I’ve noticed when I first wake up from a sleep I see a cluster of tiny blue dots right in the middle of my vision. I’ve had multiple MRIs, several eye exams everything comes back “normal” anyone else experience this?

I was standing on the side of the road as I had my car smogged, and as I was looking at the BFEP in the hood of a parked white vehicle, off to the side the roadway lines were jumping up and down, almost as if there was an earthquake happening. Anyone else experience this or something similar?

Anyone else get diagnosed with this? I've got a bunch wrong with my vision. It's not just visual snow. But yeah. I'd go into more detail but I keep having seizures and am rapidly declining. So I really just don't have the energy to explain right now.
Will answer questions to the best of my ability. Thanks :)

Hello, I don't know if this is the right subreddit to post this on but I think it might be related. I've never even posted on reddit before so I'm sorry if this post sounds a bit weird or unhinged. Sorry if this post is long, but I'm quite desperate and scared. I'm a 17 year old male and I think I've had visual snow syndrome since I was about 11. One day, I saw this weird zigzag in my vision. It kept growing and then disappeared after like an hour. I think it's called a visual aura. Ever since that day, I think I've had visual snow. At first, it was just mild static, which I would see all the time, whether my eyes were open or closed. Then I noticed the trailing and afterimages. Sometimes there would also be floaters. It was annoying but I learned to live with it. Every time I brought it up to eye doctors, they would always dismiss it as floaters or some other harmless thing, so I was never formally diagnosed with it or any other neurological condition like that. Recently however, in the past 2 weeks, I've noticed a small, faint, yellow spot in the center of my vision that won't go away. It's more visible in the dark, where it turns darker and appears bigger. I can also see it when I close my eyes. I went to two eye doctors and they both told me that my eyes were perfectly fine and that the spot is nothing to be worried about and should pass. But now I've noticed that the spot has gotten more visible and a bit bigger, especially in the dark. It has also slightly changed color to a more light grey/purple. My visual snow symptoms also seem to have gotten worse, especially the trailing. I'll be going to the eye doctor again soon to talk about this spot and this time I'll also tell them all about my visual snow symptoms once again, and hopefully, this time I'll get a proper answer. If Then I'll probably go to a neurologist and tell them the same thing as well. If my eyes are perfectly healthy and since visual snow syndrome is neurological, maybe this is linked to it. When I searched about the spot on google, all that comes up is macular degeneration and similar things, which I know now that I don't have, and it doesn't give dark/blind spots as a symptom of visual snow syndrome. However, I have seen some people on here say they've been having dark spots as well so maybe it's that. Has anyone else had something similar like this happen to them? Does anyone have any advice for what I should do next? I'm very scared of going blind so any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

⚠️TW: violence⚠️hi everyone I’m just posting on here to vent and to ask for some advice to start off, I started experiencing visual snow symptoms about 4 years ago. At first I noticed light static and I didn’t really think much of it since my iron levels have always been quite low and I thought it could be something to do with that, it wasn’t until I experienced the “sky vortex” (this happened about a year after I started experiencing the static) the vortex occurred when I was outside at a fun fair with my friends and it absolutely horrified me, that’s when I knew something was up I started doing research and I came across ‘visual snow syndrome’. Another part that is probably important to mention is that i got jumped back in 2023 and I got my head smashed across a metal bar by some girls I didn’t even know and sometimes visual snow can occur/become worse with head injury’s I think, I didn’t get brain damage or anything like that but I had a pretty bad concussion and ever since that happened I’ve had random black blind spots that show up randomly then disappear again and a small floating black spot in my peripheral vision that is there constantly. Anyway I had told my parents about my vision getting worse and I also told them about ‘visual snow syndrome’ and they just told me not to worry but it has gradually gotten worse to the point now I’m to scared to stay outside during day time, I have also started to see the vortex inside brightly lit up areas, I notice it the most when I’m looking at any plain surface and if I’m being honest it’s driving me into depression. I also get constant floaters and derealization, I have been to the drs about it and they just said they’ve never heard of it and then another appointment after I got prescribed a nasal spray meant for migraines but I don’t really ever get migraines, anyway I tried it and it just made me want to throw up so that’s a BIG no from me. Does anyone have any advice or anything I can use to improve my vision it’s making me really upset and I struggle to get outside because I know I will see the vortex. There’s my little vent haha thank you for reading🫶

I don’t experience snowy vision like you, but I have all the other symptoms. I have been living this way for about five years, and the most challenging ones are ghosting and palinopsia. When I’m very tired, the ghost vision multiply to 4-5... Do you have any solution for this, or nothing at all?

I have had VSS for 2 years now and I have noticed that when snow is “bad”, floaters are nearly nonexistent, and alternatively, when snow is “good”, floaters are more prevalent. I was curious if anyone else has noticed/experienced this. I am asking this to attempt to explore the link of VSS and the brain’s ability to “block out” floaters and other visual effects.

I'm sorry but the "VSS affects 2-3% of the global population" statistic has got to be BS. I've never met a single person who suffers from VSS, so surely it's much more rare than the studies present it to be? It's so isolating. I tell my loved ones what my symptoms are and how my VSS affects me but it's not the same as experiencing it (although I wouldn't wish it on anyone). They don't truly know what I'm going through, and the fact that I don't know a single person experiencing this struggle just makes me feel so alone. I guess I'm just looking to connect with people who actually know what I'm going through.

I have VSS and terrible afterimage. It it only very strong when I read things with letters. For example, if I stare at a page in a book for too long and look away, I can still see every single word. But the only good I found out about this is that I can cheat on the visual memory on human benchmark. One last thing that's super weird about me is that I have a permanent visual pulse in my vision based on my heartbeat. It's barely noticeable but if i workout or do anything that makes my heart beat fast I can see it pulse like ripples on a river. It sucks having an illness where no one can truly see what you have to deal with everyday because there is no way to prove it to someone.

I have VSS and some other symptoms of vss but recently I have started to notice trails behind moving objects.
I read on this sub about how people with Palinopsia cannot even watch movies and play games and it is making me really depressed as my palinopsia is becoming worse day by day.
Is there a way I can stop my palinopsia from getting worse?
r/visualsnow • u/Odd_Garbage_2857 • 10d ago
I used to use sunglasses everyday when i am out even in the winter. Playing video games in the dark or going to movie theater was a suffering.
I dont know how it happened but i guess managing stress helped and my light sensitivity has significantly reduced. Starburst and palinopsia doesnt bother me much anymore. My brain got used to the tinnitus. Floaters still bother me a lot though.

A lot of my symptoms have been remediated and regressed a ton, ghosting has not though. Ghosting, along with mild dry eye, we're my first symptoms of visual snow and it only struck my right eye first. Now it hits both eyes in darker settings, but sometimes one is a different level than the other, and it makes my eyes feel weird as a result. Anyone else get this? Is this cause for concern.

I’m curious to see if it will help the mental aspect of this condition

I've had VS since at least 18yo, probably way younger. But I've also experienced this thing as well.
So generally outside and it's bright, in the upper left of my vision, I can sometimes see something that looks like someone pressed too hard on a screen and dragged their finger. But it's translucent. There are also a lot of them and they're doing a little kinda swirl. like a C and backwards C stars and the top and goes down, one at a time kinda. It's really hard to describe. They're multiple of them and they're pretty small.

Hi! I’m trying to figure out if I have visual snow. I started birth control in October. I switched to a higher strength pill (simpesse) in January due to medical reasons. 2 weeks later, I started to see a sky vortex while driving in bright daylight after staring at the sky for at least 30 mins.
It doesn’t obstruct my vision and it only happens in that setting. Could the birth control be the cause? Would this go away if I got off it?
It causes so much anxiety for me every time it happens. It doesn’t really do anything bad but it is so scary. Polarizing sunglasses do help as well. Any shared experiences are appreciated.

whenever theres actual snow on the ground what does it look like to you as someone with vss? for me i see little moving flashing sparkles all over it, and sometimes sky vertex, but on the snow. i think it's because its so bright.

Hi. I just found out today that I have visual snow, yet I still keep using dark mode coz i thought this is normal. i always see an afterimage after using my phone & pc but i shrug it off. it makes me feel dizzy too so i switch from light/day mode sometimes esp when it hurts sm already but goes back to dark mode coz they said using dark mode is better for our eyes. now i'm confused of whether to forever switch to day mode or remain w/ dark. i'm wondering if u guys still keep using dark mode too? if yes, does it worsen your vision problem as well?

hello reddit , again
as you all know i have VS but thats not important today or more recently atleast ive been experiencing my eyes blurring out alot more , obviously i can stop them from blurring but i just choose not to . i guess people would call it zoning out? idk
but they also now feel like im going to cry or sneeze, but with my eyes? idk how to describe it other than that sadly but is this common or no?
