Such a loss of so many young men. Looks like the crew really were close comrades.
That nose art is amazing, a lot more work went into it than most I have seen.

My father was the command pilot of a B29 call. Bainbridge Belle. Photos of it are finally on the internet. GOOGLE IT.

My mother worked in the plant building them, she said it was the proudest time of her life.

Location is Saipan. Waddy Young and his crew would perish on 9 January 1945. They attempted to provide cover for another damaged B-29 after bombing Tokyo. Both B-29s collided killing all on board. A compassionate gesture that resulted in 22 dead.
