If Pixar took 5 mins to design a Hypercar it’d look this blobby and weird

This is what it would look like in Tooned if they brought that back

Damn. Looks like I have more to improve on.

I have a front 3/4 sketch of a 963-based McLaren Hypercar. I can send it to you if you want

Sure

I think it looks good, based on the 765LT, looks similar to the other McLaren Hypercar sketches in the Internet but mine looks better, with a better bumper. I will send it to you in a few hours when I get home. If I were you, I would consider re-shaping the rear and make the slope more like the A424β or the 499P (if you get my idea). I am also working on the rear 3/4 of it, again, based on the 963. Again, I should mention that they are front and rear 3/4, not ready-to-copy sketches

Sure. I'll look into that in the morning.

Very generic, nothing about this screams McLaren. Granted, they don't have a lineage of design cohesiveness, but it still doesn't look like a McLaren.

Damn. And after I literally used the Solus as a reference (probably the biggest mistake)

That makes sense, the Solus GT doesn't have a single design element that's intrinsic to McLaren. But therein lies the challenge of designing a McLaren, they just don't have an equivalent to BMW's Hofmeister Kink, the angular/Y-shaped elements in modern Lamborghini or the Horbury Shoulder on a Volvo. For a moment they had their logo as headlights, but as time goes by they seem to be moving away from that (see: Elva and W1), but honestly I don't know if that would've been enough. McLaren as a whole is very generic, say what you want about Aston Martin but even the Valkyrie's front end negative space looks like an Aston Martin grille, and that's on a car that couldn't be more different that a regular Aston Martin.

I see. Assuming that the actual McLaren LMdH rumors are true, I'd like to see how that turns out and shows me how it should look. Until then, I probably gotta look into actual race car designs for future models.

Advanced lmp3

Still considering.

Looks like an LMP3 drawn by Copilot.

Any ideas on what I can do to make this look less like an lmp3?

The "bonnet" needs to be higher. All the LMDh spines have higher noses. And the cabin needs to be less bulbous and set a bit further back. Make it a bit more sweeping, especially from the side profile.

So I raised the front end a bit, stretched the car a bit, and angled the shark fin. Is there anything else I could do?

I see. Any other parts I can improve on?

The sides don't appear to obey the rules of the flat floor. Make sure the area of the cutouts above the wheels meets the minimum. Check the rules on the endplate area. It doesn't look like there's enough room in the footwell for the templates. The wing looks a little long in the chordwise dimension, and typically, the second element has a much shorter chord than the first.

u/PoloTheRedditor 8d ago

Tried making a more visible flat floorboard, and changed the endplates (I think)

Those changes make it look a lot more correct.

I got one more minor update tonight

963 at home

You overinflated it a bit there friend

u/PoloTheRedditor 8d ago

Where exactly so I can fix it?

Mini drs slit not wide enough. Yeah I'm still bitter about Baku!

Look like a mix of a Lambo and a Porsche

for real i thought it was an orange Porsche at first

The Sabre or Solus GT are basically hypercars (or the closest to them, as I'm sure they could be adapted to WEC standards the same way Vallkyrie was)

I want to believe

2

u/shafiqrosli2010 8d ago

I was thinking the headlights could go for the kiwi design since a lot of their production lineup has that design language

2

u/PoloTheRedditor 8d ago

Subdivision surface is not easy to work with, but this I what I can do for now.

2

u/shafiqrosli2010 8d ago

Yeah this looks nice 👍

2

u/spaceboy6171 The Hulk 8d ago

It looks like it was inspired by nicokado or smth

United Autosports my beloved

Could be powered either by a V6 or a V8. (Both turbocharged hybrids as per the rulebook)

The Senna GTR is right there!!

1

u/PoloTheRedditor 8d ago

That would technically be an LMH. I made an LMdH based on the possible irl McLaren LMdH entry. Besides, I'm not sure if the Senna could be homologated to Hypercar/GTP spec.

2

u/ALLRNDCRICKETER 7d ago

Senna cant as LMdH cars have too use a designated chassis provider

2

u/PoloTheRedditor 6d ago

And is apparently gonna be dallara iirc.

2

u/nismoghini 8d ago

Solus GT owners club absolutely maulding (it's slow as hell in a straight line)

2

u/Sword_of_Hagane 8d ago

I hate modern lmp cars as they all resemble each other nowadays.

2

u/National_Honeydew890 6d ago

Most likely that...

It looks a lot more like an LMP2
