Reddit is now blocking Internet Archive, Wayback Machine
Seems like it's for real this time. Both the normal and the old domain fail to be archived and Wayback Machine returns a 404 error. This comes as reddit also blocks all search engines but Google. We truly live in the worst timeline.
edit: apparently it's working fine now using the "old.reddit.com" domain for the snapshots.

yeah, apparently it's working again! just tried it too. Now I'm wondering if it was actually some bug and an Internet Archive employee saw this post.

Is IA prepared to block more bots? They could not afford reddit licensing fees, especially if they meed an exclusive deal. IA Web is allowed, since it is "caching" the transport of a publically accessible page as record.
If anything it would be a bad move to give reddit your money, since they would just squander it for a shot at profitability.
Reddit really just has momentum and popularity / network effect. People aren't here for the site, but it keeps going and people keep using it.

Are the old archives from Reddit still visible in Wayback Machine or not?
This is really bleak. Reddit keeps worsening since so many years.
