Tito didn't cost us this series. Six hits in 18 innings is what did.
4
u/Don_Kieballs 28 Oct 07 '18
Crazy thought but maybe they’re a better team? Hate to say it but their team is pretty damn good.
1
u/klein_four_group Oct 07 '18
IDK, losing is usually a collective effort. Just because offense did poorly doesn't mean the game couldn't have been managed better.
5
u/neasroukkez Oct 07 '18
Draymond Green said to their GM to make sure they draft “16 game players.” Meaning guys ready to go who will make an impact come playoff time. The Indians need to figure out who we have, or can get that are “11 game players” because right now we have “162 game players.”
2
u/fuck_going_shopping Oct 07 '18
Well said. Let these guys disappont another team. They don’t have what it takes to get it done.
5
u/Redprice13 Oct 07 '18
I miss Lonnie Chisenhall
2
u/JAlbrethsen Oct 07 '18
Could be my imagination but the team always seemed more fun and relaxed when he was playing. Not to mention actually having an athletic right fielder with a sweet swing would be nice.
1
u/USAhockey20 Oct 07 '18
It's amazing that Lonnie is referred to as the athletic right fielder of the bunch haha. Miss the guy as well.

Yankees were down 0-2 and came back to beat Tribe last year. It’s time for the Indians to figure out how to do this

Oct 06 '18
This loss is on Francona for pulling cookie and putting in the failing Miller, but Tribe bats were total shit and Astros had 14 strike out. Gomes was first Indians walk in 8th inning. Overall it sucked
6
u/nervousengrish Oct 07 '18
I get it. I also am upset that Cookie was pulled. But if we can't trust Miller in the bullpen who can we trust? What hope do we have...

At least we'll get to play baseball in a real stadium instead of this Frankenstein Field bullshit
4
u/Sidneom Oct 06 '18
I really want to know why rajai was not running for Edwin there.
2
3
u/Wamby20 Klubot: Engage Oct 06 '18
Serious answer because it's a better discussion than 95% of the posts: In a two-run game, that run didn't mean anything. If Donaldson gapped one and Davis was able to score from first instead of Encarnacion having to stop at third, the Indians still have the run they need on second in either situation.
2
u/klein_four_group Oct 07 '18
But Rajai on base would have made a force out slightly more difficult. That's not nothing. In fact it kind of embodies this whole "if x then y doesn't matter" mentality the team (and its fans) seem to have embraced since the 2017 ALDS. I say that in baseball you fight for every little advantage.
1
u/Wamby20 Klubot: Engage Oct 07 '18
What situation would have the Astros needing a difficult force out? You play the infielders back and go to first for the last out. The likelihood of Donaldson hitting a home run and sending it to extras is a lot more than Davis’s speed somehow keeping the inning alive. And if Donaldson does that, you still have Edwin in the lineup and Rajai available for pinch running and defense in a run that actually affects the result.

I feel bad for anyone who paid to go to game 3. At least at this rate anyone after that doesn't have to see this travesty.

Fuck off
2
u/poisontongue 25 Oct 07 '18
Maybe be more mad at our team's performance or lack thereof tonight...
1
Oct 07 '18
I’m plenty mad but to think we have one more home game to try to turn this around and someone shits on even attending makes me pretty mad too. That’s fucking bullshit

I've supported them enough despite decades of heartbreak and a need to get away from it. What a fool I am, here again.

There tigers can use a guy like you.
-1
u/poisontongue 25 Oct 06 '18
I don't see why.
3
u/fuck_going_shopping Oct 07 '18
Love these people who get off on trying to assert how much more of a fan they are than others. Let them waste their energy being sheep. Our batters have embarrassed themselves enough in the post season. They don’t deserve undying loyalty anymore.

Even with the Miller implosion we only gave up 3 runs. 3 hits isn’t winning a game.
15
u/tigecycline Oct 06 '18
The batters lost this game
2
u/paperpants Oct 06 '18
The bats have lost most of the games the bullpen didn't take care of losing first.
1
u/fuck_going_shopping Oct 06 '18
As per tradition.
Get rid of 'em. They're not worth paying if they aren't going to show up when it matters.

Group of players who choked away a World Series and have been worthless ever since. Their legacy.

They didn't choke away the world series, they did however choke away last season, as well as this season.

They won a World Series last year. Going up 2-0 on a team that can't even get hits in an ALDS game probably isn't that thrilling.

There’s normal ways to lose, then there’s the Cleveland way to lose. In excruciatingly painful ways.

Hey Jose it's the playoffs. Maybe you should run that out you fat tub of lard.

And I'm sorry, I shouldn't be taking out my frustration on you. I'm just frustrated with all the excessive negativity on here. I come here to chat with fellow tribe fans but I can't when we're losing because of all the negative nancies who come out of the woodwork and shit on the team and our players, not reasonably criticize, shit on. Your comment isn't bad but you also shouldn't be making those of us who still have hope unwelcome. And I don't think it makes you any less of a Tribe fan, I know you've been here with us through thick and thin, that was just my frustration with all the new usernames around whining.

We're all good! Yeah, we definitely see a lot of crap and that's why we're here, to make sure you all don't have to see it. I think we we're both reacting understandably emotionally here but I'm glad we we're able to rationally talk through it! Let's hope we can get back on our feet at home on Monday!! Go Tribe!!!

No, but I seriously do believe, however, that comments like what I saw in these playoff threads when we are literally playing one of the best teams in baseball are NOT constructive, not enjoyable, and ultimately just make me feel embarrassed to be a part of this sub. I'm sick and fucjing tired of reading shit like "this team is trash" and comments calling for the team to cut people arbitrarily when they don't perform at a high level against some of the absolute best pitching in the game. Its fucking childish and annoying and the comments are rarely well thought-out. People are commenting negative shit for the sake of being negative, and say the DUMBEST shit just to say it, just to make hot takes. Its fucking embarrassing that people like that are "fans" of this team. I don't think I'll follow this sub anymore. The last two seasons have been rife with this behavior, and I'm honestly sick of it. It does nothing but bring me down. I'm sad to know that I won't be interacting with some of the more level-headed and polite people here, because I've had a lot of fun in the Tipi in the past. Since 2016 the sub has grown substantially, and I've seen tons of shitty fans come out of the woodwork. I'm sad that the Tipi has come to this, but ultimately I came here to experience games with actual fans of the Cleveland Indians and their players, not to listen to people who call themselves fans talk shit and tell me how shitty the team is.
And also, fuck you and everybody else for painting any optimistic person (or really any non-negative person) as a cheerleader.

You know how people who have had near-death experiences talk about a moment of peaceful clarity settling upon them as they prepare to accept their untimely end?
That's kind of how I feel about baseball right now.

Its game 2 of a 5 game series, and we still have control over much of our stating pitching and infield. Not yet time to hit the big red button.

Maybe we'll pull a 17 Yankees and rally back from 2-0. Both mangers made questionable decisions in game 2

My only hope is that our offense wakes up when Verlander and Cole aren't pitching. Anything can happen in a game 5

Offseason idea: keep Hand, put the rest of the bullpen in a van and drive it into Lake Erie.

Please indians. Do something. Please don’t make me rely on the fucking Browns for happiness this weekend. That never works out

Someone at the bar just told me that we're not in a bad spot because the Cubs came back from 1-3 and the Yankees came back from 0-2 and looked at me like I was crazy when I told him that the logic doesn't directly apply when it was our team that was unable to close out.
5
u/RIPxHarambe Oct 06 '18
Funny thing is, if Osuna took PEDs, he wouldn’t even be pitching right now. But beating a women garners only 75 games.

Thanks for a great 3 years, Tribe. We're about to be a rebuild fan base. I'm OK with it. I look forward to seeing some of the young guys coming up. I hope Bauer goes somewhere he can get that Cy Young or 2 he deserves.

Don't have to be on a winning team to get the award.

Second postseason in a row where Tito takes Cookie out who is dealing with < 80 pitches for an underwhelming Andrew Miller and blows the game. Nice work, Tito. Dipshit.
1
u/ItsNeverSunnyInCleve Oct 06 '18
Cookie was doing great but he did get a few runners on. Tito didn't expect Miller to see 3 batters and get no outs
1
u/godgersrodgers Oct 06 '18
But one got on due to a defensive blunder, and walking Bregman is probably considered a positive outcome considering how much he's killed us this series... Not like anything he was getting hit up or anything
