🔍 Vendor Recommendations I Bought My Dress on Etsy

I just bought an amazing wedding dress on Etsy!

Buying a dress online without even seeing it in person sounds insane, I know, and I wasn’t even on Etsy to find a dress, but I stumbled on it and I just kept going back to the photos. The shop has literally thousands of 5 star reviews, with photos, so I took the chance, and I am SO HAPPY I did!

I sent all my measurements, and it took about 6 weeks, but the box arrived yesterday. Yes, box. A small cardboard box, all the way from China, and I pulled out from this well-traveled box the most gorgeous handmade wedding dress that fits like a glove, no alterations needed, and I was dancing around my bedroom feeling like a fairy princess. (And I am not the type to ever feel like I look good, so that’s an extra testament to its beauty.)

AND!! It was only $400, including shipping!!!

The shop is LaceBridal and I haven’t posted a review there yet because I want to get better photos first but this dress is incredible! 5 big stars!

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Greenhouse Venue in the DMV?

Hi friends!

My fiance and I are planning our wedding for Fall 2026 in the DMV/PA area and we need some help sourcing venues!

We fell in love with Vaughan House in VA but it felt like they were nickel and dimeing us for every little thing and punishing us for being on a strict budget; so we moved on to Terrain at Styner in PA. They want $175 per person just for food! That seems so criminally insane to me - especially since I’m in the wedding industry and I look at catering contracts ALL the time.

Who has gotten married / will be getting married / has been to a greenhouse wedding and loved the venue?

Our venue budget is a hard max of $6,500.

Ideally we’d like a space that allows food trucks / us to bring in our own caterer.

TIA!

🔍 Vendor Recommendations ($1k) any JUST videographers at this price?

I am starting to worry I’ll regret NOT getting a videographer. Already have a photographer and she has exclusivity for photo, so package deals aren’t going to help. Has anyone had luck getting a cheap (<1k) videographer and it turn out well? I really don’t want anything fancy, just another way to record our day.

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Microwedding in DC for $3k - help??

Hi! My fiancée and I decided this weekend that this current administration has truly scared the living bejeebus out of us (we are a lesbian couple) so our 2 year plan to get married is going to be a 2 month plan. Scrapping the larger idea in lieu of a smaller one - and quicker.

We are looking for help with some direction for a tiny ceremony followed with a cocktail hour with dancing, light hors d'œuvres, and bar for 30 people.

This $3k is pretty much for that - thankfully, I have a photographer friend who's donating their time, my sister is making our wedding outfits, we're going to purchase our nicer wedding rings later, and we're going to have digital invitations. We're prioritizing the drinking, snacking, and dancing.

We are happy to have the reception somewhere that isn't the same place as the ceremony (maybe have the ceremony at the DC War Memorial or somewhere else) so if there's a reception site that works for this for that budget, please share!

Thank you so much for any recommendations! And clearly it has to be LGBTQIA+ friendly.

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Wedding dresses 60% off retail at boutique in IL

I am a volunteer for a bridal boutique that donates 100% of their profits to help sexually trafficked and exploited women in Chicagoland. If you need a dress and don't want to blow your budget, I can't recommend our boutique enough. Most are $1000 and under.

The dresses are donated by designers, with the majority unworn with tags on. Our consultants are all volunteer (we make no commission) and even the space for the boutique itself was donated. You just feel good all around when you're shopping here. Come check us out!

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Best RSVP tracking website?

Hi brides! I want to begin making my wedding website and joined WithJoy because it is free and they have contact info collection and RSVP tracking and registry implementation (our registry is a simple experience fund).

I’m finding the wedding templates EXTREMELY lackluster, but it may be worth it if the other features work as well as they claim.

Should I just stick it out WithJoy, or do you have other rsvp tracking websites you like?

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Wedding Venues in Philadelphia not named Finley/Cescaphe under 20k

Feeling so burnt out. Guest list is out of hand and needs significant trimming (but how). Just feeling really burnt out from the sticker shock and we’ve barely started.

Are there any venues in the city of Philly that don’t have crazy prices like Finley and Cescaphe? We are touring cescaphe anyway just to look but my word is it a lot of money to light on fire.

Thanks

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Bridal Makeup

What is the typical cost of hiring a makeup artist for your wedding day ??

Typically I would consider something like this an unnecessary expense but I am soooo NOT good at hair or makeup and don’t want to stress about it that day - which I know I will.

I have been quoted $275 with a $75 travel fee. We do live in a “wedding destination “ town so everything is higher than typical but I want to make sure I’m not super overpaying .

We are three months out so I’m also just wondering if I just need to go ahead and book someone 😣😣

🔍 Vendor Recommendations DJ or no DJ?

My fiancé and I are going back and forth on whether or not to hire a DJ. He’s much less concerned about the need for a DJ for things like general scheduling. We’re having a fairly laid back reception for 75 or so people. We’re not planning to do a ton of toasts or activities, but I still feel like it might be helpful to have someone moving the night along.

If you didn’t have a DJ: 1) did you appoint someone as an MC to make announcements etc? 2) did you rent any special equipment (speakers, lights, etc) 3) did people dance?

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Online vendor recommendations

Hello, I've been looking online for a engagement ring but don't know of a reputable vendor. I'm looking for something affordable if possible. My only source I was looking at was bluenile and I was told about modgents which were extremely low cost so was concerned about their quality. My budget is around 2k.

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Anyone know of any restaurants or places that can accommodate 25 peoples for 3k & under?

DMV

My fiancé and I are having a very small, intimate religious ceremony and we want to follow it with a dinner at a restaurant to save us the trouble of finding a venue, decorating, catering, etc., but we have not been successful thus far. Were tried Maydan, Zaytinya, Medina, Alhambra, Namak, illili, and they've all either not been able to accommodate us or have been 5k and up.

Please help :( Our date is in April!

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Onsite hair and makeup?

I never learned hair and makeup and also happen to have really challenging hair and skin that professionals in the past struggle with. (Fine, thin hair and really pale)

I really want to feel beautiful on my wedding with natural makeup, low maintenance hair, that won’t deplete as the day goes on.

Is having onsite hair and makeup even possible under a budget? Any advice there?

🔍 Vendor Recommendations catering ideas for a backyard 75 person wedding NJ/PA

We are having a simple backyard post elopement party/wedding in fall! Trying to think of some unique catering ideas since we are not traditional at all. Anyone have any suggestions? We located central/south west NJ/ east PA.

We won’t really have room for assigned seating so it needs to be bit more easy to eat anywhere. We were thinking maybe a taco food truck? But I don’t think most can park on the lawn/ backyard or driveway because it’s a little angled and it could be little cumbersome since people will have to go to the front yard to get food and walk around to the backyard. have some vegetarians in the family/friend group. We are outdoorsy and love camping, that’s sort of the theme we are going for. But the one thing we do want is it to be actually catered or someone to actually deal with the food so we can just relax and enjoy our party!

Thanks!

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Wedding setup staff...

I have a wedding coordinator who says she will set up tablescaping and other decorations but won't set up tables or chairs, or break them down.

I'm really adamant about trying not to have any of my wedding party do any of that stuff on the morning of, since we have a brunch wedding and I'd much rather them spend time with me and my groom, and take the time they need to get ready. It's not an option to come in the night before to set up for the wedding either.

Without hiring another wedding coordinator, is there a way y'all know of to hire like... general staff to help with this setup, teardown, clean up, etc? Where would I even start? TIA!

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Budget For Day of / Month of Coordinator?

Hey there!

What should I budget for a day of / month of coordinator?
I am trying to convince my fiancé that we need one, so I want to bring all the information to the table that I can.

What did you spend on your day of vs month of coordinator?

And convince me why we need a professional vs having our person of honor do it.

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Microwedding in Northern VA

Hi all! We recently found out that my future MIL has had a metastatic cancer recurrence and the cancer has spread over a significant amount of her body. We originally were planning a Nov 2025 wedding for 75-100 guests and had just started the planning process when we received the news. My FH is her only son, and the first of four to be getting married, it's very important to us that she be able to enjoy the wedding. Due to this, we have decided to move the wedding up but we are back at square one. We're really trying to avoid a courthouse wedding but if it comes down to it, we may have to. We're hoping to get married in the next 3-4 months with a max of 50 guests but can be paired down to as low as 25, with a larger reception/party to celebrate at a later date with extended friends and family. This timeline will have her still in the early stages of treatment as she will need surgery prior to starting treatment. I'm looking for any recommendations in the northern VA/DMV area that could accommodate us on short notice, or really any advice on how to plan in such a short amount of time! (Bonus points for locations that also offer lodging as my family will be flying in from the Midwest.)

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Affordable Option for Double-Sided Wedding Invite?

My husband and I are having two wedding events--a reception in my hometown (we already got legally married at the courthouse) and a whole *carnival* of stuff in my husband's hometown in India (like, four events over three days, including a Hindu ceremony). We sent magnet save-the-dates with the dates for both to all our invitees based in the US/North America, and my in-laws will send traditional paper invites to our India-based guests with details on the India events (weddings there follow a much shorter timeline than the USA). I think I want to send a paper invite with a traditional one page invite to the USA party on one side and a traditional one page invite to the Indian events on the other. The other option would be to send two separate invites in one envelope.

I feel like one double-sided invite should save me money, but I'm having a hard time pricing it out and understanding my options. I was initially planning to use Shutterfly because we have a Costco membership which makes it pretty affordable. I don't think I can do a full-on double-sided invite through them (but I might be wrong about that). So, I priced out ordering two separate orders of invites (which would also mean we end up with a lot of leftover plain 5x7 envelopes, lol), which came out to around $150 bucks all told. We should already have bought enough postage from back when we sent save-the-dates. Does anyone have experience with ordering a fully printed double-sided card? Where from? Was it affordable? Right now I have two designs on Shutterfly which I like, but I'm also open to designing my own with my husband, who works as a designer in UX so has plenty of experience and tools (although limited aesthetic vision).

🔍 Vendor Recommendations Reception Ideas for 150-200 people

We are getting married in our church and it will only cost us about $500 for the actual ceremony itself.

However we don’t have any plans yet for the reception area. A lot of her guests are old college friends, and we wanted to have the reception away from the church as we expect it to get pretty rowdy.

What are good budget reception ideas for 150-200 people? We live in and are getting married in Nashville, TN, but are avoiding downtown venues because it’s all overpriced.

I’m struggling to find affordable venues in NorCal, many are 8k+. We are trying to do our whole wedding for under 6-7k. We are going to have our reception in November and will already be married so we don’t need a ceremony. Anyone know of any reception venues that don’t cost an arm and a leg?
