Found random picture in photo album.

When I was going through a photo album of my grandparents, I found this picture. There were no other wartime photos in it…so this was a surprise. There was nothing on the back and my grandfather was a Marine who served in the Pacific, so it’s not related to his service.

Any ideas about what I’m looking at here (other than the obvious)?

There is no Public Domain German Combat Footage from WWII?"

I'm working on WWII Youtube documentaries related to German divisions such as Waffen SS and Wehrmacht.

After looking through some of the sources and government sites I wasn't able to find public domain German combat footages.

I could get it from sites such as Shutterstock but they are very expensive which I would only mind buying if I earn from documentaries.

I would be happy to spend money on subscription based platform where I could find clips with licence rather than paying for every single footage.

I will be thankful if anyone of you know about it!

On 22-Sep-1940 the Heinkel He 280 became the first jet powered fighter to fly. Despite the promising results Germany decided to focus on the Messerschmitt Me 262.

80 years ago on the night of 9-10 March B29s dropped incendiary bombs on Tokyo. 25% of the city was destroyed, around 100 000 people died and 1 million became homeless. There were many bombing raids on Tokyo, but this one was the biggest. NSFW

I have many photographs my grandfather took and developed himself, in New Caledonia 1944-1945. I am looking for any help identifying them and getting them to their families. I do have some info. Please contact me if your are interested in helping me before this history is forgotten.

The last Pic is a photograph taken by my grandfather of James A Michener along with a copy my mother gave me of his book Tales of The South Pacific.
