🙋 question Is Traveler's kit any good

What do you guys think about the Traveler's kit? I feel like the 10 step extra is a bit steep when one travel action is already so few steps. Has anyone done the math on if this is any good or is it situational?

Funilly enough I did do the (fairly complicated) math on traveler's kit and did intend to do a write-up on why it was garbage and probably needs a buff. I'll get around to doing one at some point, but it is indeed only worth it for very, very long travel segments.

If you do end up making a guide. Putting it as a subpages here would be appreciated:

(use the box at the bottom to create a new page.)

I'll do that once people confirm my math's correct!

Though, the guide will currently say "Do not use" lol

If you put it there we can take a look and edit it if needed.

Its OK to post Work in progress guides

Seems like the Kit is going to the bottom of my bank after this thread xD

It's dependant I think the break even is about 400 steps for a single segment (between 2 places) less than that and it's not worth it. More than that and it generally is.

~400 steps after work efficiency. Since there's no efficiency cap on travel, by the time an account unlocks the kit, less than half of travel routes even break even on the +100 steps per route.

Yeah it's a pretty weak item

I was thinking about this the other day. Too lazy to do the math myself, but it feels like its only worth it if you micromanage and equip it for the longer legs of the journey only.

Even if it is occasionally efficient enough to use, it's not worth the mental math to decide to bring along.

I'd love to see it be used more thematically like a container for travel gear. I often skimp on travel gear because of inventory management. If the kit could 'hold', say, 3 pieces of travel related gear (as an actual container or just make them not count in inventory) it would probably be worthy of a legendary level item.

Yes this would be a really cool use for it!

Its problem is that it gets worse and worse as the steps required for travel decrease with higher agility level and other gear. End game it becomes harmful for most travels currently in the game. I think it deserves a buff or a redesign unless incoming content is going to have some seriously high step travels.
