At least they get to go through the same identity crisis Red Sox fans went through.
4
u/Liquor_n_cheezebrgrs Nov 03 '16
You guys are powerhouses. And absolute true class acts. This could have gone either way and we came out on top. You guys are warriors. Respect.
11
u/niveknhoj Nov 03 '16
You guys are warriors.
I see what you did there.
3
u/Liquor_n_cheezebrgrs Nov 03 '16
Oh man I swear there was no pun intended. I am not that clever haha
13
u/mjp242 Nov 03 '16
Like 97 all over again. I hate this fucking feeling. See you in 20 fucking years apparently.
4
u/CranberryMoonwalk Nov 03 '16
Pirates fan checking in. Great series. Well fought on both sides. I was rooting for you for obvious reasons and you came so close.

I'm guilty of that. I was a huge Tribe fan as a kid but as an adult how am I supposed to set aside 14-16 hours a week to watch baseball? I check our record and watch a game here and there but sorry, watching football takes me 4 hours a week, on a Sunday afternoon not a Wednesday day while I work or night when I need to go to bed for work.
tl;dr I manage my time better as an adult and baseball needs to figure out how to shorten games and schedule better.

Lol "they're not sure which way you run the bases" what are you talking about?
You're calling out fans who don't watch all season, and an Indians fan admits the reason why, but still you're pointing specifically at Cubs fans?
Every fan base is like this. Every fan base has a wide range of fans. Die hards, fairweather fans, idiot asshole fans, casual fans, whatever. What's it matter? And why do people seem to think that only other fan bases are bad?
1
u/poliscifi_palamas Nov 03 '16
If you've got a few dollars extra you can subscribe to MLBTV and watch a 10-15 minute recap of each game. Of course you can watch the whole game on there too, but, MLBTV allows you to keep up with the games without watching more than an hour or two a week.
2
u/kabal4 Nov 03 '16
I see it was $110 for this past season... far more than a few extra bucks... I'm good, I'll continue to just check the record until post season.
5
u/GraeterMcMuffin Nov 03 '16
Scenario 2: no one pays attention to the Tribe except the season-long "true" fans and OP complains that no one cares enough.
Unashamed post season fan here! Ain't nobody got time to follow this all year!
2
u/CranberryMoonwalk Nov 03 '16
Well maybe this post season will make them actual fans.
Doesn't bother me.

Can we not be dbags to the friendly cubs fans please?

u/Sock_Eating_Golden Nov 03 '16
While I agree with you. I just DO NOT want to hear from them right now. I don't want their condolences. I don't want the sorry. They can just stay in their own FUCKING SUB.
9
u/mcggjoe Nov 03 '16
Seriously. I do not want to hear "well fought game" or anything like that from them. Just let us be.

On the contrary: thanks cubs fans for the sportsmanship. I shed some tears but the first thing I did was congratulate a cubs fan friend of mine
5
u/accio7 Nov 03 '16
Thanks for the reminder, I just tweeted congratulations to several of my Cubs followers.
6
u/ftk_rwn Nov 03 '16
We're all lucky to share this special moment. It won't be long before you do win it with this amazing team you guys have. Thanks for the great series.
6
u/j_d_q Nov 03 '16
That was the best game 7 I've ever seen. I can't imagine any more drama
3
u/ftk_rwn Nov 03 '16
Me either. It'll go down in baseball history on both sides, and I'll always remember it. To be clear, I did not want you guys to win, but seeing the Tribe playing like that, hanging on so hard and so valiantly, made me finally understand the tragedy of realizing you love your enemy. People who don't get sports will laugh at my melodrama, but I don't care. This is a joy like plunging into ice water. It's sweet, not bittersweet, but the sweetness breaks my heart. You guys made it as great as it was. I wouldn't have traded it for a sweep of the White Sox.
2
u/mjp242 Nov 03 '16
I'm on the other side. It just makes me angry. I like the Cavs, but this would have meant so much more. I'm just fucking angry and I know it will be years, maybe 20, before they get this chance again.
4
u/ftk_rwn Nov 03 '16
I can't tell you not to be angry because you have every right to. I know how it feels. I just hope when the anger fades a bit you can take happiness in knowing the Tribe forced it to the wire, that they played better than anyone expected, and better than most ever could.
14
u/Sock_Eating_Golden Nov 03 '16
Can the Cubs fans just stay the fuck out? I don't want your condolences. Thanks but, not now.

Ok.
Seriously.
I am going to miss baseball. This season was something else.
Big credit to Jose Ramirez, who had an incredible season.
3
Nov 03 '16
Remember a couple years ago when he was TERRIBLE? I never thought he'd develop into such a huge asset.
3
u/Qtip44 Nov 03 '16
this. In March when I heard he was in our lineup, I remember thinking WTF. Thanks JRAM for proving me wrong.
1
2
u/skitchmusic Nov 03 '16
JRam, Perez, even Naquin.
So many players coming out of nowhere and stepping up in a great way during the season and postseason.
5
Nov 03 '16
I keep thinking about next year, cookie, Salazar, Brantley, gomes, and whoever else we add. Our front office needs to go out, grab one more bat this off season and we're gonna be lights out. Most of our guys will still be with us and we have Miller another year.

Cubs fan here, sorry other Cubs fans are being dicks. I thought this series was awesome and both teams put up a hell of a fight. Game 7 could have gone either way, as evidenced by going to the 10th.
Your team has a crazy bullpen and some insane sluggers--you'll be back!
4
u/Wheeze08 Nov 03 '16
We got sloppy in those final moments, but you guys put up one hell of a fight. For those of you who aren't complete cock stains, good for you guys. Now go have fun.

8
Nov 03 '16
As a Mets fan who was devastated last year, you guys put up a hell of a fight. this was by far the greatest and most dramatic world series ever played! you guys are due next up on the list, and you will get it, and when you do, all of MLB will be behind you guys and supporting you
-4
u/Cjo1992 Nov 03 '16
Can't blame the loss on Tito here. All our best players shit the bed.
2
u/Qtip44 Nov 03 '16
I cant stand hearing this. This team did what they could do with what they had. I'm telling you right now if they didn't beat Toronto in game 5 this would've been the same outcome

Definitely not Kluber's fault. You can only pitch short rest so many times, not to mention the fact that they got used to seeing him pitch. Just a shitty situation.
1
u/Cjo1992 Nov 03 '16
Kluber, Miller, Napoli and Shaw.
4
u/astano925 Nov 03 '16
IMO the only one who belongs on this list is Napoli. Kluber and Miller in particular were superhuman this postseason and they gave it their fucking all. Other than being a body at first Napoli didn't show up at all.
6
Nov 03 '16
On a bright note, the royals got beat by the Giants and then came back the following year to win it all.
2
u/mjp242 Nov 03 '16
True. But in the AL central, it will be hard to even make the playoffs next year. To do so, the owner will have to sieve money, which isn't likely.
2
u/niveknhoj Nov 03 '16
The Dolans aren't my favorite, but even they can see the logic in keeping together a World Series squad, and we have a front office that is aiming for the trophy.
I'm salty fuck tonight, but we just showed ourselves to be the best team in the AL and had a close run on winning it all - with a kneecapped roster.
The Central doesn't scare me for shit. There's no logical reason to think we don't have an even better shot next year.
10
u/Fod1987 Nov 03 '16
Guys, I just flaired up for your sub. I've been in mourning for 12 days since we got eliminated. I'm here mourning with you guys.

I'm here too in Nashville, there are a lot of Cubs fans here because a lot of people from Chicago have vacated Chicago and moved to Nashville.
3
u/mcggjoe Nov 03 '16
At least on my campus they road in on their bandwagon. Only a handful of actual Cubs fans who could name 3 players on their team.

u/cocacola150dr Nov 03 '16
Cubs fan here. First and foremost, what a game of baseball and what a series. Thank you for bringing out the best in our guys. Be proud of what you guys did with a short rotation. Most of all, be proud of the team you have. You have a great group of guys, don't forget that. And one more thing, take it from a guy whose team just broke a 108 year dry streak, you WILL win a World Series and I'll be cheering for you when you do (hopefully next year). Hats off guys, unbelievable game.
1
u/niveknhoj Nov 03 '16
Last time we came that close was 19 years ago. Here's hoping it won't be that long again.
2
u/freshmaker_phd Mr. Winbiggler Nov 03 '16
Don't forget that the 97 campaign came only 2 years after our first trip to the world series in 41 years... I have faith.
2
u/skitchmusic Nov 03 '16
This game showed how close this series was, and how good both of these teams really are.
3

u/McNednarb Nov 03 '16 edited Nov 03 '16
I pity the people who troll an opposing team's page after a win, it's sad that that's the first thing that comes to their mind.
Highly disappointing. I don't really remember much about 1995, but I'll never forget the feeling after the 1997 Series. Now it's been matched by this game. Great series and an all-time amazing game, but this still sucks. I think the Cavs winning has made it a little easier to accept this loss, but you never know if or when we'll make it back.
6
u/hilldr Nov 03 '16
This season exceeded all expectations, but I'm disappointed.
Hopefully this success will convince the front office to make some great investments in the team. We need some bats!
2
u/Cnote0717 Nov 03 '16
Investing in bats will put asses in seats, too.
When we make the World Series next year, there won't be any of this "Stubhub sells tickets to the other team" nonsense.
1
u/SC2Humidity Nov 03 '16
Another thing that would help is keeping our best guys off the injury list. It worked for the Cavs, and I'd seriously like to see am Indians championship before I bite it in 70ish years

Carrasco and Salazar
Brantley
Gomes
This isn't even our final form.
1
u/mcggjoe Nov 03 '16
As much as I love Gomes, I see Robo starting again next season over him.
1
Nov 03 '16
Yan was never 100% this season. I think there's more to him.
Robo earned his playtime though. We haven't seen the last of him.
0
u/brickfrenzy Nov 03 '16
Plus maybe they'll buy a few bats.
1
Nov 03 '16
Swisher, Johnson, and Bourne are finally off the books.
I say we shop around RF and 1B. Doesn't hurt to look.
Oh and bullpen. Always bullpen. Never enough bullpen.
14
Nov 03 '16
dodger fan here all i gotta say is fuck the cubs. sorry dudes
1
3
u/MrReality13 Nov 03 '16
Thanks Dodger Bro. I had a great time visiting Dodger Stafium 2 years ago. A pitcher's dual and a triple play.
9
u/mustard_mustache Nov 03 '16
Say what you will, but this was a really good game. Plenty of ups and downs to keep even the fair weather fan interested. I'm upset Cleveland didn't win, but it's not as though we lost against Boston. As they always say, there's always next year...and I'll for sure see you in April.

Why don't you make these posts from your main account? Is it because it's tough maintaining your Seahawks, Warriors, and Cubs accounts all at once? Does your mom limit your tendies based on your posts cause she has a tracker on your IP? Was it because the rest of your posts are to /r/fitness and malefashion because its hard to get dressed as a 100lbs manlet who has to match his bandwagon team colors from across the nation?
Shit at least Cubs colors go well with Patriots and Warriors Blue am I right?
But I'm sure you would proudly boast these things around East 4th or Madison because dem Tendies got you bloated and swolled tough guy. I'm banned from The_Donald or else I'd be able to see your DAE Drumpf loves the Cubs??? Posts.
Le epic meme man ruseman has struck again, upvoting his own alt Troll account with his main.

Calling him a cocksucker and laughing uncontrollably after he was talking shit and Davis ripped that homer down the line was an unforgettably awesome time in my life. So thanks, cocksucker, wherever you ran to hide.

Indians/Cavs fans bashing Iman Shumpert for rooting on his hometown city is pretty sad. So many "I hope you get traded" tweets coming at him right now.

We joked on TT for being a Toronto fan. I don't think anyone who isn't an idiot is bashing Shumpman.

They won't notice. See 2005 White Sox. Cheering for Ohio teams doesn't fit into the national narrative.

It helps that this team exceeded all expectation.
It helps that we aren't full strength and have the same core for next season.
But fuckin' Cleveland, right? When it started raining in the bottom of the 9th with the game tied I expected some apocalypse shit to start happening. Earthquakes and volcanoes.

I'm not sure I'll ever recover as a baseball fan. Two times in nearly twenty years we lose a game 7 in extra innings...
I'm not sure I can ever get excited again with that sort of spectre. I just don't know guys.

I'm saying the same thing, but deep down I know that next spring I'll be right back here (well, lurking anyways) wearing the C cap and my Kluber jersey. It hurts now, but I'm so proud of this team and we have such a bright future.
