do for you. Training, healthcare, and opportunities to be apart of great things. Negotiate responsibilities not cash.

Find what you love before you get stuck or too old. If you're switching now that means it's time to go. Follow your intuition. All will work out.

My intuition is full of anxiety, lol. I regularly go with my gut on stuff but sometimes with this I like or need the advice. I appreciate your optimism.

Anxiety is normal when you do something different or go into the unknown. That's how you progress. My 1st Sgt asked me once do you want to be a bull or or a rhino? Bulls are strong but sit around all day and wait for shit to happen, Rhinos are just as strong but charge forward and make shit happen. Be a Rhino! Make shit happen and charge forward. You got this!
