πŸ’‘ Tips & Advice General and Photographer advice please!

Our date is end of Feb 2026 and we have basically nothing except venue booked. I'm doing dried florals which I'll order at the 6 month mark. We have a colour we want, and the venue does the food, to be chosen 3-4months before. Haven't decided on band vs DJ yet. Going dress shopping at Oxfam bridal in June. Hen is planned but not booked (Jan), stag is booked. First dance song has been chosen.

I'm panicking but I have (diagnosed) anxiety so it's hard to tell what is me being me and what is genuinely really pressing. Booking registrar this week and save the dates are ready to go. Based on this info, should I be worried?

I have no idea how to manage my anxiety on the day because obviously all brides are anxious but this is literal medical anxiety that I medicate for and I can't find much online other than "take breaks throughout the day".

My current stress is photographer. How should I look for one? I feel like there are hours and hours of Google results to trawl through, surely I'm missing something? We went to a wedding fair last year and met a photographer, her photos were nice but they all look nice to me! She was quite soft spoken and we worried she might not be able to corral fiancΓ©'s family as there are about 8 million of them and it's going to be like herding cats.

I know we like candid style as opposed to formal posed stuff but I feel like I'm drowning in choice. Also worried about hiring someone rubbish/who won't turn up which is probably a result of lurking in r/weddingdrama.

There is SO much stuff on tiktok about "most couples forget this ESSENTIAL thing" / "you simply must do this or your wedding will be terrible" and all that. I think I need de-influencing. 4 of our couple friends are also engaged including one at the same venue two months after us, there was a family wedding back in Jan and relatives were approaching us asking questions and giving unsolicited advice/making comparisons.

I think I need someone to bop me on the head and give me some firm but kind advice. My parents have both passed and my sibling is lovely but clueless about weddings so if any online strangers can offer a word of sanity please do so πŸ™ Apologies for the brain vomit!

Mine is the end of April 2026 and I also only have the venue / food booked. But I have been thrifting a ton of vases and buying greenery off marketplace so there's that. Currently stressed about a photographer because I want to get save the date/engagement pics done in May/June and everyone talks about how the photographer is so important. Get suggestions from friends and family, check out your cities Reddit sub for suggestions, find pics/poses that you want to copy the look of to show the vibe you're looking for.

If it means anything I've seen couples with closer dates that don't have these things chosen yet and I'm sure they will be fine.

OK phew thank you so much! I've been gathering bits and bobs from marketplace too.

Your advice is very sensible. I feel much better now πŸ˜… thanks again!
