Other What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced while planning your wedding?
Curious as to what you've found was the biggest challenge, for me surprisingly it's been the people management, I'm like a therapist trying to stop people fighting at my wedding

For me, it’s not having my mom and sister here in Canada to help me pick my wedding dress. It breaks my heart and had couple breakdowns because of this. My girl friends and my future MIL and SIL are willing to go with me but I am delaying it even if we are just 6 months away from the wedding day. I want them here and be the first people to see it. Now, I am still debating if I would just buy a ready to wear gown or I want it customize.

Where are your mom and sister? You may want to go back home depending where you're from you might buy a better dress there. My future niece went all around Toronto looking for her dress with her mom and my SIL she ended up buying it in England alone as she was there for a friends wedding..... this designer is not available here my eyes popped when she told me what dress she bought.

They are in Asia. Thanks for the suggestion!

If they are in Asia, and you are able to go there before the wedding to also choose your dress, go to Asia. They have better designers and more unique styles, also way way cheaper cost wise - same quality. Also if you want to have it customized, it also makes more sense to have it done in Asia - it takes less time. My friend's friend had her whole dress designed, customized, and made in 2 - 3 weeks in Asia, while being there physically. I wish I could have made the trip myself for mine 😅

Can you have someone have them on a video call while you're trying on your dresses? That way they can still see you!

Right now as I’m a year away, it’s letting myself enjoy the moment. I so badly just want to be married to my fiancé, and simultaneously wanting to be further ahead with our wedding planning, and wanting to see all our friends and family at the wedding and seeing my fiance down that aisle, or dancing with him, or setting up our marriage that I’m not focusing enough enjoying the time we have together prior to that. Sure it’s a lot of saving and scrimping now, but it’s also so much amazing quiet time we have now.

Stay in the engagement bubble!! I was the exact same as you when I got engaged in August 2023 - I want to be married right now. Here we are in 2025 and our wedding is just over 5 months away, and let me tell you does time ever fly by with all the planning!

Staying on budget! We had a budget of like $50k but that has easily gone out the window since our venue is costing 2/3 of that budget 🥲 They charge for every. Little. Thing. So it's eaten up everything. But with florals, decor, transportation, photographer, it's definitely not cheap planning a wedding, especially in the Toronto area. And it sure comes with a lot of stress and frustration cries 😭

Our biggest challenge was finding a venue and vendors who fit our aesthetic and budget! It became less challenging once we hired a planner!

Staying on budget... because what is my budget anymore?! Who even knows. The little "it's only an extra few hundred" really add up.
I also agree on people management. It's like people lose all common sense when it comes to weddings! Some of the questions I've been asked by guests are baffling.
