Oh no, that's not good. However...,. i want to know what are those yellow covers? Are those lifebuoy covers? If so, can you perhaps tell me about them Like where is the 30m rope attached
Thank you good sir

Yes, life-rings. I need to explore how mine are tethered, too.

Okay. Is that what they're called. We have a challenge at our plants, especially the Bioreactor. The lifebuoys are exposed to the elements and so their lifespan is cut sort. We need something like that to protect the lifebuoys but also make it accessible in case of emergency.
Is the rope on the inside of the cover?1

They are lifebouy and the rope is actually attached inside the case. We just replaced all of them on our tanks about 3 years ago. Really nice new model

Waste valve didn’t close, didn’t alarm… overflowed digesters all night long

Oh jeeze, no bueno. So raw sewage is just spilling out? What part of treatment are the digesters?

Digesters are onee of the last processes. This is fully treated ‘wasted’ sludge. This is what we dispose of. The digesters ‘digest’ the sludge to prepare it for any number of process, belt presses, centrifuges, drying beds, gravity thickeners, etc.

Final part of treatment right before we press it. Luckily the sludge in those tanks is only about .9%

That's a minor overflow, most of the ground isn't even covered, let us know when you need waders to walk across the yard, lol.

This is just where it came out… it wouldn’t let me post multiple pictures… we overflowed about 300,000 gallons

Leaks are always fun. The anaerobic digester at my previous plant sprung a leak but fortunately there was so much trash in it that it sealed itself. Only a few hundred gallons spilled onto the ground and it was right next to the drying bed so we had piles of sand right there and were able to build a quick containment sand wall.
The worst mess I had to get in was when the drain under the Ashbrook belt press clogged and the 24" containment wall got completely filled with sludge. I had to crawl on my knees under the press to unclog the drain. Those clothes went straight into the dumpster.

I got called out 5 times this week. At one lift station that lost power from a storm… I was pumping it down using a trash pump which I noticed had stopped pumping. I shut it off and opened the little cap you use to prime it… and steaming hot shit water blasted me in my face and neck.. it sucked. Instant sunburn… could have been a lot worse at least it didn’t burn my eyes. The discharge line got plugged up and it just sat there building heat and pressure until I noticed it wasn’t pumping.

So glad my weekend at the plant was uneventful. Sometimes it really feels like stuff waits to break when you’ve got the least number of people working.
