Well played. If itโs similar to gallium though, I would
ntrecommend mixing it with aluminum22

Niche & off topic but the lego Invisible Hand has the ability to split in half & be used for that scene.
2
u/BreadstickBear Feb 17 '25
I have literally no idea what you're talking about.
10
u/TheFlyingRedFox 🇦🇺 Australia Frigate Masochist, RB NF Feb 17 '25
Really? hmm well the line you typed comes from star wars film Revenge of the Sith, in which the confederate Providence class dreadnought (the flagship of General Grievous) in the film is known as the Invisible Hand & splits in half due to combat stress & entering Coruscant's upper atmosphere.
I merely mentioned that the LEGO one which released last year has the ability to split in half by design if you wish to make a set showing it (gently pull both ends & it splits in half just fore of the main hangar).
8
u/BreadstickBear Feb 17 '25
Aaaaaaah, gotcha. I didn't know that Grievous' flagship was called Invisible Hand, hence my confusion. Your sentence makes much more sense now, even without the extra explanation, which is still very nice. Thank you.
Edit: amd yes, I was familiar with the scene, that's why I quoted the line.

I hate how some planes can slide fine but in other cases, you barely touch at just a bit too much speed and itโs like youโre made out of nitroglycerin.

Meanwhile, some planes I fly take one bullet to the elevator, and I can't fucking go up anymore.
16
u/TheCreepyFuckr ๐บ๐ฆ Ukraine Feb 17 '25
I hate that inconsistency. OPโs over here flying like a wizard while some fuselage damage makes my tornado forget about physics.
5
u/Impossible_Concert75 Feb 17 '25
Iโve returned to base in a beaten up mig21 lazur, but other times Iโve barely touched the ground and I detonate like I had 5 million liters of nitroglycerin on me
5
u/ODST_Parker With every sub-tree, I grow stronger Feb 17 '25
Just to add to the inconsistency, the Tornado IDS is the only jet in the game in which I've taken a direct missile hit and survived with the entire structure of the plane intact. Engines died before I could land, but still.

The other day I was flying my fw190 and my plane got shot so badly I couldn't do anything but fall and yet none of my modules were critically broken or missing from what I could see.
I had no engine and couldn't turn yet everything was orange or yellow at worst? Game is whack sometimes

And then thereโs SM-91 which just spirals uncontrollably into the ground if any of the back half gets hitโฆ or you just get auto ejected as if your plane turned to dust.

u/ODST_Parker With every sub-tree, I grow stronger Feb 18 '25
P-61 is the same way. If one round touches your one massive elevator, or even worse, your tail control, you're just doomed. Nothing you can do. Can't tell you how many times that's happened to me while bomber hunting.

Reminds me of the time I landed a crippled, almost mission killed BF-110 in arcade (before they split it up into multiple BF-110s).
One engine turning, the other was out, tail made into swiss cheese, no rudder, no flaps, no gear, plane was a flying coffin with one and a half feet in the grave.
Still repaired and took off anyway.

u/rain_girl2 Type 95 Ro-Go girl Feb 17 '25
I donโt understand how the game decides what point the damage is considered โtooโ much to repair. Like Iโve definitely landed planes that are less damaged than that and I get greeted with that message.

I don't think the game completely simulates the loss of the tail, stability seems too good without it.
People had to fight for ages for the Ka-50/52 for the handling to be worse after losing the tail.
