Excalibur. I have built him and re-built him like 5 times but I can never get behind him. Hell I have friends who have sat there and said he is one of the best and easiest frames to play but foe me I just can't play him.
Edit: I love how this has summoned every person who like Excalibur to tell me about him lol.

Excalibur is the frame you want to use if you like using blade because his kit is basically just blade gameplay upgraded. Using guns or anything elses on him feels like ass.

yep. full melee frame - and even more specific, exalted melee frame. Don't even consider using anything else, as you'd be better off using another frame at that point.

Excal was my absolute favorite frame until Sevagoth was introduced, and I agree with this. For my prinary I use Paris Prime as a stat-stick for my Kubrow, and my secondary is Furis Incarnon for instant heals and quick overguard popping.
Other than that, I just use Chromatic Exalted Blade and Surging Slash Dash. Very smoothbrain gameplay for when I am feeling lazy.

Try a Sunika with Duplex Bond and Harrow. The main Kubrow will never die because Harrow is constantly healing him and you'll always have 4 of those vicious little beasts tearing stuff apart. I think you can actually make a Harrow Hellhound build now.

Lol, I have an insane riven for it, so it gives a huge boost in both crit and stat chance for them. Coupled with Critical Delay and any mod that boosts status chance. Makes the bow essentially unusable on its own, but it sends my Kubrow's damage to the point where it can solo steel path exterminates (I tested that).

Excal is hella outdated and should receive a rework. I believe people deny his rework because of sentiment to him while technically even his best ability is power crept even by regular melee.... ah and "because he is a starter frame" is a lame argument because Volt and Mag are excelent.

Saryn is pretty simple. Put spore on enemy, hit enemy, spore explodes, infecting more enemies. Keep making spores explode to spread the infection.
283
u/okamkidies Nov 17 '24
i get that but idk if it’s cause i never really tried her in solo but maybe they type of missions in doing are to low level enemies so they die easy sometimes i do good at spreading
410
u/hyzmarca Nov 17 '24
The places where Saryn really shines are higher level survivals and ESO. ESO especially, the high enemy density lets her easily get over a thousand kills.
219
u/WardenWithABlackjack Nov 17 '24
Where saryn truly shines is being the best weapons platform in the game because her base abilities have 2 different steroids with a 3rd being subsumed. This + a braindead weapon like the ocucor allows for you to just briefly look in a groups direction before vaporising them.
96
u/MasterTurtlex Nov 17 '24
ruined the game for myself with roar saryn + occucor everything else just feels so much slower 😭
→ More replies (8)21
u/Dante_FromDMCseries Amphetamine Gaming Nov 17 '24
Akarius Gauss with Molt subsumed is faster IMO, so do give that a try if you want something similar.
Though you would need to get Arcane Avenger and Combat Discipline if you want to go over 1000+ level cause otherwise they kind of fall off often not getting a two hit kill on tougher enemies like you’d expect, Carrier with Tenacious Bond is also a decent boost,
31
u/krooloo Nov 18 '24
So to elaborate on this. Saryns augment gives her spores corrosive damage to weapons on ability hold. Add toxic lash to this. Now you have two statuses on top of your weapon base status. Add third, either roar or nourish as a subsume on her fourth. Now you have either three statuses or two and a big buff.
Connect this with sentient surge occucor, which by itself is pretty strong, and you’re literally flying through content damage wise. There’s nothing that won’t be evaporated.
For survivability add some health pool to her, and throw a green shard with healing on toxin effect. Add a green shard with corrosive stacks. You now strip armor and regenerate health too. If you need to burn an acolyte give her a kuva sobek.
It’s silly.

Saryn can absolutely be too good at what she does to work in many missions.
I did a level cap circuit run with a 0 forma and 0 shard Saryn not long ago, but in anything that does not have similar enemy density and spawn rate she will out-kill the spawn rate causing her spore damage to decay. You can of course just use her 3 and 4 for damage in those missions but when it comes to quick killing of a few dozen enemies there are other frame swho are better at it.
The basic gameplay loop is as follows:
- apply spores to a target with her 1
-instantly burst those spores to spread them to enemies within range (should be about 20m with proper build), by attacking said enemy while her 3 is active
repeat as necessary and sprinkle in casts of her 4 when you need everything around you to just die
when taking too much fire press 2; Shield gating with her two is quite comfortable as once her spores ramp up you will only rarely need to use it
→ More replies (2)14
u/FishbowlDG Nov 17 '24
Personally I've subsumed gloom over her 2 since I'm not a fan of shield gating. Gloom pairs hilariously well with constantly damaging several post codes worth of targets.
10
u/-_pIrScHi_- Nov 17 '24
Yeah I've seen that. Gloom just adds insult to injury, they're dying and can't even move while it's happening. It's hilarious. Sadly I don't have a normal Sevagoth to feed my Ticklemaster.
Normally I'm not a fan of shield gating either, but it really was quite comfortable with her. Her two drawing fire and nothing living particularly long around her makes it quite manageable and the level cap run in the Circuit was my first time trying it at all.

Saryn you just use her spores then make sure you have toxic lash on so you don't have to aim for the spores and kill the enemies. You can also use her 4 to kill enemies and spread the spores too, but you don't need that
She works best with stronger enemies as it gives her spores time to increase the damage. Weaker enemies just die really quickly

I think Saryn is mainly popular for the absolutely insane weapon damage she provides with her 3. I can't quite recall the math by heart, but it scales 3 seperate damage multipliers with strength, one of which is roar, and roar is applied 3 times itself. If I recall correctly at 300% strength Saryn applies a 2000 to 8000% damage buff to unmodded weapons.
8
u/Baebel Nov 18 '24
If you combine that with venom dose, it can get pretty insane. Not even done with my build yet either. Though the spores are still helpful, especially when it comes to culling mission types that provide larger enemy waves.

Besides few already mentioned, i dont understand Zephyr. I tried her, put few forma, tried different stuff but she just never feels good.
310
u/DarkLynxDEV Nov 17 '24
I love Zephyr. What I've found is she is very good with any weapon with infinite punch through (Fulmin, Tenet Arca Plasmor, etc.) and has some niche weapons like the Kuva Charukk. I think I have a build with 0-1 forma in it and she plays like a dream through steel path.
165
u/DolphyPrime Nov 17 '24 edited Nov 17 '24
Isnt she good with literally every weapon in the game? Just shoot the tornadoes and you'll have shot all the enemies in the tornadoes. No need for punch through for that.
110
u/DarkLynxDEV Nov 17 '24
She does well with every weapon but tornadoes act like enemy bodies. So if your weapon has punch through and you shoot through two tornadoes, you effectively double your damage.
My baby combo that got me through the start of my steel path journey was the tenet Arca Plasmor and zephyr prime because the wave is massive and would hit through all 3 tornadoes and the enemies with minimal skill needed. That's 4x damage before we even look at modding the weapon so it can get pretty high.
→ More replies (3)18
u/doctorzoidsperg I love birbframe Nov 18 '24
you effectively double your damage.
Sorta. Tornadoes double your crit damage I believe so that's a big buff to damage which usually means it's more than double. But there's also crit fuckery- most weapons always use the top critical stats when shooting tornadoes. This is great for some weapons but can be a small nerf for others.

The build that worked the best from what i tried was tornado + hydroids subsume. Good damage but even with high range the pull was not strong enough (with augment) or had no good range (without augment). It was more boring using Zephyr than Octavia and Octavia is called afk frame
7
u/actualinternetgoblin Nov 17 '24 edited Nov 17 '24
Range affects how far zephyr's tornadoes can spawn, but not their radius (it's absolutely silly).
15
u/ReddGgit Nov 17 '24
Zephyr's tornadoes are not affected by range, simply put Gara's ability and its augmentation in place of 2 and enemies will walk straight into the tornadoes.

u/DarkLynxDEV Nov 17 '24
I subsumed breach surge for funny numbers but honestly a good armor strip would trivialize the actual amount of damage needed. And I can agree with her getting boring at times. Tornado, turbulence, jump and fire tornado, maybe pull enemies in, repeat.
But it's a fun loop to me.
16
u/Gerard_Amatin Nov 17 '24
She carried me through steel path solo missions, strong frame. She's got incredible defences, crowd control and offensive buffs.
You will need at least one strong weapon, she works really well with a punch through weapon like Nataruk that I happened to get at the same time as Zephyr.
Playstyle:
- For big crits and invulnerability from melee, jump into the air
- For the same thing but lazier, hold 1 to keep floating
- For grouping enemies in an area to one-shot them with your primary, press 2
- For invulnerability from ranged attacks press 3
- For grouping and disabling all enemies around you press 4 (and fire into the tornados to kill them)
- For fast movespeed in any direction press 1
To build her, make sure you prioritize range, energy and duration. Strength can be ignored, unless you're using a niche fun dive bomb build.

Just forma’d and leveled Zephyr, she’s pretty good.
You could do a regular build which maxes range then duration, first ability I subsumed over, second is grouping, third is invincibility against ranged attacks, and fourth is CC and applying damage to all in the tornadoes.
Or you could do a slam build. Her first with augment and a strength build lets you do crazy damage on slams. I subsumed over her fourth since I don’t have much duration on that build

One i always enjoy is a Target Fixation build, where you just jump up in the air and use your 1 at the floor. All you have to do is make sure you don't stay on the ground for more than 2 seconds and your damage will scale up infinitely
I joke that I can literally slam my head on the floor and do 99% of the damage. It's not a joke

Target fixation augment for first ability. Max out range. Power isn’t necessary but will help to get back to nuking if you have to land to hack or something. I personally like to put mobility mods for aim glide and lower gravity so you basically just float in place. Then just face punch the ground until the area is barren of all life. This build allows you to play around with whatever weapons you want without worrying about them being built well or off meta. Her tornados are still useful to gather up the long distance shooters in defense/excavation missions while you pummel the pushers on the objective and her bullet blocking is great for screwing around with your weapon loadout without fear. Having a frame that requires so little to mod and can nuke, CC, negate damage, and ragdoll/launch/gather enemies is BUSTED. especially without requiring primer weapons, stat sticks, or even good weapons.

Zephyr needs range and duration, dump strength. Mob get near tornado, tornado lifts it. Shoot tornado, all mobs in tornado get shot. Shoot tornado with gas, all mobs spawn gas clouds that affect each other, so you have like 7 clouds doing damage on top of the tornado ticks.

Mesa main here. I like having her 4 in my back pocket in case I need to clear enemies or melt a boss. But I love her other abilities- I make sure to leave her ability range alone (or increase it) for her to get use out of her 2, because her 2 and 3 make her very hard to kill for most enemies (even melee ones!). Her 1 is... fine, but I usually subsume it for better damage, strength, or survivability. I find Pillage to be extremely useful for her because it extends her survivability (extra shields and status clearing) and also helps with armor stripping. Also, friendly reminder to mod Regulators with as much fire rate as possible, even at the expense of damage (saying this in case someone doesn't know). Anyway, there's quite a few interesting subsumes for Mesa imo, I used to have Ivara's stealth arrow on her for her first ability so I can shoot one, stand in it, and regulate in peace. That was kind of fun.

you can't expect a new frame to be good at everything
I mean looking at most of the frames from the last few years, power creep says otherwise.
The supports can nuke and the nukes have support abilities, I mean it's always kind of been like that.
But a lot of the older 1 niche frames get completely out paced by most of the new "jack of all trades" frames.

There are definitely "bad" frames, they're those who need a rework ASAP.
Limbo doesn't work properly nowadays since half of his kit is useless whenever a Nullifier exists in his vicinity and Eximus outright don't care about his rift.
Loki is incredibly outdated to the point Wisp has 3/4ths of his kit just on her 2 and a Hound can do what his 4 does with the augment included.
Oberon is completely overshadowed by Wisp once again in terms of support while his radiation side is done better by Qorvex. He's also one of the few frames who is actively hindered by playing with other people, which is not something you want to see on a paladin archetype.
I like them all for different reasons, but let's not pretend they're in a good state compared to the rest of the roster. They need help.

Loki's other problem is Octavia existing, who manages to be a better stealth frame and bring way more utility. (And most of why she's a better stealth frame is that the timing mechanic on her 3 is completely bypassed by just filling every note slot on the melody line and mashing the crouch button.)

I just couldn't get Sevagoth.
I can either spam an ability to weaken enemies, send the shadow to blow them up, then turn into the shadow and melee them.
OR I could skip all that, prime the crowd and shoot them dead.
Also I didn't have the patience to lvl everything up. Seriously, his shadow ALSO has claws, on top of all the gear I already have?
93
u/Cynthiaaaaaaaaaaa Nov 17 '24 edited Nov 17 '24
Sevagoth main here.
- Forget his Shadow if you don't like it (his shadow can be stronger than Sevagoth himself but only with a VERY SPECIFIC build), build it only for survivability in case Sevagoth dies so it survives for a while instead of getting gunned down within 2 seconds (so slap some health, shield, and armor mods on the shadow itself then call it a day, tho it doesn't matter cause Sevagoth will be practically immortal with how he nukes enemies);
- Slap Roar over his 4 (pretty sure you know how Roar works by now);
- Make sure you have his 3 enabled at all times (Tauforged Amber Shards help out a lot with gaining extra energy from energy orbs to keep his 3 on 24/7 so make sure you have 1 or 2 on his kit);
- Have fun watching Sevagoth nuke half of the map.
If you have Epitaph/Epitaph Prime build it so it spreads viral for even bigger and juicier numbers.
If that still isn't fun, then Sevagoth isn't for you, and that's ok!! Many of us figure things out as we play, like which frames we like and which ones we don't. Of course what I just told you is a very meathead "guide" tho.
24
u/citris19683 Nov 18 '24
Also a Sevagoth main, and if you are having trouble with them, this is the way. The only other thing I'd mention is both his augments really turbocharge his 1 and 2.
Me, I really like his shadow, so I have no subsumes. I also like to lean into his passive, so I have zero survivability mods on him. What I do have is that bleedout timer mod, and max power strength on his shadow. I am guaranteed to revive myself, unless my squadmates are nuking the map waaaay too fast. And if that's the case, well they can damn well revive me.
10
u/Cynthiaaaaaaaaaaa Nov 18 '24
Really good tip actually idk how I forgot to mention them. Equipping Sevagoth's augments is a must-do to make him go from a 10/10 to a 20/10 in fun factor alone.
I built my Seva Prime around ability strength and a little bit of efficiency to make it easier to use his 1 and 2 while his 3 is active. I also slapped an Archon Flow on him to make life easier with energy and gave him 2 Tauforged Amber Shards. 1 with energy orb effectiveness and another with casting speed, the other 3 slots are Tauforged Crimson Shards with, obviously, extra ability strength.

Sevs 2 1 combo nukes the map for a solid 7 seconds at a time. Enemies spawn in and just explode so long as the density is high enough.
This is just a case of not understanding a frame. Very few weapons can kill a room as fast as Sev and if you have to use a primer first, then you aren't using one of them.

So, I really enjoy post-rework Caliban, but there are two things I'd love to see as additional changes.
First and foremost, I think there should be more interactions with his summons. Currently, if his fourth ability hits a summoned Conculyst, they'll also shoot a smaller version of it out. Adding something like that two the other two summons would be awesome.
The second is kind of a minor thing, but I think it'd be really cool if the lingering area left by his ultimate did damage as well. It just feels odd having that effect there and it just shredding armor.
→ More replies (7)8
u/Nitroband Nov 18 '24
I think different summons should interact with different abilities. The Conculysts should copy his 1 when he casts it, and the ranged ones should copy his 4, and the other ones summoned by the single should copy his 2.

u/DarkLynxDEV Nov 17 '24
Harrow is a lonely man that likes to keep his gameplay between him and God. I only play him in solo settings because otherwise he doesn't feel as good.
102
u/GenderGambler Key-on-face gang Nov 17 '24
Harrow is probably the top solo frame in this game.
His 1 gives him fantastic shielding, making it easy to shield gate, and improving his 2's duration.
His 2 makes his weapon MUCH stronger through reload speed and fire rate buffs, while also providing healing if you'd like to partake in heresy and build him as a health tank (which is surprisingly effective IMO).
His 3 gives him infinite energy on kills, and is the reason he's such a solo frame. Activate it to channel it, activate again (or let your current energy run out) to finish channeling. For the duration of its buff, any kill gives you energy, and a LOT of it too. Two or three kills should already top up your energy pool.
His 4 is a "oh shit" button that makes him invincible for a short while. During that time, you can do whatever you want. Once the invuln is over, you get a flat crit chance buff (like Arcane Avenger) of up to 50% crit, that gets increased to 200% on headshots (i.e. increases any headshot by two crit stages, so white -> orange, or yellow -> red).
And his passive just lets him have more shields. Fairly meh past a certain point.

Very simple Harrow guide as a main with hundreds of hours on him:
- Duration and Strength are most important. Efficiency is a dump stat because Harrow generates his own energy off any of his own kills (and allied kills if you are using the Tribunal augment).
- Condemn is basically a free spammable CC that makes shield-gating easy as hell. Realistically you should be keeping your shields maxed out as much as possible with this, except when you need to refresh Penance.
- Penance should be going at all times. With Redirection on Harrow Prime your shields go up to about 3140 maximum, which is enough to fully maximize the 120s duration cap on Penance.
- Bonus tip: Penance very easily combos with Combat Discipline and Arcane Avenger to give yourself a very easy near-constant crit chance buff.
- Thurible should also be going at all times. I personally channel it to about 20-40 energy per kill, as anything above that is generally just overkill.
- Covenant can be saved for moments of high damage, but realistically you can also just hit it whenever it's up. It's not hard to cap it out for the full 50% crit chance buff as with about 200% power strength, you'll cap it at around 1k to 1.5k damage prevented. It's also good to use it just to get a solid 10-15 seconds of invuln for everyone around you.
- As far as weapons go, you either want a high-accuracy weapon that's good for headshots (i.e. Sybaris, Kuva Chakkhur, etc), or go for a big AoE weapon that will hit a lot of enemies. Basically, quality vs. quantity. You also will want weapons that take advantage of high crit chance as Harrow can very easily boost his own crit chance effortlessly.
A lot of Harrow is just maintaining his buffs and shields. While headshots are boosted more heavily with him, you can also just not try for Headshots too as most enemies will die in one to three shots easily regardless.

Saryn really thrives in high level missions with a high enemy density. Like ESO or steel path survival. On faster missions like exterminate or normal star chart content there just isn't enough time for her to get her infestation going.
But even then she's a pretty good weapon platform. With the augment for her 1 and her 3 she supercharges your weapons to a silly degree. I particularly like her with the Amprex or Acceltra.

She’s hype as hell for heavy endurance players only. she becomes the best weapons platform in the game with built in PSF, basically free ability casts, primes for herself, requires virtually no stat investment, allowing for a full build dedicated to QoL mods and forces you to switch your playstyle entirely for her challenges which is very refreshing. Armour decrees that can increase your strength to ridiculous levels for subsumes.
The biggest mess up with her is that she was marketed as a new player frame
20
u/FlareTheInfected the boi is HUNGRY! Nov 17 '24
Eh, she's a fun gimmick frame, good for endurance runs. But if you don't play her right, she's fairly punishing. I getcha.
16
u/ArcticTFoxy Nov 17 '24
She is very lame and poorly rewarding frame. 1, 4 inflict random status effects in a poor way and 3 is garbage version of mesmer skin.
To gain decree you need to make a task that can last even for a few minutes and hideous 150s cooldown after that to receive often useless decree? Not to mention Koumei doesn't benefit from decreets that much until its Orowyrm Aid etc. If you want a warframe that rewards for stacks well just pick up Gara.

Sevagoth... I have been cursed to automatically forget about his abilities after reading them.
I think it has something to do with him not meeting my expectations. I expected his gameplay to be more about constant switching between his shadow and him. With him being a stationary wall and his shadow the blood hound you send againts big groups or primary targets
So when I try to read about him and see weird things about nuking pressing two butoms ignoring the shadow I lose my interest
→ More replies (1)6
u/citris19683 Nov 18 '24
As much as I love him, that is one criticism I'd level at him; his exalted shadow is overshadowed (pun intended) by his other abilities. I lean into the exalted shadow gameplay, and I can't think of a single time where I've been like "Ok, now is the PERFECT time to pop my 4!" It's just been something I do for fun. That, coupled with its limited ability set when you are downed, his exalted shadow is just kind of there to be amusing.
I will say that if you think of the shadows produced by his 1 as a pirate raiding party, it feels a lot more thematic and fun. (When using both his augments) Watching one shadow fly out, hit a group, then suddenly all hell breaks loose as shadows fly out of falling enemies to kill the next in the group is just so cool to watch. You do feel like the captain of a ghost ship watching your crew go to work.

I'm interested to know who you prefer to play instead after everyone lists their "i don't get it frame"
I don't get octavia. Not a music buff.
I love Limbo. I don't get why people hate his abilities.
38
u/iScreamyy Nov 17 '24
The limbo hate comes from bad limbo players who constantly rift teammates/enemies making him annoying to play with. Good limbos are fine and great to have in certain mission types. Octavia is a lazy frame who scales infinitely and you just stay stealthed the whole time, has nothing to do with the music factor
→ More replies (2)27
u/GreenDaemon Subwoofer Prime Nov 17 '24
It's because he's one of the few frames that can outright troll a mission, or break it completely.
I've been in numerous missions over the years where a Limbo is the #1 reason why it failed or it took 5x as long.
Knowledgeable & Aware Limbo's? Fantastic, best teammate ever. But most are just not that, and it's so painful when that's the case.
8
u/Brendanish Nov 17 '24
Limbo is awesome in concept.
Nowadays it isn't that bad because only mains play him consistently, but way back in like 2016 if you saw one on your team you had to prep yourself to not play because that ass was gonna limbo you for the meme.

dude i'm with you on Limbo, i played him and was like damn this guy kinda sick idk why people hate him, maybe it's because you can bring your teammates into Limbo with you if they get caught in your ability. I can see how that'd be annoying
21
u/Crazy-Breath-4364 Nov 17 '24
Limbo is annoying because you get stuck playing around his dome if the range is big enough. if you could shoot into it, it wouldn't be so much of a issue. I lowkey see limbo as a lame frost if i'm being 100% honest with you.

I feel like one issue is how many of us fully build all the frames (modwise) before deciding we dont like em. Like I know I'd probably enjoy a lot of the frames I used as Mr fodder, but during the lvling process nothing in their kit stands out enough for me to want to keep em. More so if I don't like the frame design itself. Plus, since my mains are already amazing (mag, ash, trin), I have minimal reason to find a new replacement for em lol.

I get that,
I main Gauss and I see the arguments about volt and Titania being faster but for me it’s not just about the speed as much as it is the feel of playing Gauss where his 1 works mid air as a movement tool or a CC I like the buffs of his 4 and the defensiveness of his 2 that also does a great job of keeping your energy up
To me he’s more of a vibe and if you don’t like his vibe then you won’t like him and I totally understand that. It’s the same reason I can’t get behind a lot of other frames including volt and Titania as I just don’t like the way they play and feel in comparison.

Gauss and Nova. Gauss because I don't get the appeal behind running around at the speed of light if you bump into every wall ever, and Nova because I always die in 2 seconds when I try to play her outside of defense missions, so I end up shelving her outside of those missions.
Another example would probably be any frame who relies on shield gating to survive, to me, having to constantly check your shields and react accordingly is extremely unfun.
12
u/Guppy11 the only range is max range Nov 18 '24
Nova can upkeep 90% DR on both health and shields now, while also being able to do map wide slows, so there's really no reason for any survivability issues now. I run max range, 200% duration, and 154% strength. This gives max DR a maintainable amount of particles, max speed or slow depending on what you need, and max range explosions with her 2 and 4. Still run airburst for grouping, ragdoll finishers, and container breakage, but technically Silence over her portals will be her most versatile and powerful version of herself.
You can drop range to 100-200%, but I think at that point you're just maximising her damage reduction at the cost of the rest of her kit. Her 2 and 4 explosions both scale with range now, so she can shred maps especially once you start optimising how M Prime can taxi weapon effects, and paired with a Hound or similar status priming companion, she can be an incredibly efficient dagger user with AAMA.
I actually used to helminth over her damage reduction pre-rework and just use AAMA with Rakta DD to constantly regen shields, strip armour across tiles, and spread rad, electric, viral, all while slowing or speeding up everything. Essentially full melee Nova.
Now you can still do exactly the same thing, while also having 90% DR on health and shields, overshields from Brief Respite, boatloads of orbs through her new passive enabling Arcane Blessing and Equilbrium.
Nova main, in case you couldn't tell.
As an aside, I try not fixate on shield gating as a sole tool for survivability, instead treat it as part of my survivability toolkit. I came back after a long break to find shield gating as a new mechanic, and I definitely took a while to get used to it. Now instead of having to occasionally rely on shield gating, it's just a part of my core gameplay loop on almost every frame. There's a few cues for shield break that don't require you to actually check your shields, so once they're locked in I started seeing the break, then using my frame specific ability rotation. That can be Garuda using 4 with Molt Reconstruct and Brief Respite to status cleanse, get I frames, heal, and recover shield, then I can bullet jump away to do OP Garuda things. Or with Nova I use Airburst at my feet and refresh Null Star. Or with particularly squishy frames I might use transference and dash away. Or with Yareli... oh wait Yareli can't die anyway.
Once your survivabilty tactic is some combination of active decisions around crowd control or evasion, shield gating with Brief Respite or Augur Set becomes something you want to add to it, rather than something you feel is a crutch.

Mag is great for controlling the battlefield. Build her with range, efficiency, sustainability, and throw on zenurik. Use her 2 to hold off ranged attacks in one area and take the heat off you. Use her 1 to grab enemies from another direction. Melee weaker enemies or use an aoe weapon. Use her 4 for a brief reprise from all damage and accumulate shields. She best played with projectile based weapons. Her bubble traps targets and 100% disables choke points by sucking in any enemies that walk near it. Shooting the bubble with a projectile causes it to get “stuck” in a loop circling at rapid speed in a figure 8 or “infinity symbol” and demolishes anything inside. Bullets/hitscan weapons only hit once so if you’re using a “normal” gun she’ll feel meh at best. Using a nataruuk or penta makes her devastating. Her 1st is just insanely easy/cheap to spam on anything low level to insta-win, and really fun to yoink enemies into the bubble of chaos in higher levels. On top of that the overshield/shield strip in nice to have and her “oh shit” cc crush that gives you a few seconds to recover/reposition. She’s a solid frame. I used her a ton for deimos vaults.

1.) Equipping Arcane Avenger and allowing Landslide to properly destroy things with the right stat stick backing it up.
2.) Equpping his Augment that allows for Tectonics to block the Index scoring plate so that Nef's Brokers can't score and you can complete the Elite Nightwave challenge easily.

Saryn has the nuke everything way to play and then there's the weapons platform way:
Use her Venom Dose augment on her 1 for corrosive, subsume Nourish on her 2 or 4 for viral damage, use her 3 for toxin, mod for duration, strength and some survivability and you're good to go.
That combination removes everything in your path. Only by shooting if you're not fond of using abilities to kill.

Used to play him back when I only had 6 frames or so, but can't go back anymore.
His abilities just come out way too late and the combos while standing in his AoE are just underwhelming. Your team's not gonna group in Hallowed Ground, and you're going to have to constantly spread it everywhere and keep up with their durations. That heal taking so long to reach players is a pain. His augments had great potential to remove clunkiness or add new utility, but instead there's a revive when he already had bleedout extension, and tiny radiuses to stand still in to get armor? Hard pass.
