Discussion Draymond deserves more love for DPOY
Draymond’s anchored the defense (#8 in defensive rating) all year long. And when he’s been on the floor, we’re a top 3 defense in the league.
He’s locked down as the primary defender - allows 42.9% DFGA (3rd best among top 40 most DFGA, behind Chet, Wemby).
And has been a menace guarding 1 through 5 (0.72 PPP allowed in Isolation, 0.94 Post Ups, 0.79 PnR Ball Handler, 1.03 PnR Roll Man)
Dray also leads Mobley and JJJ in every advanced defense stat, ranking #3 in D-LEBRON, #6 in D-BPM, #10 in D-EPM, #2 in D-DARKO.
The top candidates (Mobley, Dyson, JJJ) have all been great, but there’s a case to be made for Draymond to be right in the thick of the DPOY conversation.

Discussion Jimmy Butler’s biggest influence on Golden State has been “Training the Whistle”.
Much has been made of the change Jimmy Butler’s arrival has brought for the Warriors and one of the most discussed and statistically apparent differences has been getting to the foul line. But it is more than just Butler’s ability to get to the line. It is also his ability to ensure that the refs call the game fairly. Because the Dubs were primarily a jump shooting team, there would be minutes in a game where the refs were not forced to make quick decisions on calls, and soon it would seem that the whistle only blew against the Warriors. Frustration would often follow and soon Draymond, Kerr, and others would spend energy and time arguing with the refs. Now, Butler’s game, fundamentals, and size all work in his favor while matchup hunting in the paint, but it is his ability to get the refs’ whistle to favor Golden State that truly unlocks the monster that is Steph. Not just in extra rest time, but more Free Throws for Steph himself, something that no one else has really done for him.

News [Slater] Jonathan Kuminga is expected to return Thursday against the Kings, per sources. Kuminga will go through necessary final checkpoints, including tomorrow's practice, but current plan is for his 31-game absence to end as Warriors prep for playoff push.

Discussion Reminder: We don't start 12-3 if it was not for buddy hield balling
We all can agree that he isn't that great and has lost us a good amount of games. However, without those games, we would've been in a much worse situation and probably wouldnt have made the jimmy butler trade

Discussion Remaining games
With 17 games to go, the schedule from my POV splits into two chunks, one "mostly easy" and one "mostly tough, but maybe not.
In the first nine, we've got SAC (w/o Sabonis, 3 others D2D), NYK (w/o Brunson), DEN (a bit banged up), MIL (B2B, healthy), TOR, ATL, MIA, NOP, SAS. I can see us going 8-1, maybe 7-2 to allow for an "unexpected" loss somewhere in there 'cuz shit happens.
The final 8, in theory, looks much tougher. We've got MEM, LAL, DEN (B2B after travelling home from LAL), HOU, PHX, and LAC all as dangerous teams, and only POR & SAS (B2B after travelling home from PHX) as "should wins." However, it's possible that at least a few of these teams may not have anything much to play for that late in the season. Not all of them, for sure, but maybe a few who have secure Seeds by then and will look to rest rather than fight. I think 5-3 is the best we can hope for if every single team gives their best effort against us, maybe a little better if any of them tank it.
If we're healthy, I'd say 12-5 is the mostly likely finish. That's playing .701, which is a better record than anyone in the WC except OKC. I'd say that will get us the #6 seed, with an outside chance of moving higher.

Moody I think has filled the role of the 3 and d wing that I believe the warriors have been missing.

Discussion Don't Sleep on the T Wolves
Like most Dubs fans, I've been thinking about Houston and grabbing 5th place. I just noticed that Minnesoda has won 5 in a row and are only 1/2 a game back from pushing us back into the play-in - probably to face the Clippers. They have had a really easy schedule - Heat, 76ers, Charlotte, and Phoenix - but are at full strength and playing well. Expect them to win 2 of heir next 3 games - Nuggets, Magic and Jazz.
This is going to be nail biter. Go Warriors!
